Dublin Dragons 4 hole
A four-threads-per-card version of the well-loved Dublin Dragons pattern. Original extant piece was done in brocade, so this is an adaptation of the original design using another period technique.
The patterns I create or find on Pinterest are pinned to my board here: www.pinterest.com/elewys/. I will also post it on my blog, which can be found at ladyelewys.carpevinumpdx.com/2023/10/06/dublin-dragons-4-hole/ and will be available after the video goes live.
In this video, I'm using 3-D printed cards that my husband made. They are 2 1/2" wide and about .7mm thick.
Schacht cards, which can be found at Yarn.com, thewoolery.com, Paradise Fibers or Schachtspindle.com. If you would like wooden cards, I have found some nice ones at www.etsy.com/shop/VytuVatu along with several other treasures for your weaving pleasures!

* How to use TDD: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmPy6... which will walk you through the many great features of this software.
Yarns:
* Jagger Spun wool/silk blend.
* Maysville Carpet Warp, which can be found at several different weaving supply places (I often use WEBS at www.yarn.com). It comes in more than 70 colors on an 800 yard spool for about $9, so it can be used in a number of projects and the price is very reasonable.
* Maurice Brassard 8/2 cotton, which I purchased at woolery.com. It comes in 81 different colors and is really lovely to work with.
* 20/2 or 60/2 silk from Eowyn de Weaver. Each cone is $30 and comes in 18 different colors. There are also small 100 yard spools that run $5 each and comes in more than 2 dozen colors. New web site! www.eowyndewever.com
* Pearl cotton, size 8 or size 10 (or even 12, if you love to work with fine stuff), which can be found is most craft stores in a bunch of colors.
Sewing:
* I use 100% linen from fabric-Store.com in the IL019 weight for my tunics. The quality of their linen is very good, their prices are very reasonable and shipping is fast! Use "ILOVELINEN" in the discount code for an additional 7% off!
Cards:
* 2 1/2" wide (63 mm) made on a 3D printer, a pattern designed by my husband. Free downloadable patterns of other tablets are available on Thingiverse (this one is not my pattern--we are still working the kinks out of the design but these cards are Oseberg reproductions: www.thingiverse.com/thing:1806753, though I find that they are a bit thicker than I prefer.) Also, 1 mm thick cards can be found at www.thingiverse.com/thing:673389, or thing:4043270.
* 3 1/4" cards from Schacht Spindle Company, which run $8 for 25 cards. I love these because they are colored on the edges and they are thin but very durable. Similar cards are made by Lacis but without the colored edges.

How to weave a gorgeous tablet weaving pattern from 500 BC Austria. Several pieces of tablet weaving were found in a salt mine in Austria and have been recreated by expert tablet weavers. I will show you how easy it is to re-create this pattern. If you want to use swivels to accommodate the twist, cards numbered 7, 8, 10 and 11 need the swivels (and border cards). I have a question, the number of cards/tablets do they have to be a uneven number or is it no matter if the pattern is even? I'm a total beginner again, meaning when I was a smal school child I made a belt in lessons. Now I would like to pick this lovely craft up again hence the dumb question. Newest project has 6 cards . Any way thank you so much for the very well presented tuition.💐😍 Best regards Jessica

I love the method of putting loops into the weaving at the end, and then pulling through the yarn to anchor the end of the braid, to stop it unravelling. My dilemma is how to prevent the starting end unravelling. I’m wondering if this method would work for the other end too, with loops placed into the weaving at the start of the braid in the same way. The yarn could be pulled through either after a few inches have been worked, or once the braid is finished, and before it’s removed from the loom, whilst it’s still under tension. Has anyone tried this?

Did any of the Native American tribes use tablet weaving for their textiles? Some of the detail work they did indicates that tablets would make their job much easier, but I've only seen them finger weaving or using rudimentary heddle+shuttle work. I'm preparing to weave a tumpline and would appreciate any advice on the authenticity of the use of tablets for the task.

Hello wise one! I have a question! I have a long band that i want to shorten and make into a keychain loop. I have clasps for the ends, so I need the end of the band to not have any fraying. If I sew the ends of the bands and then just cut it, will that be strong enough? Usually I use your method #4 from this video to make my chokers to size and then cut right after the end and use glue, and it seems to hold up alright. But I've never cut a long band! I would be so grateful for your advice!
