The Belgian Malinois should have ranked #1.. Belgains are smarter and have more common sense than most humans.. There minds are so sharp and they learn like no other breed.. I am retired law enforcement and have been around the breed for 35 years. I own 3 female Malinois's and they are amazing!!

My New Zealand heading dog is smarter than I am and I can trust him 100%.

I just looked up Coren's list and Bloodhound is ranked 74th. I have to disagree with that.

So leaving your dog in a prison cell sized cage in the backyard would be a good thing? Lots of stimulation.

My Mastiff can stay at home for 12 hours pretty easy

The smartest and best dogs are not breeded! They are simple street dogs - adopt a street dog - don't buy a bred dog!!!!!!!!!!!

We have a dog door so the dogs can come and go as they please with several acres of fenced yard. They also have horses & cattle to play with when we're gone.

I have always been very fond of dogs. Growing up, I had many dog friends although my parents would never let me own one. It wasn't until I was in my late 30s that I was settled enough to feel able to get a dog. I went to a shelter, and got a dog that they said was a"mixed breed". I spent days researching what she might be. She almost never barked, only to give alarm. She "talked." She made vocalizations, and, as the years passed actually learned so say understandable, "OW" (for "out") standing by the door when she wanted to go out, or "OR" (for "more) standing by her bowl when she wanted more dinner. Eventually I found that someone in a nearby city was breeding Australian dingoes. Everything matched, her size, her body, her four white feet. She must have been a dingo. She was BY FAR the smartest dog I have ever known. When I got her she was about a year old. For sixteen years she was my very best friend and companion. I still miss her to this day. I have other dogs and love them dearly, and one is very smart, and also tries to talk, but none are as smart as my first, my dingo.

The Rottweiler, Doberman and German Shepherd dogs are my top 3 dog breeds. Just in intelligence alone these dogs excel in most daily task and with outstanding athleticism and looks, for me I'm totally sold ❤🤩

I never thought I would be a dog owner until a tiny and very beautiful soul dog entered my life, thanks to my daughter, her name was BB... A tiny 10 lb Papillon. She won me over and we had a great 16 years together. I love her and miss her so much, Smart does not even begin to describe who she really was. We were true friends.

I had a white GSD mix, and we could never figure out id he was oh-so-smart or dmb as a sack full of hammers. We finally realized he was so smart that he knew how to play dumb. He had a winning disposition and was friendly to everybody except my best friend at the time, and his family. I have had four Norwegian Elkhounds through the years, and these dogs are incredibly intelligent. We had one that managed to scratch a hot spot in the middle of her bach, between her shoulder blades. She couldn't have reached that location with any paw or teeth, and it was a puzzle... until I washed her bedding. She had stacked her chew-bones under her blanket and rolled on them to scratch her itch. This means. in effect, that that dog had made a tool for a specific purpose. Another Elkhound would carry her food dish from her feeding location to the dining room to eat with the people. Yet another would, when she thought it was too hot inside, bark at the thermostat. The boy I have now, I'd say he's prettysmart. When the sign says _WET FLOOR,_ he does. BTW, How many border collies does it take to change a light bulb? One, "And while I was at it I brought that substandard wiring up to code."

As a pup, I had mine in the crate for a few hours in the morning until I checked her at lunch……until…..she learned to disassemble the crate. After that, we left her in the living room with the TV on and she did great!

My Miniature Schnauzer is the cleverest dog I have ever owned. She is crafty and intelligent, sometimes she amazes me 🥰

I purposely make sure my dog has views to the outside when I leave. I leave the door unlocked in case someone else has to let my dog out, in the event I have an unexpected delay.( no one is going to enter unless he knows them) Make sure water bowl is full. I put a dog movie on a few minutes before I leave, and the radio on for when the movie ends ( if I'm not back ) German Shepherd is always happy to see me return.

My current breed of doggo is the opposite of velcro pups. They enjoy companionship but can easily handle a 12 hour shift and greet me on the return. My favorite feature is knowing uninvited guests will get a very unfriendly welcome if they ignore the warnings

The frozen food thing is nice BUT take care: my dog almost died from eating 4, 5 grapes.. dont ever give them to your dog, neither raisins. They are like poison, avocado too. I never give my dog fruit unless I'm very sure its safe for him to eat. I am 60 and had dogs all my life; never knew this untill a few months ago.. So you see: never to old to learn!! I would take a bit sausage with a strong taste and freeze them for a hot summerday!

Pupper toys all over the place is called “the cutest minefield in the world.” Wake up in the middle of the night and trip over a stuffed squeaky elephant, or cut your foot on the sharp edge of a bone…

I'M the ONE who has separation anxiety when I'm away from my 3 furbabies. It's really bad...I don't want to leave them AT ALL.

My dog is fine whenever I leave...for the first 5 minutes.

4 hours tops get a dog sitter while your at work or at least a trusted friend on different hours for at least a good walk an too look after your home while your away even for a short time even too make sure they haven’t tipped a water dish.friend are always part of there pack

We are lucky, I'm a pensioner so we're together mostly. I had to leave today for 3 hours but I leave that dog music on for a couple of hours it seems to work ///////,,..

My dogs have a room with a bed, their toys, and a TV. So when I am not home, they still have entertainment. I also have a setup where I can see and talk to them on video off and on.

My dog is over 15.Been going to work since he was 13 weeks old. He's fine, well adjusted. It's all about routine. I used to leave the radio on, but he's deaf now. He has his timed pop up bowls. I do adjust the heating and fans. He has the same treat when I go out. I taught him if needs a wee to go in a litre tub in the bathroom so he doesn't hold it too long. He's been so adaptable I couldn't have asked for more.

I left my dog alone in the house for 3 weeks with only a small cup of food and a half cup of water. It was actually 15 minutes, but in dog years it was probably like 3 weeks. 😆🤣😂

When I leave I make sure the living room has a light on and the TV stays on!!!! My GSD gets ideas when it's too quiet!!! He knows how to open the front door and will if there isn't a TV on!!!

Well, I live alone and are very lonely , and would just adore a puppy! Unfortunately, I’m currently out of work, and are obviously looking for a job. Eventually ( hopefully ) I’ll get one. Probably be full time because I need the money. So, Regis is why I can’t have one! Be cruel for him, distressing for me! Just wouldn’t work! Mom and Dad have gone, hardly any family (who want to know me really ! Just bloody bugged! Just goes to show ya can’t have everything in life dunn it!

Excellent video, all though im pretty sure the bone segment mostly only applies to cooked bones, and dogs actually use bone material as fiber i believe, which i why it included in most dog foods in small amounts. In short,: raw bone good (mostly) cooked bone dangerous. especially bird bones.

Great videos and so many good advice. Dogs do suffer when they are alone they even suffer more when there is only one. I only realized that when i saw the eyes of my female dog so sad as i was leaving i realized she was suffering. so i rescued a little one who was roaming the estreet all alone and i was told she was straight. When my female dog saw her she was so please and she began teaching her what to do and how to do things because she was a belgian shepherd who are so motherly. As i am a pensionar now i hear my next door dog crying when she is working so i talk to the dog gently and he does calm down.

My dog was so lucky to have a back yard backing onto a park. She got many pats from school kids and people walking their dogs. Out the front yard she had the morning walkers giving her attention. No wonder she was so tired at night.

My 3 little dogs and two cats are ok when I go out for a few hours. I walk the dogs first for about 3 - 4 kms, turn soft music on and give them a dog bikkie when I head out. They are just waiting for me to get going.
