    the amount of DISRESPECT for legends in the nba is absolute bs. It has to stop. I'm a huge hockey fan and not once ever did I hear or say things like oh well Wayne Gretzky played against farmers and hippies. His Era was trash. Like f off guys. These guys built the pathway to what these players make and have. Have some respect for the past. Without them we have nothing and honestly the way each major sport has become they definitely had it harder and worked harder than players now. These leagues were vastly rougher and more fundamental

    You have to understand that bird and the Celtics really took advantage of the big three and their passing and movement was the pioneer of basketball back then. And the fact that Bird had to implement his 3 ball in his career and still was a great shooter, just goes to show you how great he was. Just imagine if he practiced his whole childhood with the 3 ball..?

    I'm a shooter. I averaged over 80% from 3 in semi-pro. 31 points in a quarter. 42 in a half twice. And, statistics don't make me one of the best. JJ has a small point, but Larry Bird was a BEAST. He is certainly top 3. No doubt. Bird would tell defenders his spot, then shoot it in their face. Heart, dog, killer instinct are not stats.

    Put Curry in Birds era and Bird in todays era. than tell me who would fair better Reddick is wrong. you can't compare eras, but you can compare the players by transposing them into each others era. back than the coaches didn't want players to shoot 3s so Curry would not have been shooting many 3s just like Bird. Tell me who you think would do better.

    shooting guard Reddicks lifetime career states: 12.8 pts 2.0 reb 2.0 assists doesn't look like he was very good at shooting or guarding. Reddick is not good enough to even appear in the same room as Cousy and Bird.

    Question: How many of these shooters from this current era do you think are actually telling the defense exactly what they are going to do, before the play starts, and still do it and score? Because we know for a fact that this was done constantly by Bird. And yes, he did it before out of bounds plays where he was going to shoot a 3 pointer too.

    You're saying Tatum and SGA aren't like Kobe or Iverson, but someone who witnessed Larry Bird's entire career would say the same thing about Bird as Mad Dog is saying. Larry Bird is the FIRST player to weaponize the 3-pointer. He's the FIRST player to do it. Bird was THE BEST 3-point shooter at the dawn of the 3-point era. Period. In his prime, he weaponized it in a way nobody else did. In his era, he led the league in 3-pointers taken and made several times.

  • @dwreed9100

    Larry was open because he never stopped moving and using screeens from the inside out. There are no screens or routes beginning in the paint because teams don't start in the paint and move out. Teams today simply start with the floor spread.

THAT MEANS he shot 40% from three for 4 years, btw overall pct. of 38 WAY BETTER than most of todays guys. im through watching you defend an idiot. dont for get to send him a birthday card, can tell you love him goodbye to your video at1:45

    That left hand bounce pass on the move to DJ at 16:08 was insane. In fact, this entire video cements the fact that Bird's entire career was one big highlight reel. As for his shooting, how much better would Bird have been had he not broken and permanently disfigured is finger on his shooting hand when he was in college? He has stated that he never had the same feel for the basketball. That's a scary thought. As for JJ, his biggest problem is going to be when he takes over as head coach for the Lakers, because we all know who the REAL head coach is going to be. LOL. Great reaction bro.

    Larry Was The FIRST To Ever Get 40/50/90 & More Then Once. Look Up How Many YEARS That It Took For Other's To Get Just 1. And You Saying Bird Would Be Wide Open, ha ha ha. Well If You Ever Watched His Games You'll Notice That He Used His BB-High-IQ To Out Wit Other's To Get Wide Open. Because If They Doubled Teamed Him He Would Pass To Other's To Score. Then He Would Let Them Think He Wasn't Going To Shoot A 3, Even When He Had 1 Or 2 Chasing Him. Then Bam He Would Out Wit & Hit A 3. I Really Hate When People Don't Know Good BB Playing At All. Your All Good Just With Everyone Hitting 3's And It's Easy Because No One Can Touch Anyone To Stop It. You Can Be Dumb As A Door Knob And Play Today Because NO ONE Has To Out Think Anyone Else. I was highlighting what JJ was saying and summarized his conversation with Maddog. I know Maddog agreed with JJ saying that Bird wasn't a volume 3-point shooter, lol. Regarding Bird being a Top 3 or Top 5 shooter, it really didn't matter to JJ because he wasn't to agree with Bird being that great of a shooter anyway 🤣

  • @soramirez5473
    @soramirez5473 วันที่ผ่านมา

    well only 3 ppl have shot 50/40/90 MULTIPLE times.. Nash, KD, and Bird. Nash did it 4 times.. KD did it twice and almost again. Bird did it twice and almost twice again.. Curry ALMOST did it twice, but currently stands at only once.. so OVERALL, I guess Steve Nash is the best OVERALL shooter in history.. Nash is also 11th in 3point % all time.

  • @soramirez5473
    @soramirez5473 วันที่ผ่านมา

    larry is not on either list. if ppl think he is a great 3 point shooter its cuz he did it when it COUNTED as opposed to spamming it all game.. the other spammers were not as effecient in the clutch time.. but as far as GENERATING 3 pointers, Bird should not even be on that list. he played 100% WITHIN THE FLOW of the game, he was NOT launching 3s. he was an ALL AROUND PLAYER.. NOT JUST a shooter.. tho he was a GREAT shooter. but he was great at almost all aspects of basketball. You can say he wasn the most high flying player.. but a bucket is a bucket.. you can say he was not a GREAT defender but he WAS a great TEAM defender and A GOOD man defender. Good Man defense, decent athlete (quick hands and reaction time tho) GREAT at EVERYTHING ELSE.

  • @soramirez5473

    Steph is number 12 all time in 3 point % Steph is 1st total 3s for a career... ACCUMULATED.. so steph LAUNCHES the most 3s in history. but DOESNT shoot them at the MOST ACCURATE clip.. Klay is number 20 on that % list.. Ray allen is number 46 on that % list..Ray Allen shot the 2nd most 3s ever.. Klay the 6th most ever. you can say they are the greatest VOLUME 3 point shooters but overall not the best. the BEST would be at the top of the %es as well, DESPITE volume.. I guess you can say they GENERATED 3s on their own more.. other HIGHER % but LESS used players probably were more catch and shoot..

    • @JayHemmsSports
      @JayHemmsSports 23 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Ray Allen are all sharpshooters, each shooting 40% or higher from the three-point range. Many, including myself, consider them the best three-point shooters because of their ability to create and make shots in various ways such as catch-and-shoot, off the dribble, and coming off screens. They also often take highly contested threes from deep range. Additionally, the volume of three-point shots they take needs to be taken into account. In their careers, Stephen Curry has a 43% three-point shooting percentage while attempting 9 threes per game, Klay Thompson has a 41% three-point shooting percentage while attempting 8 threes per game, and Ray Allen has a 40% three-point shooting percentage while attempting 6 threes per game. It seems that the players with higher three-point percentages tended to be more catch-and-shoot oriented, but they didn't attempt nearly as many threes as Steph, Klay, and Ray.

    13:00 - 13:56 In order to understand JJ's point, he mentions that Larry Bird is one of the greatest shooters of all time, but not one of the greatest 3-point shooters. I believe JJ meant that Bird isn't in the Top 3 or Top 5 3-point shooters, and I agree with that. Initially, I said Bird was a top 5 3-point shooter at some point, but later in the video, I corrected myself by saying that Bird is a Top 10 3-point shooter in NBA history, which seems more reasonable to me. Regardless, Larry Bird is undeniably a great shooter.

    2 things can be true at the same time: Barry deserves to be in the hall of fame (along with dozens of other hall of fame running backs), but he was also grossly overrated. 2 reasons 1: He was one dimensional. He didn't do very well between the guards, EVEN WITH an all Pro center (kevin glover), all-pro guard (hartings), and a 2x starting superbowl guard in mike compton. He did much better in space, but was such a liability between the guards, the Lions got smart in 97 and 98 and benched him for the "Jumbo" package of tommy vardell to do short-game work. Tommy would extend plays where barry would get stuffed, allowing barry to run for more yards. 2: He was a choker. Who has a negative yard game in a playoff game? He has a SINGLE touchdown in 6 playoff games. His own backups; Rivers, Vardell, Mason, all had a single playoff touchdown as well.

      I wouldn't say he was overrated or a choker. Barry Sanders had A LOT ON HIS PLATE! He was carrying a franchise, which is really tough to do, especially from the RB position. Larry Bird is the word, if you haven't seen that one. I've seen the music in it result in some, but not all, people having to mute portions of the audio. So maybe just have some royalty free music playing instead. It's just highlights so audio isn't really necessary.

    Wilt Chamberlain is the GOAT!!! Larry Bird is my #2. Wilt had two Weaknesses, Free Throw Shooting and being too nice. Bill Russell stated that Wilt was slow to anger and was so strong, that he was afraid to hurt other players. Wilt would change his shot, so he would not hurt a player. Bill stated that Wilt was going to dunk the ball, but a player had his arm in the way, Wilt laid the ball up, instead of dunking, as Wilt was afraid he would have broken the other players arm. Wilt was said to be the strongest player to ever play basketball. Wilt at his peak, could bench press 600 pounds. Johnny Kerr stated he had angered Wilt in a game and the next play, Wilt slammed dunked the ball so hard, the ball bounced off of Johnny’s foot and broke his toe. Gus Johnson was going to the hoop and Wilt blocked his shot so hard (hand on the ball), that Gus landed on the floor and dislocated his shoulder. The NBA changed 4 rules due to Wilt Chamberlain. #1 They widened the basketball lane. #2 They changed the offensive goaltending rule. #3 They made a rule about in-bound passes over the backboard/rim. #4 The free Throw Rule (Your feet can not go past the free throw line until the ball hits the rim). Prior to the change, while Wilt was in College, Wilt would take two steps and leap from the free throw line, dunking the ball, which was legal then. Chamberlain holds 72 NBA records, 68 by himself. Among his records are several that are considered unbreakable, such as averaging 22.9 rebounds for a career or 50.4 points per game in a season, scoring 100 points or 55 rebounds in a single game. During Chamberlain's time, defensive statistics like blocks and steals had not been recorded yet. According to Jack Ramsay, "Harvey [Pollack] said he used to tell one of his statisticians to keep track of Wilt's blocks in big games. ... One night, they got up to 25." (The first season blocked shots were officially recorded in the NBA was 1973/74, the season after Chamberlain retired as a player. The official NBA record of 17 blocks in a single game was set by Elmore Smith in 1973.) There is no doubt that if they kept records for blocked shots during Wilt’s time, he would be the Blocked Shot king. Some of Wilts records… NBA record - Most points per game in a season (50.4 in the 1961-62 season) NBA record - Most points in a season (4,029 in 1961-62) NBA record - Most points scored in a game (100 vs. the New York Knicks on March 2, 1962) NBA record - Most 50-point games in a season (45 in 1961-62) NBA record - Most 40-point games in a season (63 in 1961-62) NBA record - Most career regular-season 60-point games (32) NBA record - Most career regular-season 50-point games (118) NBA record - Most career regular-season 40-point games (271) NBA record - Career total rebounds (23,924) NBA record - Career rebounds per game (22.9) NBA record - Rebounds per game in a season (27.2) NBA record - Total Rebounds in a season (2,149 in 1960-1961) NBA record - Rebounds in a game (55, Philadelphia Warriors vs. Boston Celtics, November 24, 1960) NBA record - Most minutes played per game for a season (48.53 in 1961-62) (includes overtime games) Wilt had 26 records that are now broken, including... 2nd-highest career scoring average (30.07) - record held by Michael Jordan (30.1) In addition to his many statistical accomplishments, Chamberlain also had a successful career. He is a two-time NBA Champion (1967, 1972) and a six-time NBA Finalist (1964, 1967, 1969-70, 1972-73), was voted NBA MVP 4 times (1959-60, 1965-66, 1966-67, 1967-68) and NBA Finals MVP once (1972), was elected to 7 All-NBA First Teams (1960-62, 1964, 1966-68), 3 All-NBA Second Teams (1963, 1965, 1972) and also made two All-Defensive First Teams (1972, 1973). Along with Wes Unseld, he is one of two players to have won the Rookie of the Year and the MVP awards in the same year, but being the only one to add NBA All-Star Game MVP to this list.
