I recently thrifted this exact model and it's cabinet for $16, I'm super nervous about starting and had a difficult time understanding the booklet it came with, I can't tell you how relieved I was to find your tutorial series. I can finally start sewing for crafts and tailoring my own clothes, I really appreciate how thorough you are in your videos!

My nana had this one and she always used it, she died in 2020, we had it in our closet because none of us knew how to use it, and I’ve wanted to learn how to use it, i had no hope to see a video or even a manual to learn, thank u so much for making this videos 🤍

Thank you for the 5 part series. I was gifted this machine from my husband's parents with no manual. Something I'm noticing with all the videos out there on this model of machine is that some people are using metal bobbins while others are using plastic bobbins. Does anyone have any insight on the why of using plastic or metal?

Question maybe you could answer. Can I use a cone shaped spool with this machine? I’m looking for bonded nylon and I can’t find any on a spool in this shape. They’re all cone shaped. I’m new to all of this!

Thanks so much for this intro series for this Singer model! You helped me a lot - used to have a different machine and bobbin case so wasn't familiar with this horizontal one. Watching this helped me solve the slight mess I was creating on the backside of my project; the thread wasn't going through those little notches. Excellently clear and well videoed instructions!

I took a close look at my mother’s brother VX-808 sewing machine. The hand wheel has a screw in it. So it doesn’t loosen or tighten. I think you’re supposed to refill the bobbin manually by using the hand wheel to get the level up. Then you pull the thread out of the tension and do it manually.

Can you tell me more about the tension and the length dial. Specifically about the reverse. Is that for the stitch on the inside of the fabric? Like if you’re mending a hem. One side of the fabric is outside and the other side is inside. Is the reverse for the inside stitching?

Is the 6 or 9 facing you or the bobbin casing?

I think I got it wrong. I was doing it 6 or 9 facing me. I should have done it facing the casing.

Our brother VX-808 sewing machine doesn’t have the diagram sticker. My mother had it from the 80s so the diagram may have fallen off in that time. Is there a place where I can find that sticker?
