In 2019 I had a full-time office job and zero gamedev experience. But I wanted to learn, so I got to work. Nine months later my first game, Mortal Glory, was finished and much to my surprise, it ended up selling over $128,000 within the first year. do we need to have a personal company to withdraw the money that we earn from game sales and what about taxes or can we just directly withdraw the money to our personal bank account ? thanks.
You don't need a company and can use a personal bank account if you'd like. You'll likely need to report the personal income yourself for taxation purposes (tax stuff will depend on your country though).

there is no next fest slot times, thats changed as far as I can gather. Took me 2 hours to find out.
@@asunder-cj4sr Yep! I think i also found out, rewatched the steam live stream. So basically made an event for my page that runs for the week and host the livestream/broadcast that way with a loopable mp4 from OBS

Hmm weird, the game does not know the LocalizationManager. It gives me the error: The type or namespace name 'LocalizationManager' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) - do I need to include a library for it? Or do I have to make a localization manager script myself? Should it come with the localization package? - Edit: nevermind, I think it is because I use another localization package, the one that nowadays comes with unity.
Ah yeah, the LocalizationManager is for I2 localization asset that I am using. Haven't tried the Unity one, but I'm sure it is great also.

Those are the files you get when you build a game in Unity. So you might need to find out how to build a game in whatever engine you are using.

They check the build once before you can release the game.

Hello! Great tutorial, but even after setting the build live on the default branch - I can't see it in my library. I am logged in to Steam using the Actual Authority account which owns the game, and the correct depot is listed in my Dev Comp package. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Edit: When browsing to the game in the store it recognizes me as 'the developer', but only lets me wishlist.
Can't think off the top of my head what could be the issue. I would first backtrack all the steps and make sure the build is on the right branch and that the launch options are correct. Although t I think the app should appear in your library even before uploading a build (not 100% sure on that though). If nothing else works, contacting Steam support should bring up a solution.

How do I update a game that's already been released? When I click "publish build", a red message appears: "Failed to send SMS". Steam used to let developers update their games, but now, in September 2024, something happened to them. How will developers fix bugs and add improvements now?
You can still push new builds the same way as before. But now you need to confirm with a code sent via SMS when you want to push the build to the main branch. Based on the error message I'd first check if you have a valid phone number set up for them to send the code to.
@@AuroDev And how can I update the game for users without changing the main branch? I will be very grateful to you if you tell me such a way. My phone is absolutely working, nothing happened to it, it perfectly receives any SMS, except for Steam. A month ago, Steam sent SMS normally, but now something happened.
@@antonkarapetianz5733 The only way to update the game for players without updating the main branch is to open a new branch and guide players to use that branch (non-default branches don't require the SMS). I would get in touch with Steam support though if the SMS authentication doesn't work for your account.

@@antonkarapetianz5733 They would need to manually select it in the game's settings. So you would need to instruct them somehow to do that. I would not recommend this method for anything other than testing purposes.

I've found it extremely difficult to find tutorials for setting up a steam page, and various how-to-do's for creating a demo, uploading a demo, publishing a game to steam, creating a store page, setting up achievements, the list goes on and on, and AuroDev just makes it simple, straight to the point, and concise. is there a way to upload a test build without publishing anything on our game page + give access to test build for specific mail adresses for them to download? (I saw your page has images etc. so i wanted to be sure without any details about the game is it possible)
I think it might be possible, but I'm not 100% sure. You could try uploading a build without publishing the store page and then generate "beta test" keys for the app and see if you can access the game with those keys.

when I have an "ahc.Trigger();" line, how do I tell it which specific achievement to unlock?
When you define "ach" variable on the line above ("new Steamworks.Data.Achievement(id))", you need to refer to the correct ID of your achievement. The trigger method then doesn't need any input anymore.

In all honesty, if it wasn't for people like you we'd all be pulling out our hair in frustration, so hats off to you. How to expose the game before completion? My game is not complete. And Steam says the game must be complete to be exposed. While I see thousands of games on Steam that are just clicked and not ready yet, but people can see them.؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟
You can make the Steam page public before uploading the game to Steam (I have a separate video about setting up the steam page).

Really like the game, have put 50 hours into it as it stands, would really appreciate the new DLC characters being available in Endless mode though.

@@AuroDev yeh, I loved playing with the ifrit but you can only take him to the 3rd boss and then it’s completed. Also rather than have the new cards available when you level up, you should have them all visible and you can spend the Gold you generate on a run to buy them, would help with making synergistic builds
