Hello! Yes a 2-speed gearbox deliver both more torque and speed as it has a low and a high gear. To install it is rather simple: Remove the body off the chassis to access the motor/gearbox unit. Remove 3 screws on each side of the unit. Put the 2-speed motor/gearbox unit there and mount with the same 3 screws on each side. BUT, and that´s a big BUT, you also need to change the radio/esc equipment as you need a 3-channel radio to control the gearshift. That also means you can´t use the standard lights, with turnsignals, backlight and so, that I guess you have on your 99S. You also must change the driveshafts as, if I remenber right, the standard driveshafts are fixed to the gearbox and front/rear axles. An easier way to get more torque is, as I se it, to mount a single speed metal gearbox with 370 motor. It fits right into the chassis and I´m sure you can just plug it into the stock radio/esc unit. @@_.hondziarz._2203 Yes, I guess you can, if you make some kind of lever or tool to lock it in low gear. Hopefully the stock MN esc is powerful enough to feed the 370 motor that comes with the 2-speed box, but there´s no guarantee... I enclose a link to the 2-speed gearbox where you can se how it looks. Thank you very much for commenting, really glad you like what I do! The trailing arm conversion was, at least for me, a little easier than a four link conversion, as I had the aluminum profile handy. With rubber bushings on the axle mounts it is both stable and flexible, works great! Also nice to read about your holiday memories from Portugal. That´s where I´ve seen this type of bed too, well not in Portugal but on Madeira, just a couple of years ago, they were rather common there! 😊😊

@Georgieframe My HPI Mini Trophy uses trailing arms, and it's very capable. Though you carried out the conversion in order to allow clearance for the dually set-up, it ended up making this the most interesting MN82 conversion I've seen so far.

And battery in the front is a must for me, as I mostly drive in the garden with steep slopes and ledges. Cutting open a hard plastic bonnet is also a good test of patience, that I like! Fun to read your story about turning the white spoke wheels inside out! I remember that some guys did the same thing with the old type VW wheels, before 1967, in the back. The cars looked very much faster than they were that way! 😊😊

@Georgieframe One of my friends even re-drilled his rims so he didn't have to lie on the ground and grope blindly for the valve every time he wanted to check his tyre pressures. The rest of us just suffered.

I already have some speed-monsters on the shelf so I don´t need to go brushless with this. An advantage with using the stock equipment is that the neighbours, and others, small children can handle it when they come and visit. That´s also fun! 😊😊

I use the 2 speed gearbox sold by WPL, that fits most of their cars. The gears are shifted with a micro servo, that comes with the gearbox, so you need a 3-channel radio to operate it. Thanks for watching my channel! Which is the best of B36 and C24 is really a matter of taste, it depends on what kind of car you want. B36 is 6wd with leafsprung suspension, C24 is 4wd with fourlink suspension and coil spring shocks. If you want a crawler C24 has more suspension travel but the 6wd also make the B36 very capable. Both cars need upgrades to be capable crawlers, though. If you look at price C24 is about 20 dollars cheaper than B36, either you buy a ready to run or a kit version. Which means you have more money left to upgrade the C24. Well, guess that´s what I can say about it! Good luck if you are going to buy a car! 😊😊

Olá! Eu uso o motor WPL 370 padrão da caixa de câmbio de 2 velocidades. Basta pressionar o pinhão cerca de 2 milímetros a mais no eixo do motor e ele se encaixa perfeitamente na caixa de câmbio C64-1. @@francistrilheiro3817 Acredito que você pode colocar uma caixa de câmbio wpl de 2 velocidades, mas pode ser necessário fazer algumas alterações na carroceria ou na suspensão para que ela se encaixe. Eu mesmo não fiz isso e não vi ninguém fazer, então não posso prometer que funcionará. Outra coisa: se você colocar uma caixa de 2 velocidades no carro, precisará ter outro rádio e controlador de velocidade, pois precisa de pelo menos 3 canais para controlar a troca de marchas. Yes, you can if you use a "mild" 370 motor like the standard WPL 370, that is normally used in the 2-speed gearbox. It works very good, with excellent torque and low speed control, at least in my car. I don't know though if it works with a high speed 370 motor, like the black RBR/C 52000 rpm motor. It may burn or simply cut off with such a motor - but with the WPL 370, or similar, it's perfect! 😊😊

Hello! No, the standard WPL 370 motor, meant for 2-speed gearbox, is a little slower, but has much more torque and better low speed performance, all with the stock electronics. There are faster 370 motors though but I dont know how they will work with the stock radio/esc as they consume more amps. The esc may burn or just cut off due to overwork. Hello! Thank you for watching and commenting and for your interest! It sounds like you have bought an MN 99s or similar car. To convert into brushless you need to buy some stuff, that´s clear... You need a brushless motor with esc and a radio to control it (the stock radio equipment does not work with brushless). I use a WPL 2-speed gearbox, which I would recommend, for both low and high speed performance. To control the gearbox the radio must have at least 3 channels. I have replaced the plastic gears with metal ones. You also need to replace the plastic driveshafts with metal ones. The stock lighting with turn signals and reverse lights will not work with a new radio so you must replace it also, if you want lighting on the car. All this will cost you a little more than the car itself... If you are into the hobby for a while you can use the radio to control several cars - I control 4 to 6 cars with the same transmitter and several receivers, which holds the cost down. Hello! I can recommend it! I use a wpl standard 370 motor from a 2-speed gearbox (in which I´ve put a brushless motor) and I am pleasantly surprised with how it performs. I just had to press the pinion about 2 millimeter further in on the shaft, then it fits perfect in the gearbox. With the stock radio/esc it has fantastic low speed control and the power is more than enough for climbing the steepest obstacles. It´s not fast but for crawling and driving in tough terrain it´s perfect! 👍👍😊😊

@@Im4evergrateful70 Yes, to put a 2-speed transmission in you must upgrade to at least 3-channel radio. There are some different options. Personly I like Dumbo RC 6-channel radio, which can also control winch and other extras. Then you also need a separat esc, preferably one that can handle 3s battery, if you want more speed. Also WPL RES-V3 radio works very good. It comes with a sound module, can shift gears and control a winch, also turn lights and sound on and off. It has combined receiver/esc unit and it can take 3s battery if you want. A downside is that with 2s battery it´s a little less powerful than a separate 40 or 60 amp esc. @@TomWest-ir5vq Hello! The simple answer is NO! I tried to use a brushed 390 on it and it got so hot that the built in cooling fan melted and the motor collapsed. The gearing was simply to high. I recommend using a WPL 2-speed gearbox instead, it's much better!

@@TomWest-ir5vq Wouldn´t recommend that either. This was a fun experiment when i modified an aftermarket singlespeed gearbox to use first a brushless 370 motor and then a brushed 390. None of them actually worked well, because the gearing was way too high. These gearboxes are made for mounting a 370 motor with reduction between the motor and gearbox, which means power at low speed but no high speed at all. If you want speed I recommend a WPL 2-speed gearbox, which kan take all kinds of 370 motors - brushless. normal brushed or high speed brushed motor, and deliver both low and high speed. Another option that can also work is getting an all metal gearbox (singlespeed) for D12, you can find it for example on Aliexpress, that can take different 370-type motors. This gearbox only have output för rear wheel drive but it can rather easily be modified with a longer outputshaft to support 4 wd.
