    Hey Folks! Join me to today as I get some first light testing on my new narrowband filter, the ANTLIA ALP-T 5nm Dual Band!
    I throw some pretty tough conditions at it, but it my opinion, it performed great and its definitely going to be a keeper for me! I can't wait to do more tests on it and will share them in upcoming astrophotography videos, so stay tuned!
    Hope you enjoy the video and clear skies to you all!

    Very pleased to see how well that worked out for you. I often pair this with my 533MC and I love how it doesn't produce the halos I get on the L-Extreme. Clear skies.

      Cheers, Ollie! Looking forward to trying it out on the 533 too! Promising results so far and yes, great to see no halos! Hope you have a great weekend, buddy! Clear skies! 😀🔭📸

    Hey Steve,
    I bought Antlia triband RGB filter, a month ago, here in greater London, I'm under bortle 8/9 Skies, LED street light on my street.
    I few weeks ago Image M81 and M82 galaxies galaxies, it came great , but as the spring weather has been wet and windy, I haven't managed to try out on any other targets.

      Great to hear that the Triband is working well for you, Corin! Best of luck with it and let us know how you get on throughout the season! Thanks for tuning in and have a great weekend! :)

    Good to see that these filters consistently don't produce halos around bright stars. Great image.

      Thanks so much, Logan! Yes, so happy that there’s no trace of any halos and been really impressed with how it handled some difficult conditions…looking forward to seeing how it performs under more favourable conditions too! Have a great weekend mate and clear skies! 👍🏻🔭📸

    I just picked up the high speed version to use on my hyperstar, have actually had it for many month but can’t seem to catch a break in the clouds.

      Best of luck with it, mate! Let us know how you get on with it...cloud situation same here in Scotland! Lol!

    I'm ready to upgrade from the L-eXtreme but have not decided on the Antlia ALP-t or L-Ultimate. Beautiful image!

      Thanks so much! Yes, was facing a similar choice and I saw several lovely images with both filters, but I decided to take a chance and opt for the Antlia...been really happy with it so far! Good luck with the upgrade and let me know what you decide! Have a great weekend! :)

    I currently use the IDAZ NBZ, which is great especially as you don't get star halos with it. Have been looking for a NB filter with a tighter band pass and this one seems to keep coming up! Might have to pull the trigger for the new season in Scotland starting at the end of August!

    • @scotiaastro
      @scotiaastro  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers, mate! Been really happy with the Antlia so far and I've still to try out the RGB one too...heard great things about the NBZ too though, especially on faster systems. Hope you have a fun astro season and best wishes! :)

      @@scotiaastro This is astromarkc, it's been good, 30 hours more exposure than last season, but the last 3 months in Scotland have been dire.

    Great video question on the Antlia narrowband filters are you seeing halos? Been watching a few videos and it looks like if you are using a f4 or slower you don't have a halo issue just if you are f3.6 or faster is where you see the halos. For the slower version of the filters f3.6 and slower. Thanks

    • @scotiaastro
      @scotiaastro  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for tuning in mate! I've haven't had any halo issues at all with this filter when imaging at F4 and slower and I highly recommend it, it's been a fantastic performer for me so far! :) I also image with a Samyang 135 F2 and ZWO camera combo, but I have an IDAS NBZ UHS filter for that as its meant for high speed use...hope that helps and have a great week! :)

    Hello, question here. To use the skywatcher cc on the 130 pds, do you need to shorten the focuser tube?

    • @scotiaastro
      @scotiaastro  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for tuning in mate! I've tried three different coma correctors on my 130PDS and they've all worked great with no issues or image interfering protrusion into the focuser tube. I mainly use (fairly large) Skywatcher CC which is optimised for the Quattro series, but they work great on the F5 scopes, like the PDS. I've also tried the Baader CC and the 0.9x Skywatcher Reducer/Corrector...hope that helps and have a great day! :)

    Hi Steve, that's a cracking Rosette in pretty trying trying circumstances. Just wondering if this filter would be a suitable upgrade from my current Optolong l-Enhance? From memory I think the Ha bandpass is 12 nm so going to 5 nm looks like a serious jump for me. No sign of any halos on your Antlia either which is always a concern when investing in filters. Clear skies!

    • @scotiaastro
      @scotiaastro  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers, Stuart! Much appreciated and thanks for tuning in! I'd definitely consider the ALP-T an upgrade in many ways to the L-Enhance and I've certainly noticed more signal in my subs and yes, the lack of halos is a bonus! Saying that the L-Enhance is a cracking filter too and I still use mine, so really depends what you're shooting I guess and how often you get out to image? Hope that helps, but anything else I can do, just let me know and have a great weekend! :)

    I have just got the Antlia ALP-T DUALBAND 5nm Hb and SII and can't wait to try it!
    I've been getting good results from my Antlia Triband RGB and Zwo Dualband filters. Are you doing channel extraction with the data from these filters?

    • @scotiaastro
      @scotiaastro  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice mate, good luck with the Hb SII version...hearing good things about it! I'm looking forward to getting more time with my Antlia 5nm and trying out some different processing techniques! :)

    It’s not ‘the proof is in the pudding’, it’s ‘the proof of the pudding is in the eating’.
    I know it sounds petty but I can’t believe how many people get this wrong.
    I just looked this filter up and it costs £398! My telescope cost less than that!
