How to Warp an Inkle Loom

- A quick 5 minute video on warping an inkle loom. I have three different looms and I show how each one can be threaded to maximize the yardage on each loom.

Yarns:
* Maysville Carpet Warp, which can be found at several different weaving supply places (I often use WEBS at www.yarn.com). It comes in more than 70 colors on an 800 yard spool for about $9, so it can be used in a number of projects and the price is very reasonable.
* Maurice Brassard 8/2 cotton, which I purchased at woolery.com/maurice-brassard-.... It comes in 81 different colors and is really lovely to work with.
* 20/2 or 60/2 silk from Eowyn de Weaver has recently moved her store from Etsy. Each cone is $30 and comes in 18 different colors. There are also small 100 yard spools that run $5 each and comes in more than 2 dozen colors. New web site! www.eowyndewever.com
* Pearl cotton, size 8 or size 10 (or even 12, if you love to work with fine stuff), which can be found is most craft stores in a bunch of colors.
Sewing:
* I use 100% linen from Linen-Store.com in the IL019 weight for my tunics. The quality of their linen is very good, their prices are very reasonable and shipping is fast! Use "ILOVELINEN" in the discount code for an additional 7% off!
Cards:
* 2 1/2" wide (63 mm) made on a 3D printer, a pattern designed by my husband. Free downloadable patterns of other tablets are available on Thingiverse (this one is not my pattern--we are still working the kinks out of the design but these cards are Oseberg reproductions: www.thingiverse.com/thing:180...)
* 3 1/4" cards from Schacht Spindle Company, which run $8 for 25 cards. I love these because they are colored on the edges and they are thin but very durable. Similar cards are made by Lacis but without the colored edges.

My husband has just made me an Inkle Loom - now I need to learn how to do tablet weaving...

This video comes at the perfect time! My mom just borrowed my Ashford inkle loom to do her very first try at tablet weaving. She's going to do the leaves and vines pattern that you did a while back. Thank you for so much great knowledge!
I'm so glad you're taking the break you need. I did want you to know your videos are such a fantastic resource!! I'm warping my inkle loom, not to weave on, but to create a 'middle panel' warp for my floor loom. I'm doing a test weave on my LeClerc Colonial of a scarf with a tablet weave panel in the centre. Not much in the way of TH-cam help out there for tablet weaving on a floor loom, but I'm giving it a go! Thank you for giving me ideas on how to warp my inkle for this project! I look forward to more videos when you return!

Oh! so that's how it works.
I always had the problem, that the thread slipped from the bars, especially with wider bands and / or when I moved the band. rubber bands were the solution

Thanks for the video! Its really helpful to see the different looms being warped. I just acquired a new one from a seller on Etsy. Oh I have a question for you, when using swivel's do you tie them on once you have woven a bit or in the beginning? I am trying to figure out when is the best time to tie them on before weaving or after.
If you know you will need them, it would be easiest to tie them as you warp. I've done it after and it is much more difficult after you've woven a bit.

I would use paper tape on rhe bevel to eat up the yarn eating space, without affecting the usage of the peg.
My mom had a loom. It was simpler than this. I thought she called it an "Inca" loom. Like the tribe. I guess I was confused. 😂
I thought the same when I first came across this channel and binged the content; I heard "Inca loom" and "Inca weaving" 😂
