I'm not sure I would have purchased that lot. Thin bars and Mintabi...notorious for cracks and poor face even with great color showing from the sides...too risky for me. Thanks for sharing

It’s a Rhombus almost. Beautiful bright colors. Tommy I finally got the Parcels after fighting with the local post office. The delivery person is lazy and doesn’t come to my door to get my signature, instead they put a note in my mailbox asking for a signature. After two trips to the post office I got it.

Lovely crystal. $500 for the lot, nice. Shouldn't have a problem making a profit. I have to say that I'm a big fan of cutting Coober Pedy rough. Would love to see you show your finished gems in indirect, natural light. Direct lighting can make even average opal look spectacular. High end gems still look spectacular in indirect, natural lighting.

I just started my journey and I’m on a budget. I bought a few small parcels and won a few auctions on some amazing pieces, but I’m nervous. What’s your tips for getting past the nerves?

For $100 I think you did very well. Red is better 😂 but the green is great too 👍

The reason you can't put a torch through this opal is because it is dark opal. You can't shine a flashlight through gray/dark opal. This isn't black opal. True black opal will let a flashlight shine through the colorbar. If a section doesn't shine through it is because the matrix decends down into the colorbar. I've been working with opal for about 10yrs. Promise this is dark opal not black opal.

Awesome little pieces there at the end, and those matrix ovals are absolutely gorgeous! (Of course I am a sucker for the red side aha)

That what you call gem black matrix is treated andamooka opal , have got heaps of it and it's not worth much as opposed to genuine black opal , I live at andamooka and should know

Pretty little gems! Certainly, a very fair price for a parcel like the one you showed in video. Reminds me of some Andamooka crystal rough I bought about a year or two ago. Has that same blue color. One of the nicest gems I ever cut came from that parcel. Was also one of the best bargains I ever found.
