What a amazing video. I love the treated stuff, even more now. I've treated Ethiopian opal with sugar and baking it in aluminum foil for a hour... it's black black and cracked cracked...lol but nothing goes to waste with me... they're going to make beautiful inlay with some wonderful local black stone I find locally. Great matrix! It treated very well. I have yet to try a heart shape as I think it will be incredibly difficult to make symmetrical. Well done with the final stone. Matrix is not loved enough, imo. I love the views of the cross-section after cutting. Even untreated this matrix has VERY awesome color. Question: do you have any idea of the history of the treatments of matrix, particularly who discovered, and how, that this stuff actually got darker/black from baking it in sugar and acid?
it is not easy to make it symmetrical. There are many different heart shapes and i actually like those that are longer on one side finishing almost in a drop shape. This one worked out pretty well. I do not have the history of the treatment something to research thank you :)
Gorgeous matrix, brother. However, I suspect you will struggle to sell that rough at $50 to $70 per ct. No upside for someone who wants to cut it and resell it. Hopefully, I'm wrong. Take care.

I thought 100 per ct in AUD which is less than half price to that is giving enough upside specially if put in a high quality jewellery design. My site has make an offer option a lot of people make offers everything is negotiable. Happy to keep a lot of it too as it is only going up. I appreciate the thoughts :)

It is an option for those who want to contribute and say thank you and for that they get extras and also discounts on my store. We live in a society with money unfortunately we need too pay for living. I believe we can make a difference to some people in need over long term as community. It is my main motivation going public which was very hard for me as i am pretty private person. I realised I can't make a difference by hiding and this platforms allows more avenues to do that. I understand some can't contribute money and there is no expectations for that at all. They contribute by watching and commenting and that is very helpful and i am very grateful for that. Many reach out privately. I am trying to deliver value for people to learn and be entertained. Find they love for their passion and others. Love for life. Its only a start. I’ve been very curious about opal matrix. Been watching a few others on TH-cam treat it. How much are the slabs you have ? Cost wise and what size are they ? You’ve got my interest piqued. And yeah, that song is quickly becoming one of my favorites as well.
I can’t believe it you know the song. I am a big fan of “ Black pumas “ we have been listing and singing along that one for few weeks. I have only a little of it test treated the quality you see in the video. I have them as 100 to 150 per carat AUD I bought it with the 3.5k we had from that 150 on the journey to 10k. The big piece I have is 79 carats the rest I cut into smaller pieces now . You can make me an offer on site too. I shoot me an email anytime.
