Thanks mate, yes we had quite the show over the course of the night! We used to see it more regularly when we lived up in the Highlands, but it's very rare (especially at this intensity) down here in Central Scotland...was a real treat! :)
Great timelapse. I saw this same event last night from Cambridge UK, totally amazing and so far south. I wasn't prepared but luckily the night mode of my phone worked great.
We had an epic show here in the Midlands never thought we'd see anything like it here not only could you see it looking North but East West & up to the zenith
No mate didn't see it, my weather app indicated that it was going to be unsuitable for imaging with a thick layer of high cloud so I went down the pub with my mate for a couple of hours. When I went home the sky was sort of clear but a funny milky white colour. Some miles to north of my property lies one of the largest oil refineries in the country and various other industrial sites so there is always an "aurora" above them especially if there is any cloud or haze. Wish I had known in advance, I would have driven to a dark site for the evening. Great video anyway mate.
@@scotiaastro No Steve, I live just outside Chester, my back garden faces due North, the refinery being Stanlow, but there are other petrochemical plants around it. Actually, I was watching an astro physasist, Tim O'Brien I think, talking about it this morning on the BBC and from what he was saying I may have actually seen it but assumed what I saw was light being reflected off the high level cloud that had been forecast earlier in the day. There have certainly been some very nice images taken from around my area appearing in the media and on-line Hopefully there will be a few more before the solar Max comes to an end.
❓QUESTION OF THE DAY: Did you get a glimpse of the May 10 2024 Aurora? Let us know in the comments where you saw it from!
Beautiful!!, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching! :)
Wonderful captures of the Aurora Steve. Must have been such a spectacle there.
