Winter fishing can be a little grueling, the upside is usually less fishermen. Fished the Mo last week and had a stellar day only saw one other boat . Downside when we took out it was dark and everything was frozen. Thanks for sharing your pain :-)
I usually never make it over to the Mo, but this time of year is the exception. Way less folks makes for more enjoyable fishing. My local waters in SW MT are closed for the most part these days so it may be time for a trip to Craig!
Great video. You guys are getting better all the time. I must say, I’m an old fart and didn’t want to like you when you started ( my bad). But you are funny, entertaining, and knowledgeable. Keep it up!!
your guys steelhead fishing jokes are always on point.. i also mostly fish the hoh's, they're like a if a intruder married a string leech and had a child
Probably just no fish around. We were chomping at the bit and went out super early in the season. I couldn’t care less about color in clear water I’ve had them eat everything in the rainbow in gin clear water haha.
Not a firm believer in that saying. I’ve had lots of gain with no pain. And had lots of pain with no gain . Although when your boots laces are frozen and you can’t get them off until you can get the truck warmed up that’s a pain
That "stacking" system where you can pickpocket your buddy's fish is pretty similar to what I do. One time we were fishing for trout with indicators and I stripped a ton of line out and let it drift downstream into the hole my buddy was fishing. BAM! I stole a 22" rainbow from his hole. He now likes to call the move "The A-hole". "It isn't high holing, it isn't low holing, you're just an asshole!"
Hi guys 😊 Love your video's 👍 Good advice to people who are taking up steelhead fishing.... Would be fun see you over to Scandinavia something forward on. I have my buddy in Redmond/Oregon. So would be fun swing some flies next I'm go over. Hope we get bit more private contact! If you like ? We fish here in Sweden as you do. The big difference is we do not have steelhead. But big Baltic salmon and big sea trout that's our main goal on fly. Rainbow trout we have to ofcourse. I glad give you my phone number and E-mail so you know. Not best place type it here I guess. Hope you respond back and we can come up whit something forward on. Would be fun try the Renegade 11,6 8# No one really disturb those here in Scandinavia as I'm see. Keep on the way you go 👍 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ From a cold ❄ Sweden 🇸🇪 Best regards Bjorn
@@savageandsmith Hope sure you do ! I might go over to Deshutes to the fall and swing whit my buddy. Would be fun if you joined us for a day or two. So let's get in touch as I know the time and day. Under the time swing on as you do..... Happy 2024🍾
Ah yes shared misery, every winter steelhead fisherman’s favorite pastime 😂. Great episode, solid banter. Keep em coming boys.
Haha you know it. Thanks man!

Yeah the pain is real! No pain no gain haha.

Couple of AA batteries linked up to a hand warmer on that stick…..yea!

Yeah exactly, the perfect fly haha.
You guys ever throw T-14 in that system ?
Right on guys! Digging your vids! 🤘
Thanks Marty!
If you learn to grease it, you can present it broadside and slow. Much easier on a dry line, than a sinktip, though.
Good tip, we’ll start grease lining.
Awesome content
Guys thanks for another great video! What’s that yellow running line you’re using?
It’s 40lb Berkeley Big Game
@@savageandsmith thanks!
Awesome! Love the content!
Thanks!
Great video! Are you fishing floating or a sinking tip fly line?
We are using 120g SA Sink tips attached to floating commando skagit heads.
Looks like olive water to me.....do u think no fish ? Or no fish willing to eat?
Probably just no fish around. We were chomping at the bit and went out super early in the season. I couldn’t care less about color in clear water I’ve had them eat everything in the rainbow in gin clear water haha.
solid day on the water boys
Thanks dude!
Standard day on the Sky
I dont go in the cold anymore around the great lakes, never have much luck not worth goin out.
It’s not for the feint of heart
Use a hot water bottle for warming hands or small parabolic gas heater.
Ummm, hand warmers?
Nitrile gloves under some fingerless wool gloves and you’ll be on em all day boys
Or just wool fingerless gloves, even soaked they're warm & feel dry

Haha fair point! However, who’s to say all that pain didn’t craft you into the person who went back later where it seemed to come easy 🤔
@@savageandsmith no one , and fortunately it’s true . Can’t wait to go tomorrow
Skagit?
No sir!
Looks like Sky
