Reol, like Ado, came from the utaite community, singers who sang covers of vocaloid songs. She even sang covertly before, but 5 years ago she stopped hiding. She is 30 years old. She is a singer, poet, composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer. Including a vocaloid producer too.

Watching the video of Type O Negative songs is good for visual content, but you do yourself an injustice considering that the songs are truncated for time. I can only recommend that you listen to the album versions of the songs to get the full experience.

This entire album "October Rust" is considered the most goth baby-making album of all time! Thousands of pimple-faced goths lost their virginity to this album in the late 90's. I saw them 3 times on this tour. 6 or 7 years ago my band got to open for the band Life of Agony, and the band Silvertomb was also on the show. Silvertomb features the guitarist and drummer of Type O Negative. I got to thank Johnny and Kenny for this album. I dated a goth girl at the time this album came out.... This album brought out the demons!

8:23 Yes! There have been live concerts for quite a long time now. I finally got to see her for the first time in October last year during the Miku Expo Europe tour. She’s either projected on a “hologram” screen or on a regular screen like at the Ado concert. The Vocaloid performers are always accompanied by a live band, and while you’re not coming to see an actual person, you get to see the characters do fancy motion captured choreography while singing as well as hang out with other fans.

Something I’d like to add to the other comments is that since Miku is just a synthesizer, she can sound really different depending on which artist is using it and what style they’re going for. Livetune has more of an autotune vibe to their songs, while MitchieM (the person who tuned Miku in the Ado song) is well known for a more realistic tuning style! Many artists have their signature style so you can tell their songs apart from others. I recommend checking out more Vocaloid producers and hopefully other voice banks (characters). There are actually more than 90 different ones despite only Miku and the other Crypton vocaloids getting most the recognition. ❤

Four Big A- Dudes from Brooklyn; who did landscaping in the summer of the 90s, decided to start a rock band as a joke, to make fun of goths... ended up becoming iconic pillars of the goth community. So much so that the lead singer's ironic use of constantly wearing fangs became synonymous with their music. IIRC correctly he played a 6 and 7 string bass instead of a 4 string. Can you believe I got in an argument not too long ago with a guy who swears up and down that Type-O was NOT goth, that they are purely metal. I argued that they were both but he wasn't having it. My only regret is not seeing them live. I had multiple opportunities over the years but something always came up that I had to cancel plans. one time I thought this was going to be the time to finally see them and then the band cancelled the show because Peter got sick. FML. Did you know Peter Steele was featured in Play Girl (Play Boy for women) magazine as a centerfold? You're welcome. Snarky is my favorite group. I’ve been binge-watching reaction videos to them. Yours is, by far, the best. Best reaction and excellent musical knowledge.

The piano was a keyboard patch blended with a synth pad. Pro Tools was still in its infancy. This album was largely recorded in analog, and transferred into digital for overdubbing, mixing, and mastering. That was the typical recording process in the mid 90's. But all of the core tracks were done in analog. But yes, this is a perfect gothic love song. Peter was a master of blending evocative lyrics just graphic enough to get his intentions across without out being excessively explicit. An art form that is lost on many of today's artists.

Being a music lover in his 60s, as I get older, I realize that what was mainstream and ubiquitous from my generation, is not really known with the younger listeners, and that's understandable. But it is great to see people discovering the beautiful and sometimes forgotten music of the recent past. So, so many great songs.
