Shogi games are very long. Currently, there are eight Shogi title tournaments, and each tournament has its own method to determine the challenger. SO YOU FINALLY LOOK THIS WAY 🗣🗣🗣🗣 shimada the most underrated character in literally all of fiction straight up, hes so raw. Shares Kaiki's VA so that's obviously a plus (havent finished dont know if you noticed lole) - but his introduction is just so incredible for representing how rei just isn't paying any attention to him at all, he's portrayed as a literal jobber npc character before completely crushing our (so far) undefeated MC. I think the show does a really great job of letting us get arrogant WITH rei before showing that he's far from indestructible in Shogi, even when determined to win.

Shimada my goat, finally here. the way they perfectly set him up to make you underestimate him, just for him to completely shatter the arrogance set up by the whole defeat "the bad guy trope", they really put us in Rei's headspace.

Roxy didn’t actually have choice. She saved his life. He was not getting out of that self destructive spiral otherwise. He had refused every other attempt to get him on his feet up until this point. This was a last resort and it’s what it had to come to because Rudy wouldn’t respond to anything else. Also don’t mistake this as simply sex being the answer in a vacuum. Just doing it wouldn’t have helped him, which we already learned from his ED arc with Sylphie. In that instance ED was directly tied to sex but the solution wasn’t the act itself, but having strong intimacy with someone you have a deep love for AND someone you could rely on to stay by your side because the root of the problem was the fear of abandonment. This time is not too dissimilar after losing someone close to you. He didn’t even feel like he deserved to live blaming himself for Paul’s death. Roxy gave him an intimate level of comfort that only Sylphie could provide, but she was too far away. So it’s important to realize that it’s not the act itself but who he did it with. It’s a combination of factors that allowed him to gain even the smallest push to get on his feet and move forward. No one else could do this for him and no level of talking or forcing him to do something was going to work. You should understand that by now knowing that he already experienced that level of locking himself in his room for 2 decades in his previous life. Whether you like it or not, he needed that. Just because you see sex as something shallow, doesn’t mean it’s not infinitely more meaningful for someone else. He can’t control what it takes to make him feel better. He’s extremely fragile both mentally and emotionally and the intimate, warm, sensation of sharing something so sacred with someone who means the world to you is unmatched, especially for Rudy. Brushing it off as “just sex” is unfair and narrow minded.

Imo consequences in this show is not about punishment but responsibility. Regardless if they get punished or not they don't think it is ok, And personlly him attempting to marry Roxy and appologising to Sylphie is taking responsibility imo. which makes me see other LN readers who argue that this is not a mistake because it was ok in the end are simply dumb and not undersanding the story. when every character in the show own up to their mistake and apologies clearly saying it is a mistake and the reader goes it is not because Sylphie is ok with it so it wasn't a mistake is honestly very confusing for me. I do think Sylphie being OK with it is in character and I am glad with the inclusion of Norn here because what she said had to be said and so we get to hear that and witness some "drama" while still being faithful to the character's identity. People might say Sylphie shouldnt be ok with it but that s just projectio imo

Well even if you don’t end up watching the Mirai Fukuin and Extra Chorus episodes, this has been a great reaction and discussion for the series overall. It’s pretty hard to find good reactions/discussions for this show due to the complex subject material and just the very niche nature of the series in general as it tends to get overshadowed by Fate.

The anime did not adapt all of Silfie's personality and thoughts, so it is easy to think that she would forgive everything Rudy does.

It's all a money problem, it costs a lot of money to create an anime and Mushoku doesn't sell as much as JJK or Demon Slayer, that's why the studio has to make difficult decisions in the adaptation, besides those of us who read the novels (Harry Potter or Mushoku) can always re-read the books as a consolation.

I think your reaction to the naughty parts is wildly exagarated, but whatever. I understand wanting more drama, maybe it’s just this being my first isekai, I’m finding lack of predictable drama refreshing so that’s probably a me thing. That said, mental gymnastics some people in the coments are going trough to clean up the characters is wild beyond belief. In the end, I’m not into meta analysis of stories, it can too easily devolve into judging the story for what it isn’t rather than what it is. Looking forward to season 3, cheers!
