If you notice, chapel seemed to shoot wolfwood against his will, as you could notice him sweating and his arm shakily moving. I theorize that Legato was the one that made chapel shoot wolfwood, so without interference, wolfwood sparing him would’ve turned out fine.

I always remember being woken up as a kid by "Feel the powerrrrr" my brother would turn the little tv on in our room to watch this before school lol

Some artifacts can be overpower, just like those he shows here, for they greatlt boost Elemental Power, which, in a way, essentially boosts your summon power as well. A fine example is that if you have 200 EP, your summon attack power is basically doubled, which is simply devastating, even against Dullahan. A 200 EP stat also doubles support spells, such as Aura and Wish, which makes them even more useful (Aura heals up to 400 HP and Wish heals up to a whopping 800 HP). Normal stats are important, but so do Elemental Stats, for they also have got a role to play, both offensively and defensively.

In hindsight, Wolfwood's death really was on Vash's hands. Had Vash not preached his impossible-to-live-up-to spiel about "never killing no matter what", the guy would have lived! For the century+ Vash was alive, Knives was right... He really didn't seem to learn anything at all. You k*ll the bad (the spiders) to let the good (the butterflies) live. Obviously, life is more complicated than that - But we k*ll so that our loved ones can live. It's easy to not-k*ll when you're a god compared to humankind, but we don't live for centuries like plants, and we can't dodge bullets at point-blank. We HAVE to DRAW and SHOOT.

This scene is a masterpiece. The sad soft music, Nicolas who light his light cigarette. Nicolas who try as hard as he can to hold on to life. The shot on the cross who present his own holy trinity, the two best friend and the love of his life. He don't ask for forgiveness but the light of the sun symbolise the fact that he is forgiven. One of the most beautiful death scene ever.

I just love this duality in Trigun. Wolfwood's philosophy of killing threat to save innocent was forced to Vash by Legato, while Stampede's philosophy of not killing anyone and saving each life was Nicholas free choice. Vash was forced and survived. Wolfwood made his own choice and died. Fucking poetic.
