Glad you love the movie. Idk if you noticed but Shiki didn't kill those people in movie 2. It was all Lio's doing. If you rewatch movie 2 again, you never see Shiki killed anyone. You only see her near or during at the same time a victim dies.
Another clue is when Mikiya saw Shiki in smiling at a headless body with blood spattered all over. You don't see Shiki's knife. Shiki also hasn't awakend her mystic eyes.
To be able to chop off a head that easily requires inhuman strength or mystic power and There is another person in that place recording and stalking in shadow which is Lio whose consumption origin has awakened.
Shiki is truly a kind person.
I haven't watched these in probably 6 or 7 years. I am so glad I stumbled upon your channel while you were going through them and got me to watch them all again. I kind of initially thought I would write in-depth essays in your comments like I did on the first film for all of them, but I sort of just got wrapped up into everything and realized that I did not remember or understand them as well as I thought I did all of those years ago, and anything I could say would be utterly stupid in comparison to what the films say themselves entirely on their own.
I'd recommend checking out the Garden of Sinners Mirai Fukuin and Mirai Fukuin Extra Chorus episodes after the epilogue too. I believe they even reference an event that happened in one of them at the end of this movie when they were talking about a girl who had clairvoyance.
One of the interesting things of a lot of series in the nasuverse do, particularly Garden of Sinners and Witch On The Holy Night, is how in this world of fantasy and magic the series instead focuses more so on the beauty found within the normal and mundane. I believe these themes are further enhanced by the setting of most all of the nasuverse series which commonly mix magic and fantasy with urban cityscapes settings for an urban fantasy like setting quite literally intertwining the mythical and mundane together. Personally, it's not a combination I've seen a lot of other series do outside of Type Moon works, at least not nearly as well anyways, which gives a pretty unique vibe to these series that I haven't really felt much of elsewhere.
These videos greatly enhance my understanding and enjoyment of Kara no Kyōkay. (agh, I don't know how to word it…) Just, thank you so much!
