my vw 4 is due for some work so will be out of action. well that's where the new wheels come in. i am going to similar to this with my nissan leaf mk1. i already use this for all my local running around to save the T4 and its so cheap to run. my build will be similar to yours but the leaf being larger won't have to remove any seats plus i can use the climate control . i may not have to miss out my little overnights to the coast.

IV got one of those. I did almost 180 miles on less than £20 fuel. Also does 65mph in 2nd gear 😂

I love watching videos from overseas and the things you guys are allowed to do. Here in Australia we aren't allowed to remove seats without having an engineers report as it's considered a change in the construction of the vehicle and may, apparently, affect the structural integrity of the vehicle. I have always had many ideas for little vehicles. Enjoy your little car camper.

This is something I have toyed with as well. It's interesting how many people transition from just living in a van to seeking out adventures. Maybe it's in our blood 🤷🏻‍♂️

Now, after I’ve seen just about the basics of everything, it’s still not too late to elevate your bed frame just may be 2 inches and then you could put a sliding shelf underneath it so when you were stopped, you could use it to cook off of & set up your meal prep stuff. You could get extra creative and put some hinges on it and extend it even further. Then you wouldn’t have to carry anything loose and it would be easy to pack away.

Just pull the whole backseat out lots more possibilities lots more room

This is pretty cool. A quick, easy and affordable solution. I would recommend drilling some holes with a forstener bit into the wood underneath the matress for better air ventilation. Humidity can dry of easier and it eventually prevents mould.

Just found your interesting videos, Jake. We were caravanners, two classic sixties vans. My husband rebuilt one of them. One of my sons is a vet, thirty odd years service in RAF and the Reserves.

You made the right decision. The car was far too small.. Our UK weather is wet enough for camping, without being in a steamed up tiny space. Most unhealthy.

In a car that size, keep some tea-light candles in the glove box. If other systems fail (petrol/diesel runs out &/or exhaust is blocked) just 1 or 2 - they burn for 4hrs on average - can be enough to make the difference between overnight hypothermia or not, if caught in a snowdrift, blizzard, storm, etc.
