I am looking into this scope for regular viewing as well as possibly adding a dslr for astrophotography. Is it capable of having a dslr (Canon M body) attached?
Hi mate and thanks for tuning in…yes indeed, you can use a Canon M on it, you just need to get a T ring with the Canon M fitting. Hope that helps! 😀
Great review...thank you ;0)
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for tuning in! 👍🏻🔭📸
Love it man! NO LIP!!😊✌️
🤙🤣
Nice Johntonian
Lol! Thanks mate! :)
I will have to look at getting one of these. I have a Senso 2 on my Esprit 100, and while it's a great bit of kit, it connects to the Focuser via the fine focus knob which is a ball-bearing drive, rather than direct drive, and can sometimes slip.
Highly recommended Pete and mine has been working flawlessly! I love the form factor and after trying a couple of other focusers on my Esprit 100 already (Pegasus and ZWO), this Astroasis one has been the best and most reliable for sure. Best of luck and let us know how you get on with it! :)
Very nice Steve, got to love a big Newt :)
Thanks Pete! Going to run it natively for imaging and also do some EAA and Livestreams with a Starizona Nexus to speed it up a bit…stat tuned! ;) Hope you’re well mate and having a great week!
🎉
Thanks!
It’s not ‘the proof is in the pudding’, it’s ‘the proof of the pudding is in the eating’. I know it sounds petty but I can’t believe how many people get this wrong. I just looked this filter up and it costs £398! My telescope cost less than that!
Lovely, thank you! 😍 I can't decide between the Mak 127 and the 150... Is the Mak 150 worth the extra weight, and heavier mount? 😊
Thanks for tuning in mate and glad you found it helpful! :) If you can swing it, I'd say go for the 150 for increased aperture, while still maintaining the portability...if not, the 127 is still a peach, in my opinion. Best of luck and let us know what you decide on... :)
Do you have issues with tilt? I just picked up the 2600mc duo to use with the lens and I’ve read many people have tilt issues while using the canon bayonet adapter
Hi mate, I’ve had zero issues with tilt on my rig and the Astrodymium clamps really keep everything nicely snug, so I never have any play at all. Maybe I’ve just been lucky, but I’ve had no problems with it. Enjoy the DUO and let us know how you get on with it! :)
@@scotiaastro Thanks! Maybe I'll just grab the filter drawer attachment as an easy way to attach the camera to the lens even if I dont plan on using filters immediately . I'm assuming not using a filter doesn't affect anything, correct?
I’m a little late to this video lol but, I noticed you have 2 weights and in photos on Amazon and high point it doesn’t show coming with 2. Is it after market? Where did you get your from? Mine comes Wednesday and I need both so yeah
Hi mate, thanks for tuning in. As I understand it, the early runs of the SA GTis only came with one counterweight, but as folk quickly realised and feedback suggested a second would be handy, then the new production runs came with two as standard (like mine). So, if you’ve ordered recently then yours should have two, but they are available to purchase individually too, if you ever need more, Hope that helps and have fun with it, it’s a fun wee unit.
@ ok yeah that’s what I thought, I ordered it from sky watcher USA and it still hasn’t come. In the description it says 1 counter weight, so maybe it’s out of date
Wow, that s some good tips. Just starting out here and bought the 127 MAK with AZ-GO2. Just a question: You put in the 2 inch adapter but all the recommended stuf is 1.25 inch. Or do I miss something? thanks so much for your reaction.
Thanks so much for tuning in, mate! :) Sorry for the confusion, but if you skip ahead to the 3:15 mark on my video, you'll see the 2 inch to 1.25 inch adapter that I sometimes use if the equipment I'm using is 1.25 inch. That way, I get the best of both worlds! :) Hope that helps, but any other questions just fire them over and good luck with your Skymax! :)
@@scotiaastro Thanks! I m reading that using 2inch on a 1.25 opening gives issues in the corners. How to avoid that?
And followed on insta etc.
I see you also have the Sigma 24mm ART. It is great. I use it for landscapes all the time.
Looks like a nicely built focuser. Sometimes it's worth paying a little extra for a quality product. Nice review. Clear skies. And the answer to your question - The Cosmic Reef
Thanks Logan…I was struggling to find a focuser that I liked on my Esprit 100 and had already tried a couple of options, but this fit the bill perfectly! Yes indeed, happy to pay a bit more for quality too! Hope you and your family are all well and take care, mate… 🔭📸
dielectric coatings have more scatter than regular SIO2 coatings. So my advice is to go with the expensive ones if you really want to go dielectric. Otherwise for all catadioptrics, a prism diagonal is far more contrasty and sharp but just as bright.
Great tip, thanks for sharing! 👍🏻🔭📸
I'm using almost the exact setup but with the asi 585mcpro. I cannot achieve infinity focus at F2.8. I have to stop it down quite a bit. As suggestions?
I have a question, I got the Skywatcher 150PDS recently and am very new to the astrophotography hobby. I am at the point where I need auto guiding to get better results and go for bigger projects. I see you have the 130 which still shows around the same field of view as the 150. Do you think the ZWO 30mm f/4 guide scope with the ASI120mm mini would do a good job with this setup?
Hey Will! Thanks for tuning in mate! :) You'll have no problems with the ZWO 30mm on the 150PDS...I have a TS Photon 150 and use it on that too, so it's a nice match. Good luck on your astro journey and loving your content! Best wishes, Steve :)
Thank you for this. I wonder if they can make the focuser for the Samyang 135mm fitted with an Astrodymium Ring System? Large user base (at Astrobin) at a competitive price.
No worries, Tom! Thanks for tuning in...yes, an option with the Samyang 135 would be great! I'd suggest you reach out to Astroasis via email and ask, they're super responsive and seem keen to adapt the focuser to as many setup options as possible, so they might be able to advise on that. :)
Thank you so much for the video review!😀
No problem 😊
Good detailed video, but wow that's a very, very expensive solution. When I first started using autofocus, I thought a clutch might be useful but so far have never, ever needed one. First one was a ZWO EAF, then went to the much, much cheaper LittleLight Gemini focuser - easily as good as the ZWO. I can buy four of them for the price of this astroasis product.
Thanks so much for tuning in mate! :) Yes, I hear ya in regards to the cost, but for my use cases, the additional load capability and the other features that the Rose provides is certainly worth it...I have three ZWO EAFs BTW and love them too, so room for both options. Haven't tried the Gemini yet but heard good things about it, glad it's working well for your setup. Have a great weekend and best wishes! :)
How did you correct the problem with the unit's backlash?
The backlash can be compensated by "Overshoot" compensation method. Many applications (such as NINA, SGP etc) implement the "Overshoot" backlash compensation method. The Rose focuser itself implements this method too. It can be enabled or disabled through focuser configuration. And instead of using flex components, the gears and rigid components used by Rose focuser can provide excellent backlash compensation performance.
Very nice, I am really happy with mine too…clear skies..👍🏻
Awesome Stuart! Just saw your video this morning (it was great!)...nice to see how it fits to other systems! Take care mate and clear skies to you! :)
Very thorough and well laid out.
Thanks buddy, hope it was helpful...have a great weekend and best wishes! :)
❓QUESTION OF THE DAY: What was the last Astrophotography target that you imaged? 🤔🔭📸
Clouds
Will it woke with asi air
@@chamithathukorala1985 no
@@chamithathukorala1985 Not likely - ZWO lock the asiair to use ZWO focusers/cameras/guide cameras only. The only freedom you have is mount choice (to a point)
@@Visualographer_ LOL! I know what you mean mate! ;)
Why do you guide with the 135mm on an azeq6?
Hey mate, thanks for tuning in! I generally only auto-guide with the Samyang if I'm imaging over 180s...the AZ-EQ6 GT Pro does ok unguided under that...I recently got a Star Adventurer GTi, so the Samyang lives there permanently as it looks a bit ridiculous on the large mounts! LoL!
@@scotiaastro Thank you :)
Looks like a copy of the Optec Focuslynx? The clutch is the same.
Thanks. I have the Orion version of this which seems to be the same. I've been looking for information on how to change the visual back.
Thanks for tuning in Gene and glad it helped! :)
