Love your videos ! Do you drive an Ontario plated car ? Have you run into any issues coming down or while on your road trips around PV?
Thank you! Yes we do! We can keep our Ontario plates until we get permanent residency at which point you need to import it or sell it! I’ve had to issues driving around here. There is a process to follow if you do drive across the border here so just make sure to follow that!
Thank you and subscribed! We are going to Puerto Vallarta in January and I think you tips will be very useful, especially the pedestrian non-right of way, 😬. In addition to being helpful, you seem like nice people!
We're glad you're enjoying the videos! It's the little thins that are usually the most helpful lol , so we hope it helps!
EXPATriate: to remove oneself from native land.
💯
Any protestant churches?
I’m not sure it’s best to google the sort of information 😀
Love your podcasts!!! Want to hear more about your take on schools! How are your kids doing at school? How do you feel about Mexican education
Thank you 😊 we will be doing an episode soon about parenting here in PV. We send our kids to a small, full Spanish Montessori and they love it. There’s all kinds of private school here and we also know a family that sends theirs to public and they seem to like it.
Nice job. Can't wait to be there in two weeks.
Thank you! Enjoy your trip 😊
LOVE PV BEEN GOING THERE FOR THE LAST 25 YRS. I PREFER LOW SEASON. LOVE IT
Low season is great here!
Let the lady talk more….she’s more approachable and pertinent in her words and opinions
No
I am from the States and moved here 6 years ago. I have permanent residency . I call myself an expat = "Ex. Patriot " . It's more of a statement "about leaving" the US and not really about " being here ". I still hold my US passport.. my primary language is English almost exclusively. My bank accounts are in the US , as is my Business connection. . I would call myself an immigrant if I became a citizen of Mexico with full voting privileges and carried a Mexican passport as I live completely within the system. I see the term "immigrant" as being fully, absolutely immersed in the country having moved to. I think the entire argument about Expat versus immigrant title among ourselves is just ridiculous. You may call yourself whatever you wish. Why do others feel the right to call you out on how you see yourself in the world.. it's just an opinion and everyone has one and perhaps because it is an aging community here. It's much more testy. A lot of people , as the age, just get angrier instead of just enjoying life more and more with a devil may care attitude..
Thank you for sharing and we totally agree. The debate over words is insane to us lol
whats xpat
Apparently it's a synonym for "Evil foreigner"
I truely love what your saying
Thank you so much :)
Marc & Kathleen, I really enjoyed this discussion, and excited to hear about the upcoming videos you have coming. The short term and Long term rental tips will be very helpful. Many travellers try to find credible information online, and sometimes it is hit or miss. So, what you are doing is very much appreciated. I like that you are both exploring other parts of Mexico, and from what you describe, there is more to the region than is known. Puerto Vallarta is considered a small town, yet still growing. I am curious to know how big PV is now. Is it still smaller than a place like Toronto? The neighboring towns, are they far away or close enough to visit by bus for a day? I like learning about the different neighbourhoods. Thanks for keeping this channel positive and real. Victor
P.S: Is the Toll road to guadalajara finished now?
Yes it is!
Thanks Victor! We're looking forward to exploring a lot more. I just checked and PV supposedly has a little over half a million in population including surrounding areas. It's certainly growing every single day.
What a great conversation. As someone who is now so uncertain of her own country due to unimaginable poltiical disconnect, you two really approach this topic with so much kindness and respect. I am so grateful for the people in this world that can retain their curiosity and respect for different cultures and understand that we all mostly want the same things in this life-- love, peace and understanding. Thank you!!
Thank you for watching and we feel the same way! 😊
Please feel free to share my contact information with the person about whom you were speaking having a more conservative opinion. I've also heard immigrants referred to as Pilgrims in history
I mean I don’t have your contact information to share with him lol Also I’d say randomly 95% of the people we hang with lean more conservative.
I don't do Facebook or any social media except Telegram
Love telegram 😊
Politics aside, I do think that US culture has elevated complaining to an art form. We experience something negative (a delay, a mishap, an odd or slightly unpleasant encounter) and we can't wait to relay this to our friends and family, and in the telling we make it into a good story (not pointing fingers, I was very adept at spinning these fun stories myself!). Now that I'm immersed in Mexican culture (and am avoiding US news and most social media) I do find that it is highly off-putting. When living there (US) it's just the norm; out of the US it's negative and draining. It's not that Mexicans never complain, it's just that they're more laid back in general and go with the flow. Recently delayed 2+ hours in a small bus due to a traffic issue (malfunctioned truck blocking highway, no alternative routes around it). There was no complaining. Zero. No heavy sighs. No tongue clucks. No negative body language. There was also no cell service in this mountainous rural area. Some got off the bus to do their business in the dark roadside; most just hunkered down watching the movie on the screen. It was glorious! I have found plenty of foreign residents who do continue this here, and it's hard to be around. Carry on!
We feel the exact same way. Canada has become very similar. People connect on negative events that happen in their life, or negative irrelevant events on the news. It really took a toll on our overall mood and happiness when we went back to Toronto this summer. It has become the culture there, if you bring it up people get offended.
12:16 yesssss
🌮 🌴 🌊
Nice Hey here in the USA the air feels negative very toxic and i mean people lol everywhere you go people are angry and look depressed something bad going on here .I do have a home in mexico up in Los Altos Jalisco best weather up there clean and nice people with tons of fiestas always something going on and thats where im moving to in a couple of years.Good Video
I would have thought the mood just improved though
PESO-USD sxchange rate as of 11/22/24 is back to 20:1, so thats not an issue now.
🚀🚀🚀
What would u call seasonal migrant workers who are in the U.S. for 6 months at a time? They don't stay permanently, only come to work, they live and work on agricultural farms all day everyday. Are they expats, migrants, immigrants, aliens👽?
I’d call them seasonal migrant workers and if they called themselves expats I’d be like 👍🏼 Expat used to have to have a more specific meaning but now it’s widely used. We are proud immigrant here in MX and make the efforts to assimilate and learn about this beautiful culture and country!
Hi guys, as a felow canadian living in a suburd of toronto, i have thought about moving to PVR. im wondering if you have had any regrets about leaving? Maybe a video about this would be helpful for others
Hello fellow Canadian 🍁 the short answer is no! We don’t regret it, if for any reason we went back Canada and corporate jobs will always be there waiting for us! Are biggest regret in life would have been not doing it! That’s a great topic for a video - we have one planned on things we do regret/ things we would do differently.
well if you are looking for a place to rent for 3-6 months in la cruz de huanacaxtle, check out casa nayita. beautiful pool, ac, internet, only 6 units. 4 blocks to the beach by the marina. cafe next door. great little town and great place to stay!
Thank you so much for the recommendation! La Cruz looks great!
I have heard that artificial intelligence has take out a lot of people from teaching English here in Puerto Vallarta it was like a really good way to make money and it no longer exists
I am honestly not sure but I wouldn't be surprised! It's unfortunate because there's no better way to learn than speaking with another person!
San Sebastian is beautiful and its history is very interesting. The coffee plantation is pretty and has a lot of delicious products for sale. The church is very pretty and i hope to go back again
Thanks we will make sure to check those out next time. We did have some great coffee when we were there! It's beautiful there.
Sending you guys only positive vibes. 👍👍
Thanks Francisco right back at ya 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Bangin podcast! Love the topic selection! To the audience, don’t lead with political conversations. Love, live life yall!
It used to be fun to have conversations with people that have differing opinions 🤷♂️ media has convinced us it's threatening. I guess we'll just connect on love, positivity and happiness ✌🏼
It's kind of disappointing to hear to Canadian's being annoyed by US politics. Dumping on progressives being negative. As if you don't know - or simply don't care about women's rights, racism, white supremacy, or US citizen's rights. Our country is crisis - and if people want to talk about it, don't listen.
We're actually very much into American politics...significantly more than Canadien politics actually lol we just don't make it our whole personality. Id say it can't get much worse than it already is - we're hopeful and excited for whats to come 🙂 America is a beautiful country!!!
You guys are awesome! Keep up the great vlogs! I'm looking forward to seeing your short-term long-term info video. My husband and I are looking forward to going to PV. thinking of moving to Mexico permanently.
Thanks! We’re so excited to be able to share that one 😊
San Sebastian is beautiful little town. We have been there twice. We are about to spend the first week in December in P.V. Can't wait to eat the tasty tacos again.
Can't wait to visit there :) Had some tasty tacos today!!!
@@Morelifediaries we wait to try out Pepe's Tacos too!
@@watdahek2 Lol it's good but not the best! It'll def hit the spot!
I don't like those "seasonal" tourist locations. Everyone gets excited about people with money coming in, then depressed when people leave. Prices go too high, then too low.
I honestly feel like even beyond the $$$ the vibe of the place changes completely! Thankfully we’re isolated form a lot of that because of where we live!
The geckos are insectivorous so they like to munch on cockroaches along with other insect pests. They don't bite you and are perfectly safe to have living in your home. Cockroaches don't like the smell of citrus so leaving some orange peels around outside your doors into your house helps keep them from just walking in. Mint grows great in PV and that works great to keep them away. Using borax kills them. Buena suerte!
Thanks for the great tips! We always keep the geckos around they’re great for killing insects. We’ve tried just about everything else for ants and nothing worked until we got our place fumigated! We didn’t want to have it done but it worked great!
Looking forward to that short term rental info. I need 2 weeks in June. Best to you both! adios!
We’ll try and get that info out soon! Thanks for watching 😊
MLD logo is asking to be red white and green :) Best part of PV/Mexico travel is being able to shut off the politics and not dealing with that and just interacting with people one human level. Sounds like all is well with you, great to hear...hope you enjoyed your trip(s).
Thank you and you’re right on the 🎯 with that. It feels like so many people fall so deep in the fear mongering propaganda they forget who THEY are!

I'm an AirBB person, I enjoy the local aspect, but I also have my own personal beliefs that AirBB is destroying affordable living for all people in any tourist area (USA, CA, MX) so my suggestion would be to build a repeatable presence where locals can bypass AirBB and go strait to the owner. I do understand that people that revisit AirBBs usual make deals on the side after staying there once, but maybe consider including short and semi long term rentals into your real estate ventures? e: My tip would be: if you find an AirBB you like deal with them directly to book in the future.
I’m kind of new to TH-cam via researching Moving to PV. I’ve noticed some people just like to criticize like they think it’s their job.
They certainly do! Facebook groups are INSANE 😭 some people hate being positive and helpful!

Hola
Hola 🙂
I gotta ask, how did you do it? How did you leave Canada to make Mexico your new home? We are trying to do this.
Got our visas, sold everything and left! Leading up to it worked on some new skills that could potentially earn us money. It seems complicated to leave but it really isn’t lol. The most difficult part is leaving loved ones behind. We’re still in the process of figuring it out but does that ever even end 😂
@@Morelifediaries thanks for your reply, we understand, we've lived in PV previously and we're trying to return!
This is beautiful. Halloween and Dia de los Muertos. The costumes look great and everyone is having fun. They seem to take it to a whole other level. I am glad you all had a good time. Victor
Thank you! It’s definitely a fun time to be in PV!
Great Video! I'm planning on taking a trip to PV soon with my girlfriend, around january. My dad seems to think it won't be safe, so I was just wondering your guys take on this seeing as you live there? Would it be safe for me and my girlfriend? Neither of us speak spanish and we both look hispanic..
It’s very safe but it’s easy to get in trouble depending on what activities you take part in! Just don’t do anything you wouldn’t do back home and you should be fine!
After all the Halloween goodies, can someone please suggest a dentist in Northern PV 😵💫 🙏
@@SuzyRed6 there are many around but we haven’t gone to one yet!

I haven't been to any of the Birriarias you have been to. I would like to try them. My favorite is in Versalles. Birriaria Don Pancho cart with sit in tables. Corner of Viena and Niza. They were my first and I haven't liked any I've tried anywhere else as much as Don Pancho's. I think they put cinnamon or anise in it, just a touch, but makes all of the difference. I order them blandito with onion and cilantro and of course the consomme. With a nice aguas fresca. I hope you check them out. I just subscribed. 😊
Thank you for watching and subscribing! I haven't gone to Don Pancho's yet but drive by it daily. I'll add it on the list to try out next. Thank you
@@MorelifediariesI hope you enjoy them! I might have to cheat on them with Manà's..😂

Liar 🤥!! As far as I know thousands have plans to move there!!!!
No lies we clearly state that we know people that have left and speak on the reasons why. The reality is a lot of people come and go…we’re discussing in the video the driving factors behind the decision to leave ✅✅✅
the guy is very soft spoken with a good lecturing voice, however i cannot agree with you in the slightest about horrible PV, the prices now are 2 to 3 times that of say Guadalajara where I live now. PV is not really Mexico anymore, its some kind of weird Miami Beach experience without the good usa customer service. not only is the price level out of this world due to the Mexican high ongoing inflation but also the very poor exchange rate of the euro and us dollar , not to mention the can. dollar also. Mexico is booming now and they have massive foreign investment and do not need or want our tourist dollars. I know PV well and used to go anno 1987 and into that time frame when it was far more affordable. Not only are the abusive "white face taxes" very high in PV the customer service and treatment in the restaurants and such is extremely poor. The attitude is : if you dont like it , get lost, the next tourist ( we can abuse) is around the corner. And, I speak good Spanish. We dont encounter that as much in Guadalajara at all. I think PV sucks and would never ever return to there for any length of time. In Guadalajara most of the expats and foreigners left during and before covid, when it was starting, and never came back. I dont see at all the level of foreign tourists here at all and after covid they mostly did not come back. Since PV is so very expensive now and also looks to abuse the average foreign tourist, there are many other worldwide resorts in that price category of non cheap where one gets a much better treatment and also more bang for the buck. The couple presenting seems nice enough and sincere enough however why someone would remain in PV, not to mention the terrible summers there, is beyond me. What about your massive Ac bill you will have there summers in the hundreds of dollars USD? We do not have that in Guadalajara where it is a dry semi desert climate with no humidity, not even summers. Yiou vastly underestimate the costs now in PV when you say it has become " a bit" more expensive. the fact is tha it has more than doubled over just a few years ago given that the foreign currencies also now are near worthless in overpriced Mexico. My Walmarts Mexico close to my house is much much more expensive than Walmarts USA and by far. So much for my commentary. Nonetheless I did subscribe and gave you a thumps up but you need to not whitewash what PV really costs now. Just say, it costs the same as home in the usa but for less quality than you would have home. case closed ! Saludos, RM, Guadalajara , Mexico where I have been in and out since 1984 !
Hola, thank you for sharing subscribing 😊 respectfully our channel is sharing our experience with living in Mexico. We’ve been here for 2 years so we’re not giving historical comparisons on cost of living - this is not that kind of channel and I think we make that obvious. For some people PV is ruined, for some like us it’s perfect and it’s home. Our price comparison is Toronto and I can comfortable say we spend about 1/3 of what our cost of living was in Toronto. We have cost of living episodes breaking down what we spend on a monthly basis - you can check that out if you’re curious 😊
Love it!!!
Thank you :)
Saludos vecinos! Puerto Vallarta es muy amigable 🎉
Saludos y claro que sí - mucho más que Toronto jaja!
Cost of living rising in states too if you’ve been gone for only 2-5 yrs and you’d be shocked to see how unaffordable it is to live in US. It’s going to get worse because of current political changes. Now is the time to leave
We're canadian so our cost of living has been bananas for a very long time lol We we're back in Toronto for the first time in 2 years this summer and it's very expensive.
