My doggit is fine being left alone. I came here just to see dogs. I love dogs.
I know. People should put a camera on. They sleep most of the time when you're not home.
Left doggo at home with the TV on. Got home, he had drank all my beer, ate all my snacks, and had binge watched every season of "The Walking Dead." We had agreed we would watch those episodes TOGETHER!
😆😆
Let's hope he doesn't spoil any of the episodes 😂

Ahahah

I'M the ONE who has separation anxiety when I'm away from my 3 furbabies. It's really bad...I don't want to leave them AT ALL.
I'm 75, retired, and stay home everyday, only leaving for dental/drs appt, grocery shopping and going to church. So I am with my two Jack Russell Terriers most all the time. One is about 8yrs old and the little one is 3-4 yrs old. I sit out on the back patio and let them do whatever they want to, but, usually they stick close to me. But have been known to go and check-out the neighbor's yard from time-to-time. I really hate the time away from them because our little "pack" spends so much time together.
Sometimes when I have a Drs appt at The VA, 60 miles away, the away time can get to 5+ hrs. I don't like it but it can not be helped. Whenever I go somewhere I have them sit down and i inform them what i have to do, tell them I love them and will be back as soon as possible.
What a lovely person your are awww❤😊
@@JulieIelasi-lt7yp thankx for the comment, but, let's not get carried away.🐕
My Jack Russell TERROR was 15 when I had to put her down Last November. I still haven't gotten over her. Hardly at all. She's been my Sole Companion for 15 years. I'm 63 years old so I believe I'm too old to responsibly get another pet/dog. I don't have the money for Vet Bills (emergencies) and I highly doubt I'm going to be around another 10-15 years .. if even 5.
So my doggy/pet days are over ... sadly.
Enjoy your Terriers while you've got them, friend. Cherish every moment because it's going to be a painful day when you have to part company.
It's the same with me, only my girl is a Pit mix; she is my best buddy. We rescued her 13 years ago when she was a yearling. After my husband passed she became my full-time protector. If i have to leave for appointments she seems to know ahead of time and settles down by the door to wait for my return. She is always by myside
@@SnowTiger45 I had to put my beautiful little sweetheart JRT down 3 years ago today , I’m still not over it , never will be we lived together for 17 and. 1/2 years on our boat she was my constant companion, there wasn’t a day that she didn’t make me laugh until she got old an was on her way out of this world. I was so heartbroken I honestly couldn’t talk for 2 weeks. Anyway JRT’s are wonderful pals the comedian’s of the K9 world . After she died ,my Mother died , the Marina that I live at for 25 years told all live aboard’s had to leave , l had to live in a tent for a year , I was having quit a hard time adjusting w/o a dog had to get another one Covid happened , then my Father died, also I couldn’t find a JRT but did find a mix I’m 69 yrs old living in a Van now just hope I can outlive my little friend. Great full to have solid walls around us . Still paying slip rent on my boat hope we can somehow get back onboard . I would be a mess if not for my little friend .
Recently I spent two stays in hospital. My dog is a rescue with a terrible history of abuse. As a result he can be a touch reactive. GSDRescue - who'd assured me that should I adopt Wooki they had friends who could kennel him should I ever need it - when I asked for help GSDR sent me a one line response "Sorry can't help". Disgraceful.
Wooki is a very confident dog but is terrified of storms. Concerned that he might jump the fence and come looking for me, I felt that I had little choice but to keep him locked in our home and escape hospital once a day to let him out and feed him.
Of course he was over the moon the first time that I came home and it taught him that although I was gone a long time, I would return eventually. I know this by the way he greeted me each day following.
A few weeks later I needed an operation. No kennel would accommodate him 😡
So a friend helped me to build a 7' fence around the back door so Wooki had free access to outside.
That friend fed him every evening. I was not well enough to visit him until the fourth day and came home on the 9th.
Wooki handled my absence really well. There were a few signs in the following weeks where he would lay at the front door whenever I prepared to leave and he'd refuse to move.
After a couple of weeks though he settled back into our normal routine.
That was the best possible outcome considering the circumstances. However it was a choice of last resort.
The risk of Wooki developing separation anxiety was high.
Thank you Archangel Ariel for watching over my boy during my absence.
I can't believe that response you got! I'm glad everything worked out ok for you and wooki!
Thank for your sharing ❤
you are such an amazing dog owner going through all this for your fur baby i hope your doing well
Archangel Ariel?
I am currently fostering a GSD whose owner died. I work at a boarding kennel, and a family member parked her there and said ‘find her a home’. We ALL tried GSD Rescue in 5 states. We got ZERO response. I have worked with a lot of rescues throughout my life - worst ever. She stopped eating (never really started actually) and was wasting away, so I brought her home to hopefully get her to eat again. She has lots of allergies but they are manageable but it is keeping potential adopters away 😢. I don’t have a lifestyle or property for her (she loves playing especially in the large yards and training building at the kennel). I hate having to bring her to kennel while I work, spending 8 or more hours in a cage even though I do try to get her out for a walk or playtime. I have finally gotten her to use peepads at home if needed, so some days I leave her home (also in case an adopter has to leave her home alone at any time). Neither situation is ideal for a breed that needs more mental and physical stimulation than I can give her. But before I worked at the kennel, I never boarded my dogs ever. Neighbors were paid for daycare/overnight sleepovers, whatever, and always left tv on.
I have had self feed containers for three generations of pets. They are never overweight, no food anxiety, andI don’t have to worry. My current labs will wait to eat breakfast for me to sit by them and drink my coffee. Almost 70 yr. Old. Never had to put my pets on a diet with the self feed.
Absolutely a good idea for many dogs. When we had several big dogs we used gravity flow hog feeders. At first they ate a little extra but they regulated themselves & were never overweight. We worked long hours some days & it was a relief to know our dogs were fed.
When you leave, Don't *'Over Reassure'* your dog in an excessively passive way, that _'"Everything is going to be ok..." ... "I won't be long"..._ et cetera... If you sound anxious or worried they'll pick up on it and you'll probably project your concerns on to your Dog. There's a good chance they'll think you're saying 'Good bye'... The Calmer you are the better it will be for your Dog.
I always sing-song, "I'll be back soon!" when I close the front door.
I’m blessed I work 3 nights 12 hours a week night shift at hospital my son is usually out during day home at night so my dog barely ever stays home
Alone
I leave the radio on and open the blinds, my dog loves to lay down and look out the window, like a cat. I got lucky and she doesn't have separation anxiety. I think the most I've left her alone was five hours. I usually take her with me everywhere I go but now that it's getting hotter can't keep her in a hot car when I run into the store. But you should see her when I leave her in the car(in cooler weather). She doesn't make a peep, just sits there quietly. She doesn't even get hyper when I come back. She is a good dog that way
Wow she is a good dog ❤
That can be dangerous left in the car.
We had to leave our German Shepherd alone inside the house one day. When we got back we found he had broken the window, the screen in the window. and he was sitting on the front steps waiting for us to return.
Haha 😄 ❤
Omg
@@DoggyQuarters - It was shocking. He was a big and strong dog, we underestimated him!
Aww ❤
He probably had to go potty, and didn't want to go in the house! One of ours figured out how to open the front door while we were at work one day, and our surveillance cams showed that he bolted straight to the veggie garden for a pee... next day, I got a visit from the spca: someone had reported that we locked our dogs outside midwinter, and the breed we have is bred to withstand -40 and lower out in the field, without shelter!
We started engaging the deadbolt, but this clever, 100# 5-mo puppy figured that out, also - after he tried eating through the wall! He then figured out how to operate the crank-open windows, which he had only seen me operate maybe twice, since we only installed it in the fall...got home one day, lock lever was in the unlocked position, and the crank handle was on the floor! Listen, when a pup's gotta pee, he's gotta pee!
My dog was so lucky to have a back yard backing onto a park. She got many pats from school kids and people walking their dogs. Out the front yard she had the morning walkers giving her attention. No wonder she was so tired at night.
My dog stopped eating when I went back to work! She survived cancer and was 14 yrs old. I took the night shift after I ran her around all day!
We have our wonderful St Bernard's, can't imagine life without them. I'm disabled and praise God am able to stay at home with them. They get sad when my husband leaves for work, but are so excited when he returns, their also very excited when I get home from an errand. Their never alone more than a couple of hours. We've been so blessed
Dogs are such beautiful animals. Kind and very loyal. I,ve loved them all my life
I
My grandparents had a long haired St. Bernard that we took care of when they went to Florida for the winter months. I was only a toddler. I thought he was MY dog! He was so wonderful, protective, and gentle to us little kids. I have never been afraid of dogs! I've been a dog walker/boarder/and dog foster for 10 years now. I can thank Pal for his influence on my life and my sweet dog Russell.
Dogs are my favorite people.
Honestly COVID was the best thing that happened to me & my dogs, it forced me to work for myself & be home w them way more than I used to be.
I love when my brother goes away and I get to watch my doggo nephew and doggie niece. Love them!
We have had MANY dogs over the years, including 10 Danes and 5 Goldens. Most were when we lived on the farm, and none have had anxiety issues. My current Dane is now 7, and handles my erratic schedule and sometimes long days away from him just fine, even to 12 hours. He checks out my clothes as I am getting dressed in the morning, and knows if he will be alone or not. If I will be leaving, he goes to the living room and lays down. If I put on yard work clothes, he gets bouncy. If I start packing, he knows he gets to go in the camper, and becomes a velcro dog. I recently adopted a rescue cat, which he appreciated. He is happier now.
My dog enjoys emptying her toy basket as she decides which one she wants. If they are scattered all over, like you suggest, she tends to ignore them.
@cherylimeson3006 Please be careful with the toys you leave out. Most of them say not to let your dog chew on them without you watching them. I have heard of dogs choking on chewed off parts of toys, especially the "noise maker" squeaky type toys. They get that piece out of the toy and it can block their airway. That would be a horrible thing to come home to. 😢
Dogs will sleep when left alone with a companion dog. Never have just one dog. All creatures love companionship.
Some dogs are better off being an only dog.
My doggo is fine for hours, early crate training helped, having their own blankies, toys or space on couch, bed or floor is important. Just love them lots, eh?❤️🇨🇦🦆
I got a 2-3 year old English pointer from a rescue shelter 6 months ago, with horrible separation anxiety. I'm not sure what the previous owners did to her, but she clearly has some problems because of it, which we're slowly working through. She abhors kennels and hates whenever I leave the house. I've slowly realized she can be left out of the kennel just fine, and that kneeling down to her level, talking to her, explaining where I'm going, and telling her I'll be back, has helped her quite a lot. I can attest that she loves to look out of windows, and that teaching her the stay command has helped a lot whenever I leave the house.
My German Shepherd is another rescue with a horrible history of abuse.
I had no choice but to leave him at home when I spent over a week in hospital.
I'd built a secure fence around the back door so he had access to outside to go toilet.
A mate fed him every evening.
The thing I realised is that our home is one of the two constants in Wooki's life.
Home is familiar. So although I wasn't there, he handled my absence because he was home.
Kennels kinda need to be trained from puppy, for a while. maybe they didn’t crate train her at all. I never did with my dogs at all. I never even had a crate until the 2000’s., and only because she was already trained, (unwanted adoption, but I always do my best) and I was in a small place. So I put her in there when company came over. I’ve had dogs since the 70’s, when I was a teen. Lots of them. Nobody had crates. But I will say, I tell my rescue buddy, I’ll be back! And I do leave the tv on. He seems to know. And he has a crate, it came with him, but the door is open🤷♀️ it’s a den, not a prison. I would never crate my dog all day or night. Just when the grandkids are eating lol because hes such a grunge. He doesn’t grab, but omg he’s such a pest
I live in apt complex and work part time. I'm never gone more than 5 hours. We take long walks daily. She has a window she looks out with an ottoman to lay on. It breaks my heart when I hear dogs barking left in the dark behind closed blinds. They want to see outside!
Even better your dog can get inside and outside 24/7 like mine does even when sleeping at night or when iam away literally always
God I love dogs!👍🥰🙏😘🐕🦮
My dog had separation anxiety. I broke her of it by going out to the mailbox, locking the front door then coming back ina few minutes later. I did the same with going into my garage. I'd come back I to the house a few minutes later. I then bought Kong balls and loaded them with treats to keep her occupied if I had to go out for longer errands. I also hid treats around the house. She began to relate treats to me going out. I took a few months to break the anxiety but it worked. I can be gone all day with no issues now.
I just got a rescue 2 weeks ago and nothing is helping with her anxiety. I will try doing this. She does not touch a treat I leave out and barks, howls and paces the entire time I’m out of the house or go to another room in the house. It hasn’t been a good experience to say the least.
I have a rescue cocker who if left on his own is a howler, but as I have another dog he feels he has company and is truly well behaved.
When I adopted, and brought home my Siberian Husky girl at 1.5 yrs old... the first time I left for a work appt, the next day, and was gone for only 2 hours, I came back and found pee everywhere, an incredibly freaked out, anxious and scared dog, a hole in the hardwood floors that she had scratched near the door, and the door frame itself, almost chewed off completely! :O (It was a shock- the prior owner had mentioned nothing about her Separation anxiety.. ha..) Since I don't believe in putting dogs in locked crates (unless for a medical appt, or something very short term), whenever I went to a work for a few hours/day, I brought her to a local doggy day care place, where the dogs got to run around and play with each other freely. I did this for a few wks, and then found the amazing book by Dr. Patricia McConnell, " I'll Be Home Soon: How to treat and prevent Separation Anxiety". Dr. McConnell is a PhD/Animal Behavioralist, and Positive/Humane trainer and author. This is just a small book, but packed with info. Taking things VERY slowly... leaving the house for 1 minute, and coming back. If OK with this, then leaving for 2 minutes and coming back. etc, etc.. If there is a time period where my dog started getting anxious, I would drop it down back to a slightly shorter time until there was no stress again. Then build up slowly again. Dr. McConnell claimed that if your dog can handle an hour alone with no stress, than you're in the clear, and they've learned to trust that you'll always come back. they have beaten their SA, and they can stay home for a normal amount of time by themselves. :) And- it absolutely worked! Only took us about 2 wks, and I had her for the rest of her life, and she never experienced that again. :) (And, NO CRATES, ever!) Best of luck, everyone!
@@cindysharp4466 Hey there- yes, been there; done that. Its not fun, for sure.. :/ Feel free to read my other post, with the booklet reference; the techniques described in there ABSOLUTELY got rid of the same problem that I had with my Husky when I first adopted her. (Or, you can go to the author's website, and I believe that you can find the technique on there somewhere, as well..) Best of luck, and ...keep the faith! :)
Going to try this with my dogs, bc every time I get my purse/keys or my husband gets his backpack to leave for work they go berserk… we’ve tried every trick we know. This might work since they are both very food motivated 😁
I leave the tv on for my dog and I leave a chew bone with a treat inside of it so he has an activity to do while I’m gone. I explain where I’m going and reassure him I’ll be back. He does whine for a bit, but usually calms down after a while. He’s usually sitting on the soda waiting for me when I return.
Good dog 🥰
My current breed of doggo is the opposite of velcro pups. They enjoy companionship but can easily handle a 12 hour shift and greet me on the return. My favorite feature is knowing uninvited guests will get a very unfriendly welcome if they ignore the warnings
My chihuahua sleeps all the time anyway. My little hound dog doesn't sleep as much but I don't leave them for more than a few hours. However, if I had to go somewhere and spend overnight in a motel they'd prolly think I had abandoned them. So I don't go anywhere far away like I'd like to. And I wouldn't take them in the car cause it's too hot.
My boy Baldurdash, I say, "Hey, I gotta go to work. See ya in a while. You're a good boy."
He seems pretty cool when I get home but sometimes he's ready to charge out the front door to the fenced front lawn. He has the run of the house, HVAC on to tolerable temps, and the TV on.
He usually sleeps by my bed or in my bedroom doorway, and he comes with me on most errands except when I would have to leave him in the car.
While I was working I had cats. It was only when I retired that I got a dog. It took a long time for him to understand that I had to go shopping etc without him and I know he was distressed at the beginning. While I am out I know he does nothing but wait by the door till I return no matter how many toys I leave. If I need to go away for a weekend I am blessed with a neighbour who works from home and he lives there till I return.
Sometimes we wonder why we bring this burden home...lol....but we also love them 😆
I have 5 dogs so they are never "alone" but when I do I always put on Jazz music from you tube for them to listen to while I'm gone, never more than 4 hours ever. I have neighbors with a key to my house so that if something were to happen such as a car accident or if for some reason I'd end up in the hospital they can come in and take care of my dogs. They get fed twice a day we have a routine not exactly the same hour as since I'm retired I sometimes sleep in but I do keep it at pretty regular. They have their own couch which sits in front of a big bay window and the curtains are never closed so they have a window to the world 24 hours a day. Anna In Ohio
I put on thrash metal
Your family really happy 😍
I didn't know a lot of this, especially don't close the curtains, well in my case the blinds. But I sometimes do turn the television on when I have to leave my dog alone.
Thank you for watching ❤
My dogs have become so attached sonce covid. I now cant leave home for very long. I do leave windows open and turn on TV. It has helped keep them happier while i am gone.
I can't leave my Beagle alone at home when I go to the store.
The 10 or 20 minutes, I may be gone may as well be, 10 or 20 years.
Same thing when I go to check my mail.
She has everything but the destructive behaviour.
She saves THAT, for my return.
Yes! Beagles are definitely revenge oriented. I am on my fourth Beagle, and this one still has to be put in a crate when I leave. My other 3 were fine as long as I didn’t leave a trash can on their level…..
We always had 3 dogs at a time. Our last of two passed away last year, leaving one dog, a shepherd. He was doing well, as he was an only dog when the rescue got him and since we are retired and he’s 8 he hung around with us oldies. I walked him in the pasture 2 x a day and let him search for critters.
When our kids visited with their large 2 dogs Logan played with them a lot. I checked into doggie day care in our area and now take him 2x a week to play with others. We can watch him play online and he has a great time. So glad I found them. This also is someplace to take him when I have to take hubby to medical appointments.
Thank you for validating everything I do for my 3 furbabies...
My dog not bothered anymore she looks forward to it I fill up her Kong put some smooth radio on put camera on to check on her then I get a lovely welcome we’re she brings her favorite toy, I’m sure she thinks thankyou for giving me a break .as I’m home a lot she has about 30 friends she plays with in park they all run as a pack and weekends providing I’m well enough we go to new places she really is the best and so funny very cheeky and puts up with me
My dog always has the other family members around her. She knows that I go out at ten everyday and come back at five in the evening everyday. She has come to know that this happens everyday. Therefore she remains happy always surrounded by the other family members ... ❤🎉😊
The stay exercise is a terrific tip, thank you. I never realized it translates to me coming back. I train working sheep dogs and train the stay on sheep. But now I will add it to how you train it.
I am blessed to be able to work from home (where Hershey, a seven year old mini schnauzer, keeps us both company). But as my spouse's caregiver, we have frequent doctor visits. We have a sliding glass door and leave the blinds open for our furry child and the TV on with an animal planet program on; the glass opens to a nice area full of birds, squirrels (that we feed) and people coming & going. She's good about our leaving, but goes nuts when we return. (She knows the sound of our car and doors.) I usually give her a treat for her "good stay" behavior. The three of us make a great pack!
Hershy also goes nuts when she realizes we are going on a family trip ("Adventure") and can't wait to hop into the car with us. " 🎵🎶 We're going on an Adventure to see who we can _smell!!_ 🎶🎵 🐕🦺 "
I know you really love her so much. She is really happy with your family 💗

Yep i leave my radio on when im out always shes used to my music 🎶 and just the radio station persons talking
As a pup, I had mine in the crate for a few hours in the morning until I checked her at lunch……until…..she learned to disassemble the crate. After that, we left her in the living room with the TV on and she did great!
This is our fawn Doberman in my profile pic. He is the velcro dog king but he also is loyal when we are away and loves to work. Before heading to my work, I place blankets on the couch that smell like me, a few clothes I wore recently that smell like me, open the curtains, turn on the fan, put out toys. Here is the most important part for him as a working dog: He understands the commands "Wait" and "Look". Wait tells him I may be awhile, our version of stay. "Look" is the command he learned almost instinctively as one of the most brilliant breeds in the world to "be alert". He immediately runs to the couch, climbs up with his paws on the back of it and starts watching the street through the window with that Doberman guard stare. My profile pic here is an example of him doing this. I praise him up and down, let him know he is an essential part of our family and to Look and watch the house while I am gone. I then quietly leave and wave at him driving away as he sits in the window doing his job while I go to mine. I am not sure how long he does it. I have returned 2 or 3 hours later to find him still in his watch dog position. He does sleep sometimes, suck on his blanket, but he always has his eyes and ears open. He doesn't like me to leave, is happy when I return but by putting him to work I can see in his eyes it gives him purpose and makes the separation bearable. Louie is affectionate to everyone. He will warn though if it is people I do not acknowledge or walking in front of the house. Too much barking, he will be commanded to be quiet but not before I acknowledge or thank him for his work. He gets lots of walking and running time too when I get home. He is a giant baby at 115 to 120 lbs.
Awe, I love your comment! You truly know that dogs need satisfaction in doing the job they were meant to do. You both are very lucky to have each other! 😊 My cousin had a fawn doberman and she was the sweetest dog you'd never want to mess with, lol!
Very handsome boy.
I adopted a 2 year old Dobie/Husky mix last year. Luckily, I work from home, but she doesnt mind when I'm running errands for a few hours on weekends.
Her only flaw is her ability to slip out the door. She basically has no recall (I blame her Husky half), and just wants to have a good gallop. But I can get her to wait by my car door if I beep my car alarm.
Still, to break her of the habit, I gave her a "job." Whenever I come home, I will set down my purse or package and tell her to check it out to make sure its safe (she's very scent motivated) and that distracts her while I close the door. She's very conscientious and will now alert me when the mail or a package has been delivered, ready to do her job. 😊
Good To know To leave tv on when i need To do important errands other thén that my doggie and i are so close. I love my boy. Great vidéo.😇🐕🐾🐾❤🌞🕊
Always get a second dog so they can keep each other company.
One of each sex so that they won’t fight (hopefully)!
I don’t think it’s your place to tell somebody what they should “always”do. I would say always avoid using the word always but then I would be guilty of what you did that made me cringe.
Shit, many people cannot raise one decent dog what makes you think another will help? Twice the food, twice the vet bills, this is not good advice theres way too many lazy dog owners out there.
I have three and it worked out great.
Or so your two dogs can tear your house apart!! Plu-eeze!!!
I have two dogs one I’ve had almost 4 years and one I’ve had just a little over a year every single time I leave I tell them both iWILL be back! Mommy will always come back I promise! And they always understand that I will. I tell them stay and wait I will be back.
Exactly what I say to my dog 🐕 😂 awwww
Thank you for this great video
Thank you for watching 💕
We have a couple who were bred for thousands of years to live outdoors with no shelter, but the ladies are absolute PRISSES!!! If there is even a HINT of rain, they refuse to go out! They've held their bladders for 24 hours and even more, except when I clip on a leash and literally haul them out for potty! Had to boot one out tonight who was refusing due to the rain (they're farm dogs and take shifts, and this one had to go on night duty with her male - not a priss - partner, and it's not like they don't have various shelters to cozy up in, either! )
A helper when it comes to separation anxiety: no dog alone! Speaking from experience, you MUST have a buddy - not just toys or open curtains - if you plan to leave a puppy for extended periods! Learned the hard way with my first dog, a kuvasz. All puppies after her were fine, because they had her when I wasn't home! Newest puppy (decker terrier) had a bottle piglet grow up with her, as well as having the monstrous brutes who not only cared for, but trained her - she, despite her tiny size, is the most confident and self-assured dog I've ever known 😊
I've seen many videos of dogs and cats that have learnt to use the toilet. I wonder how difficult it is to train them to do that. That would solve many problems apart from being hilarious!
If you have to go to work, choose a dog and the breeds that are more independent. Encourage the pup to play with toys and not with you. Crate training and restraint from carry the pup around. I have a mini schnauzer and she is doing great which is a bit of a relief. I heard chowchow is good with being home alone too
My dog is over 15.Been going to work since he was 13 weeks old. He's fine, well adjusted. It's all about routine. I used to leave the radio on, but he's deaf now. He has his timed pop up bowls. I do adjust the heating and fans. He has the same treat when I go out. I taught him if needs a wee to go in a litre tub in the bathroom so he doesn't hold it too long. He's been so adaptable I couldn't have asked for more.
My dog solves those toys before I am out the door like she thinks she gets to come too now.
Consider a dog door with fenced in yard....but always be aware if petnapping or digging under fence. Every area is different as every dog is different
Thanks for sharing!👍🙏
I pray to God to give you a lot of beautiful days and you know God loves us so much,So where are you originally from? I am David originally from Spain but currently living in Texas now.
Thanks for this excellent video. I have had many dogs in my lifetime & this is an excellent tutorial reminder of a great way to take care of your dog.
Glad it was helpful ❤
I don't understand why you should leave toys laying around. We keep our dog's toys in a basket. My 2yr old dog always pulls out what he wants. Sometimes he wants to tug o war and sometimes he wants some chew time. He always has access to his basket.
Yes, we do the same. Our Goldie knows his toys are in a basket, whenever he wants a toy, he goes there to pick one up. Sometimes the area around the basket is littered with his stuff but somehow, they are all in that one area of the house. When he's done playing with the toy in another part of the house, or if I take his toy into my room so he can play there, after he's done, he takes the toy and puts it back in the basket. Time again I've caught him staring at the basket like he's counting his toys and making sure they're all there. LOL.
I’ve had dogs of my own for almost 60 yrs…in the last 20 I’ve been dogsitting in my home. Covid brought a whole new group of dog owners I call “covid dogs”…owners who have never had a pup, got one during covid, loved, then went back to work. Came home and found their couch eaten. Owners scrambling to have their dog looked after.
Crate train. It’s a must.
No other reason or excuse. Their crate becomes their safe place.
“covid dogs” as I call them are the ones the owners haven’t trained properly…and no offence I hope. You just didn’t know. Read, research, and figure out what to do now your poor pup is alone. Crate training! If they sleep for 8 hrs when you do? They can sleep 8 hrs during the day. And they do.
My brother makes me leave my little dog at his house while I'm working. He has her very spoiled.
Great videos and so many good advice. Dogs do suffer when they are alone they even suffer more when there is only one. I only realized that when i saw the eyes of my female dog so sad as i was leaving i realized she was suffering. so i rescued a little one who was roaming the estreet all alone and i was told she was straight. When my female dog saw her she was so please and she began teaching her what to do and how to do things because she was a belgian shepherd who are so motherly. As i am a pensionar now i hear my next door dog crying when she is working so i talk to the dog gently and he does calm down.
❤❤❤
A couple times when I was in a rush I left my Yorkipoo at my sister’s house and friend’s home without saying “I’ll be back” before I left. Btw, these are her two favorite places in the world to visit, both for the humans and their dogs, her best friends. I was told she was very unsettled in my absence which was not the case other times when they “dog-sit” for her. Thinking about what they said I realized I didn’t say goodbye before leaving. Since then I make sure to give her a quick reassurance and that “I’ll be back”. No problems or separation anxiety since then as long as I do that. Dogs are so smart…I love them!
I give my dog one eight ounce sirloin steak for breakfast and 2 for supper. At night he has about three cups of kibble that he has at about two in the morning. He has a food schedule and if you mess with it he lets you know by pawing at the fridge
He eats very well!
Is it raw?
Too much meat !
I’m so happy I found this channel i subscribed and have a thumbs up I have a golden retriever he’s 9 years old now
Thank you for watching 💗
When I leave I make sure the living room has a light on and the TV stays on!!!! My GSD gets ideas when it's too quiet!!! He knows how to open the front door and will if there isn't a TV on!!!
My chihuahua shreds her puppy pad if I leave for an hour. I yelled at her the very first time it happened 🥺 and she cried. Real tears streaming down her snout. 😔 I didn't know that I was supposed to make my return nice for her until I started watching your videos.
So I do not yell anymore. I just give her love, talk nice, and pick up her mess. I'm going to try this "stay" and treat thing even if I just walk away to do some laundry or something 😊I think this will help a lot!
Thank you for your videos!!
Thank for your sharing 💜
Thanks!
Thank you for watching❤ I wish you good health and all the best for you❣
Please be careful in what toys you leave out for your dog when they're by themselves! Most of them say right on the tag not to do that. The squeaky ones are the worst because they can chew that "squeaker" out of them and choke on it.
if your dog trips when it hears "kong toy kong toy" like mine does, beware 6:30 lol
Always have more than one dog/ pet so that they can keep each other company. They are social creatures!
❤ before going out must explain your work to fury baby and if possible open the balcony door and must said bye 2 3 times before leaving after coming back try to give just something to eat he understands your out work
Sometimes no other choice but to leave the dogs alone at home.
When I had only one dog (Chippy) before, when I got back home, I saw some blood on the door and wounds on the paws of my dog, maybe he was scratching the door hard and then I decided to get another one, then one day this one escaped and gave birth to 5 puppies after 2months. That was how I got 7 dogs.
Ah, the Dog Distribution System rewarded you!
Good going - you can't have enough dogs!
It's amazing ❤
I have a mini chiweenie and I know she's my registered service dog and I never leave her alone ever she goes to restaurants with me doctor's appointment she's been on planes with me even if I go to the end of the road to the gas station she goes with me I couldn't do that to her it would break her heart and it would break mine
You got it right dude have three! ❤there's 5 million available for adoption
- Dont leave windows or balcony doors open, too much for the dog to handle on its own.
- If you have a big home with many rooms, limit the area for the dog to keep track of by closing doors to unnecessary space not needed for the dogs comfort when alone.
- Make sure there's plenty of water, if anything delays you coming back home, water supply is a must for your dogs sense of security (and hydration).
- If you can turn off interphone systems and doorbells, this is a good thing to avoid unnecessary anxiety for the dog if anyone should ring on them.
I'm going to be gone a few weeks for surgery and rehab. My dog will be alone during this time for the first time. She will be outside during this time. The back yard is over half an acre for her to run around in. I have someone coming to feed and water her every day, but what else can I do for her during my absence? She's a rescue dog, part black lab and part ? and has some insecurity issues.
Maybe have a close friend or family member stay with your dog at your house while you are gone? Good luck with your surgery, your dog can’t wait for you to be back, healthy and take her for a walk.
I do not think being outside is a good idea imo. Too many dangers, lightening storms, etc…maybe keeping her out only during the day.😊
Are you joking?? There a many ways to fuck up a dog's soul. Leaving her alone for A FEW WEEKS is the quickest one, though.
We are talking about one of the most social mammals in the world. They MUST NOT be alone for an extended amount of time. Book her in a boarding facility or with a private dog boarder. That shouldn't cost much more than 30 bucks a day, or at least that's what I charge over here in Portugal.
PLEASE find someone to spend at least overnights with him or her.
They don’t care about space. They are pack animals and NEED company.
Some kennels will give you a price break when you are in a situation. Please don’t leave your dog out for even three nights.
@5:35. THERE, Right there. You hear that ?
THE HIGHLIGHT OF THEIR DAY...... kibble..wow, thats hitting rock bottom. lol
The first dog is like, oh not, not this again, then the next dog sniffs it up like a vacuum cleaner.. down the hatch.. hope it wasn't one specific for dental health 😬
You better get that pet insurance.
Feed real fresh food, real nutrients = real family
As Nature Intended
Leave classic music playing on your radio. Give your dog a few tasty treats like Bil Jack biscuits. Leave a worn shirt or socks outside the door when you leave.
I am retired so at home most of the time (lovely) anyway went out this morning and my Cocker Spaniel who is well old enough to know better, totally wrecked my bedroom, and I mean wrecked.... I was only gone for 20 mins 😮
I wouldn't leave ice cube treats to unsupervised dog.
I tell my dog the same thing
I purposely make sure my dog has views to the outside when I leave. I leave the door unlocked in case someone else has to let my dog out, in the event I have an unexpected delay.( no one is going to enter unless he knows them) Make sure water bowl is full. I put a dog movie on a few minutes before I leave, and the radio on for when the movie ends ( if I'm not back ) German Shepherd is always happy to see me return.
My 3 little dogs and two cats are ok when I go out for a few hours. I walk the dogs first for about 3 - 4 kms, turn soft music on and give them a dog bikkie when I head out. They are just waiting for me to get going.
My dog loves to watch Frasier while Im at work
What, you are going to leave your Dog alone for Weeks, Who is feeting Him and look after Him, you don't say ?"
I Can't believe it ?"
I left my dog alone in the house for 3 weeks with only a small cup of food and a half cup of water.
It was actually 15 minutes, but in dog years it was probably like 3 weeks. 😆🤣😂
I screamed What after the first sentence and woke my dog up 😂😂😂 you're right 15mns is forever
Please please please dont leave your dog alone. You said she already has security issues. She doesnt want acres of land, she wants you and if not you then company and safety. Think of her as a 2 or 3yo child. (A dogs IQ has been said to be around that). She will panic, hurt herself, maybe escape and try to find you and god knows what could happen. Im in a similar situation in that I have a velcro dog, an illness that can recur and no-one to care for my baby. If I had to go into hospital again I would board her at the kennels, for her safety. She would still feel stressed but she'd be safe. PLEASE dont leave her alone.
Oh stop wimp
Calm down dear
We have to leave our dog alone because he gets travel sick in the car, fortunately he doesn't get separation anxiety
So, no job, no grocery shopping, no visiting my mom in the hospital? I don't think that works in the real world.
Unfortunately your high conditions of dog care would consign many more millions of dogs to death or abandonment on the streets in the US and this is one of the very best countries in the world to be a dog.
4 hours tops get a dog sitter while your at work or at least a trusted friend on different hours for at least a good walk an too look after your home while your away even for a short time even too make sure they haven’t tipped a water dish.friend are always part of there pack
Thanks for sharing!
I use the Dog TV on TH-cam.
Doggie doors, and diapers help too. My dog eats when I eat and he eats what I eat, meat. Kibble is candy for dogs and will shorten their life.
I'm newly divorced, moved to a different state. It's been more stressful for me to find some type of half-day companion for my Golden Retriever than the divorce was!! It's disheartening to interview kennel after kennel of deafening, constant, & aggressive barking from other dogs that appear really unhappy at their confinement. Any suggestions out there? My dog really misses her previous canine playmate.
Who turns off the heat in the winter and AC in the summer when they go out? heating or cooling the house afterwards will cost more.
I never leave my dog she is with me 24-7.. if my dog cant go i don’t go
That’s a no go for me. I can’t have a dog with me 24/7. Yikes!
That must be nice, but I have to work for a living. If I don’t work nether my dog or my other animals and I will have a place to live or any food to eat. I’m pretty sure my dogs, cat and chickens understand that. We all seem to be living a happy life.
I love My Friend Jessie our Shi-Tiz Dog Jackiemcadams 45 ❤❤❤❤ 3:41
Our Adeline has a hot water bottle.
My windows are too far up for my Chiyorkie to look out. What can I do
Hug your dog today! Do it right now!
We have kennel trained our doxies for the simple reason we don't want our front door destroyed.
Good video. But you should never leave a puppy alone
Not practical.
Yup you should
Heck if I left the curtains open they would never shut up. Radio on spray for calmness.
I have a 1 year old swiss shepherd cross who's never been alone a second in her life; she'll have to be alone from 2 pm to2 am while I'm at work; wish her luck you guys; I've no idea how she'll react😢
That’s a long time. I hope it works out!
My dogs push the curtains on the French doors aside to look. I won't leave curtains open for bad actors to potentially look in
20 minutes is too long home alone for my dog...
🤣🤣
If you don't leave your children alone. Then you should not leave your dog alone. So don't get one if you can't take care of it.
Well, I live alone and are very lonely , and would just adore a puppy! Unfortunately, I’m currently out of work, and are obviously looking for a job. Eventually ( hopefully ) I’ll get one. Probably be full time because I need the money. So, Regis is why I can’t have one! Be cruel for him, distressing for me! Just wouldn’t work! Mom and Dad have gone, hardly any family (who want to know me really ! Just bloody bugged! Just goes to show ya can’t have everything in life dunn it!
My cane corso 10weeks 10 hours alone 4 days a week still no problem at all she misses me last 2 hours it takes to long for her she starts boring more than that not happening
We are lucky, I'm a pensioner so we're together mostly. I had to leave today for 3 hours but I leave that dog music on for a couple of hours it seems to work ///////,,..
