    kinda proud to realize that with my newly sharped knife, i don't even want to press them against my fingers without sliding them. with another knife that I just bought i can slightly slide it and it feels smooth and safe.

    Benchmade knives are cool if you want a fidget spinner. If you want a knife, get a Spyderco. The axis lock is very unreliable … but fun to fidget with.

    I respect you opinion. However it is an absolute horrible take. Clearly you are in the minority when it comes to the compression lock since it extremely well known that the compression lock is extremely reliable and tough. If you dont like the brand, thats fine. However claiming that they only use the lock for the fidget factor is blasphemy.

    This is the reason knives come this way! Us redknecks have ALWAYS carried our knives this way (all of our knives) for deployment reasons! Tip up is for people that only plan to open boxes and letters all day...

    Hell of a video! Best explanations I've seen. Only thing I'd add is, I lube nylon washers not so much for smoothness but to prevent washer wear from friction. Whether it really helps or not, idk but it certainly won't hurt. Never thought about the pivot just holding the blade in place when it's open. I prefer phosphor bronze personally but if the knife is well made, it doesn't too much matter to me.

    I love Benchmade and the only 2 premium knives I have are Benchmde. That being said, any Spiderco in the same steel would have been $100+ cheaper and would do the same thing, for life. I do like Benchmade's lifetime sharpening, I like their designs and I like that they're made in the USA, so I continue to buy from them.

    A scrap of wood, an old piece of leather and some double side tape and you have a fresh surface to charge. Thank you Paul Sellers. Why waste time and materials to rejuvenate a damaged strop? As I understand, the abrasive particles are suspended in a wax compound which is absorbed into the leather using friction. The cutting surface is the suspended particles. All this work on the leather doesn't make sense. If you have a wax buildup, scrape it back and apply fresh compound.

    When feathersticking I have noticed that flat (the one in puukko knivcs with 2ndary bewel) is superior to hollow grind, but with slices the hollow is better. I think it might have something to do with hollow biting more and thus allowing a narrower angle range in which it works well. Puukko in turn can be held in almost any angle and it feathersticks still. Opinions?

    Can't recall another youtuber discuss shelf life and spare parts yet that's the difference between a functional knife and a letter opener. I waited months for a replacement stop pin from Miguron because the original was out of spec and chewed up due to the front flipper jimping contacting the pin scoring it all around. Many emails to Sam Luo with pics, precision measurements of the pin (former machinist) for resolution. When I finally recieved a few pins from China none of them were the correct size for my Akri. Shame, because the Akri is a nice design but it is literally a paperweight on my desk now. Thanks to Sam for trying to help but no more cheap Chinese knives for me. There is nothing cheap about a tool that is not dependable or serviceable.

    Heat gun for green or white and spread with a wide putty knife. It’s all gonna end up slick regardless how much you sand

      I don’t even see what the leather actually does once it’s really loaded 🤷‍♂️ I get razor sharp edges though

  • @e.t.preppin7084
    @e.t.preppin7084 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I would be done in less than 1 minute and been loading already. Instantly being back like you started. Now I just throw on more compound instead of going through all this. When loaded with compound you don’t feel any leather anymore anyways.

  • @e.t.preppin7084
    @e.t.preppin7084 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I go right to the orbital and get it off and fluff up the leather just a bit and reapply compound. Works great and fast

  • @beaunaro
    @beaunaro 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Nice to watch 15 minutes of sanding, when all you need is a 30 sec demo and state “ start with olive oil, wipe clean, repeat several times till clean, sand from 100 to 1000 grit, either apply dmt paste, dmt spray, or Vaseline. Rub it in….done.” You’ve got a great future as the world’s most boring u-tuber. Bu5 hey….how fun it is to listen to yourself talk. Thank God for fast fwd. SMH
