It is only obtainable from an enemy that only spawns pre-skeletron. I am surprised not that many people know about this even through its such a game breaking item. I recommend going straight to the dungeon whenever you start a playthrough.
I actually had a couple moments where I thought wow this is a bullet hell in disguise, and don't get me wrong, I'm keen on bullet hells which is probably why I liked this on multiple levels, but even when it's at that bullety hellish feeling it still feels unique enough to aaalmost not feel like one. I mean to those who may have heard of bullet hells and seen a couple clips, they might not link it, hell even those who ONLY play them might not as it's out of place and the high octane fights might just feel like a strategic dance in the heat of the moment. I think the only reason I really thought about it was when I managed to get my friends to play with me in this past year. It was the best experience with terraria I have ever had, it felt like a whole new game, considering most 'more fun with friends' games often just give shitty missions with no story because they think that's fine, as you will make it up in your head with your friends, which is absolutely atrocious. In terraria we had no particular goal, I just wanted to get them into the game and start building, show them how their idea of a 2d Minecraft can be so much more. We ended up doing absolutely everything, I mean everything that we could. I digress, what I noticed that when they were failing at boss battles I told them to watch out for tells and movements, when to dodge and whether they would need to weave, dodge or just get out of the way. That was the moment it clicked it was a bullet hell... In a way of course, because they weren't always telegraphed and had to watch out for the signs for their upcoming move and of course the obvious being that they would be in different locations which makes a huge difference. Anyway, love the video, and unfortunately my friends play on console so unless I can make them shell out on a pc and the game again (which they won't) I'm waiting for 1.4 so we can start fresh and spend hundreds of hours as before and hundreds more
The thing that "disguises" terraria as not really being a bullet hell, is that basically every other bullet hell will punish you severely for being hit once. Whereas not every boss in Terraria has their tells and clearly telegraphed attacks. Some just hurl shite at you and you need to rely on the power of your accessories, armour, and weapons to kill it. Duke fishron, Empress of light, and the lunatic cultist I'd say are the three main bosses who are known for clearly telegraphed attacks. For them, you're punished heavily if you get hit once, but they're much less chaotic in comparison to the likes of Plantera or the destroyer. They have ordered attacks and you can just dodge in a certain loop if you get good enough. Meanwhile you fight plantera, and there's less of a dodge this, fly over that, you just circle her for the first stage, stay clear of the thorns on the ground, and then run like fuck away in the second stage.

Mmm keeping the good ol "Tell new players to go to the underground dungeon" tradition eh? Also youre voice is pretty good u can read the entire ingredients of a food and still make it sound interesting and will you do a review on terraria's modded scene? If so then i recommend trying out "Calamity" mod the reason why i picked this is because you seem to have a massive hate on summoner and let me tell you this mod is the other way around they made the Summoner class to be able to stand on its own and they made it extra BUSTED too with even more Noclipping summons even in pre HM. So yea it would be amazing if you made something about this and amazing review man :) Ok bye
Personally I'd love to do a modded review. But after running doing this review I'm putting the game down for a bit. Burn out is an understated. I had gripes with summoner mainly cause I wanted to commit to the class but I was playing solo for most of master mode. Died 9 times to plantera for instance. So ultimately the calamity mod you mentioned sounds awesome and I'm looking forward to doing a video on it, just down the line, and when I'm not solo'ing. Thanks for the comment tho, honestly motivating.
@@ephemoth are you referring to trying calamity mod? If so I'm still running too solo to try such an endeavour. Some games are torture. Terraria master mode solo is worse and I can only begin to imagine calamity solo
that thing about the friends who leave after 1 day oh my god 😭 this is why I have probably a combined 500 hours in the game and have only ever beaten two mechanical bosses
As someone who's favorite class is summoner, yeah it's pretty bad and has a progression path worse than a subclass of one of the other 3 classes, to the point where going full summoner is a challenge run in and of itself, but damn it I still enjoy it cause it has an experience that the other classes can't really provide. Also great review, can't wait to check out your other videos
yeah what i do is i just craft another set of armor and get a ranged weapon for bosses but still keep my summons out for extra damage. i play summoner because I like mining and building without having to stop after every 5 blocks to kill something. i tried doing only range or melee and it made the boss offtime many many times worse
You'll love Calamity summoner. Summons actually do damage. You are forced to go pure summoner due to the damage reduction when holding a non-summon weapon, but when your summons can do some of the highest dps, does that really matter? It's only bad for the first 15 minutes where you're stuck with the squirrel staff. You can easily craft two amazing summons and then keep progressing to get better and better.
I usually just get carried by snapthorn, fight eater or brain as my first boss to get scales or flesh samples from them, get a pick, and skip all the rng summons for the imp
In regards to the terraspark boots, I can reliable get it in mid-late pre-hardmode. 1. Find Amber gemcorns or craft some, setup a gem farm in an easy to access cave. The Extractinator can help with this. One good way of finding amber is in the underground desert. 2. Find some jungle grass seeds or setup base at the jungle. Then make a number of horizontal platforms of mud blocks, be sure to attach to a block with jungle grass, multiple attachment points will speed up the grass growing process. You now have a bait farm. Slugs are easy to aquire, and grubbies are plentiful. 3. Next up, liquid farm, namely honey. You only need two buckets, but I suggest 4-6 in case you mess up with the start. Can be done manually, and 5-10m will yield more than enough honey. Poor water into and collect your honey blocks. 4. Get the angler NPC. Setup fishing holes in select biomes that are easy to access, or setup a number of artifical biomes and fishing holes. 5. do your Angler quests every day. before long you'll have potions, and namely the golden rod, and all fishing gear. 6. Go to the ocean with fishing potions and crate potions, hold off on opening any other crate than ocean crates. Fish up ocean crates until you get the water walking boots. 7. Go to hell and get some hellstone and Obsidian. You will need to beat the BoC or EoW first. Farm a moderate amount of hellstone, and also look for bugs to catch in your lavaproof bug net. A couple of NPCs near or in hell will help spawn bait critters. Using sonar potions and only reeling in obsidian crates will dramaticly reduce the number of lava bait needed. Craft the 8. Use sonar, fishing and crate potions until you catch obsidian crates and have the lava-proof fishing hook (can use normal bait now) and/or the molten lava charm. This can be done pre-skeletron.
this is a really good video keep up the good work man! (I'm really surprised you only have 1k subs, this is really impressive for such a small channel)
I love summoner, it's one of my favorite classes, which is why it hurts me to say summoner is extremely fucking under developed. 1.4 literally revolutionized the summoner class, it added a significant chunk of the staffs we see today, reworked some of the more useless weapons to make them viable, and even added a brand new weapon type that buffs your other summon weapons, and even after all that summoners are still struggling at nearly every point in progression. Look at pre hardmode, you start with three staffs to chose from, but the slime staff is so rare it's practically a gag weapon, the finch staff relies entirely on RNG so there's a good chance you won't get it, leaving you with the flinx set. later on you can get the vampire frog staff, but that's another one that relies on heavy RNG, and you can easily miss it, then your next weapon is unlocked after queen bee, then the next once you reach the underworld, that's three weapons that you can reliably get in all of pre hardmode. The whips are worse, you start with the leather whip, which you have to put a decent amount of work into to even unlock, then you can craft the snapthorn in the jungle, then when you beat Skeletron you finally craft the spinal tap, again, that's three whips for the first fifty percent of the game, that's a huge problem
About summoner, It's way more powerful now. They massively buffed all ai and whips actually work, plus 2 new pre hm armor sets. I would reccommend checking it out again!
Great review. Found your channel thanks to this and I will definitely enjoy my stay. Also I literally only had one single Lava charm spawned in my world and had to use Tedit to find it after about 5 hours of trying to find it so I know your pain. Also you should try calamity mod.
Summoner is low-key the strongest class from early hm (pre mech about) to endgame, which is post moon lord, then meld outshines it. Also, for the wall of flesh fight right click the top eye of the wof with vampire frog staff and hold a meme weapon with the sharpening station buff and you can average much more then mage.
I actually find summoner pretty playable now, even early game - summon potions, rage/wrath, flinx coat and staff - you can just about scrape by the queen bee if you make use of whips and the obsidian armour. after that it seems on par with other classes. I never bother with the frog staff
An extremely well made video. Your channel is absolutely underrated for having ONLY 434 subs. God damn. I can't wait to see what type of content you'll make in the future.
I play mana class it's mage + summon it works like that 1)summon your summons 2)dodge if your out of mana and attack if your mana is full the summons will do passive dammege while you dodge 3)profit
yeah...sounds bout right, summoner is the easiest one to get wrong, but is also the one who can dish out the most while being the most safe...you just need the skill for that
4:44 it's an omnichomatic lotus butterfly. Also, wheee, Night of Nights. I wonder how many Touhou characters we can recreate using vanity items. Reimu? Marisa? Sakuya? Reisen as a ranger class?
Great video and you bring up some great points that many players overlook (like summoner hardly being a class on its own) but some of the "jokes" there overstay their welcome or seem kinda random. Great review anyway
Btw U can Fish Pre-Hardmode with a gold fishing rod and use a golden net to get the bait, I got my Crate Second reel And got lava charm first try. Btw Thats just bc Im lucky

The only thing I disagree with is the opinion on master mode, master mode should have more extras to make it worth playing, but the whole point of it is to create the hardest possible experience for the truly most hardcore players, it's not designed for the casual or new player. If you want a more difficult version and haven't spent over 500 hours on the game, just play expert mode, because thats what its designed for. Anyways, good video, I just disagree with that :)

I just found this channel and youre fricking hilarious. +1 subscriber
I was 3 hours into Hardmode, just chillin in the underground Hallow, and got the Rod Of Discord. Life wouldn’t be the same without it.
Voice sounds amazing!
I play mana class it's mage + summon it works like that
1)summon your summons
2)dodge if your out of mana and attack if your mana is full the summons will do passive dammege while you dodge
3)profit
You didn't talk about the building part. This is the best part.
Best game. 10/10 - would get eviscerated by wall of flesh again.
Bro wdym eviscerated you can kill it with a godamn spine
yeah...sounds bout right, summoner is the easiest one to get wrong, but is also the one who can dish out the most while being the most safe...you just need the skill for that
The Empress Of Light (EOL) is the ultimate vibe check.
Am I a bad person for actually liking liquorice?
Yes. Go to hell do not collect $200.
@@FlexofFunk flex you absolute spud, and have flushed all credibility by disliking liquorice.
@@randompubguy I HAVE A SPOON, YOUR ARGUMENT IS INVALID.
Only if it's not black liquorice. Reds really good.
2:15 *coughs in all of the awesome looking pets*
I reckon they just clutter up and already busy screen, sometimes I miss out on stuff purely by how over the top what I'm seeing is
@@FlexofFunk oh, that makes more sense. I personally really like them.
"Once the sequel is released"
*Sad Terraria: Otherworld noises*
14:00 or you can get incredibly lucky and get the lava charm from your first crate that only took a minute to catch.
I've found that making enormous totally over-the-top farms is very helpful
Love this! Played it for years, good review!
the guide tells you what to do and anything with material in the name you can see what you can make with it
The way he described classes is exactly how I describe classes to other people
13:04 Guide NPC literally tells you all of these things.
Also Obsidian Armor (pre-hardmode Summoner Armor) can carry it to Mech bosses.
Btw U can Fish Pre-Hardmode with a gold fishing rod and use a golden net to get the bait, I got my Crate Second reel And got lava charm first try. Btw Thats just bc Im lucky
This Channel has a Great Potential
daniel: master mode
the cooler daniel: revengeance mode
Journey mode never feels like trying to beat the game and instead just trying to get everything in the game into your collection
6:40 finally, some love for the shadowflame knife
Potion in other games:5% damage increase.
Potion in terraria: fucking flame rings and gravity manipulation
This video is awesome! Its like Ahoy talking about video games instead of guns.
Lmaooo

Throwing: Allow me to introduce myself
oh yeah. I always forget: explore the dungeon first if your new. old man says something about "talk to me at night if you wish to enter" but that triggers a boss, so just walk in the front door instead, he forgot to lock it :p
He’s a true Australian which is perfect in a review so I’m liking this
Why does this not have millions of views?
Because unfortunately the hype for Terraria has died down significantly. This review is so professional made that I'm sure it would have had a million views when a million people still played Terraria.
@@Ryan-uu8oz his information about summoner is so inaccurate and biased it proves he doesent know about any of the 1.4 summoner buffs, which literally make it the best class. The review was ok, but the insane bias to mage and the hate on summoner is inaccurate and stupid
Raid the dungeon like it refused your art school application
There is a actually 2 pre hard mode armorsets for summoner
Terraria Calamity Review: Hell. not new. not fresh. just HELL
I’m over half way to 596 hours on it and I haven’t even had it for half a year (on pc version). I think I might have a problem.
8:46 they also have obsidian outlaw armor
I love the spy theme playing
Summoner is good in pre-hard mode and hard mode if you know what you’re doing.
That part about asking your friends if they want to hit a little too close to home
6:35 true. I never stick to one class specifically, I just combine all of them.
Can't believe how underated you are
Wow, a lot more than I was expecting, nice work!
The first time I saw a dungeon guardian I almost had a panic attack
You need more subs this content is fantastic
"there are other ways to get stronger" pulls out and rng weapon
Master mode is the only way to play this game if you are at least decent and have experience with expert mode ai patterns. Just cause the pets you get are cool
15:13 meanwhile the first time I played the game the very first chest I opened had it in it and I was like “yeah that’s cool” and I replace my aglet for that
Somehow in the 360 days of terraria I knew how to do wall of flesh without looking it up
Btw summons block the hitbox of enemies.. means noone else can hit them...
The guide tells you a ton of tips and how to progress if you click on help. I got to the moonlord without looking at the wiki purely based on what the guide told me. (guide npc)
I once got a dungeon that had several golden chests before the guardian even spawned
*Dude that's had this game from launch* : 500+ hours
*Me, severely regretting my life choices* : 700+ hours
*Me, with no life* : 2500 hours
Which is around 3 months....
I've had this game for 3 years
8:46 only 1 armor, 5 summons, and 2 whips?
Even though this guy doesn't i would definitely reccomend doing master mode and summoner, maybe both at the same time. It's really fun
I am a dedicated ranger, though I always have a good sword, you always need a good sword, no matter what class, I also got a godly star fury before I killed eye of Cthulhu.
Lava Charms actually only spawn in the lava layer in the cavern layer
you're a very cool youtuber, remember me when your channel blows up
i found two lava charms pretty easily
never knew that they were hard to get
8:45 you're really gonna do Obsidian armor dirty like that? Whips + feral claws + obsidian set + maybe imps? = summoner is actually fun
I remember the moment when me and my other friends defeated moon lord for the first time and you don’t get that same feeling 2 time
The only thing I disagree with is the opinion on master mode, master mode should have more extras to make it worth playing, but the whole point of it is to create the hardest possible experience for the truly most hardcore players, it's not designed for the casual or new player. If you want a more difficult version and haven't spent over 500 hours on the game, just play expert mode, because thats what its designed for. Anyways, good video, I just disagree with that :)
litterally no one:
