    Thank you, I've been avoiding using my router for over a year because it was broken and was planning on buying a new one. I took it apart tonite to clean it and give it one last go, but it still gave me trouble. I did noticed that the spring clip was loose so I googled replacements and found my way to this video. thank you for putting it out there, I've ordered the parts and will be fixing it tomorrow... all so I can build a new door!

    do you find the fix base easily scratches the shiny silver surface of the router? You can hear it scraping as you move router up and down; and sometimes it's very hard to slide with clamp open.

    • @philackerly3174
      @philackerly3174 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Fixed it by waxing the surfaces. For some reason the surface inside the fix base (that contacts the router) was pitted. Light sanding took care of it.

      @@PetefromBaltimore after waxing and adding stop collar it's smooth as silk now and works like a charm - hopefully it continues that way. Curious if your router slides up and down easily too.

  • @DonHubin

    Thank you for this video. Like others who have commented, I had the very problem you solved here. It took me a while to realize that the c-clip was the issue. I had just gotten table and wound up taking the router out three times to see why I wasn't able to adjust it from above the table. When I had it out and on its side. the friction of the adjustment shaft allowed the fine adjustment to work even without the c-clip in the right place. But, when I put it back in, the weight of the router made the router simply fall when I loosened the clamp. I was able to get the original c-clip back in the groove but I've ordered a drill stop set to make a more permanent fix. I'm surprised, and frankly disappointed in Bosch, at this sub-standard engineering on an otherwise well-made router from a company with a good reputation. The fix you devised should not have been necessary but, given that it was, I'm really glad I found your video.

    That Bosch router and table kinda talked me out of buying anything from Bosch ever again. Most of it is the standard router base. It's terrible; the way it latches onto the router is such a problem.

    • @PetefromBaltimore
      @PetefromBaltimore หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Bosch Router Table is definitely not the right choice for a professional. It’s ok for the weekend hobbyist. You get what you pay for. The router has been fine for me other than the retaining clip on the height adjustment rod. Thanks for watching.

  • @Everyday_Railroading
    @Everyday_Railroading หลายเดือนก่อน

    So, the rod stays in the base it doesnt move up and down like yours to create that 3/4" gap to install the drill bit stop. Did they change the design or whats going on why the rod wont separate from the base?

    • @PetefromBaltimore
      @PetefromBaltimore หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello. If the retaining clip is in place and holding… then the rod will not slip thru the base. That’s normal operation. It’s when the retaining clip fails that the rod no longer keeps its position and slides out from the base. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for watching

    I’m definitely a stay at home type person. However, when I went to Oahu in July, I was not in my room much. I was always out and about enjoying the scenery and amazing fresh air. I stayed in La’ie for a few days then in Waikiki for a few. I was in awe of the beautiful greenery! Of course that was because it was my first visit and I’ve spent my entire life living in the freaking ugly desert. Someday I’m leaving it behind to enjoy a naturally green environment
