How heavy was the head on the rod that broke on the cast? I heard you could break a rod casting too heavy of a head, but hadn't seen it demonstrated.

Thats is a nasty lookin fly!! The steelhead in the spring where i'm at will gobble it im sure! I would attempt a size 4# salmon hook version of this. I'm not ready for tube flies or similar articulated intruders yet.. Fish on!!

That river used to be known for its steelhead. Unfortunately it famously sad for chum. A 15pound steelhead was considered a small fish. Now you're lucky to get one a year from the Indian hatcheries on the green.

Question if you don't mind - Where do you buy large guinea? I can't find any of the Jumbo feathers they used to sell, so I'm having trouble tying the Hoh Bo and other patterns that require larger feathers.

When you tie flies like that no wonder you get sweaty. I'm definitely in the sweaty fingers club. The loon d loop tweezers make a difference. I here they made a shorter version too....
