About the shoes, as I explained in the video, the upper is made of what's called "microfiber leather"--which is not cow leather. It's made of tiny fibers pressed together with resin. And the inside is "vegan leather."

I found their sizing chart to be accurate. And like you, I figured that if I'm going to be wearing these winter boots, I'm going to be wearing them with thicker socks, so I ordered with a full 2cm extra length (29cm long), which is their size 44. I think I talked about the midfoot width in the video; but I found it to be perfect for my feet. With that much extra space in the front, the midfoot keeps them feeling secure on my feet. I have heard one or two similar stories. Super bummer. Nice little shoes. I think if someone wants to try these, the best thing is to do your research and choose the right size the first time. If, for some reason, you choose wrong, re-sell them on ebay for as much as you can get, rather than returning them.

I would say trace your feet. Measure the length and width. Then look at their chart and choose whichever size will give you around 10-13mm extra length.. but that's me. I hate giving sizing advice because I don't want to get the blame if you get a size that doesn't fit the way you want it to. Your best bet is probably to measure your feet and contact their customer service and let them advise you.

These are much wider toeboxes than Vivo or Lems. As far as length, I normally shoot for around 12-15mm extra length.. but with hiking and/or cold weather boots, I leave a little more because I'm likely to wear them with thick socks, etc... so with these, no the extra length doesn't bother me personally.. but we're all different--it depends on your foot shape, the shape of the shoe in comparison, etc.

If by "more supportive" you mean "arch support," then for most people I would advise against that, since that would defeat one of the purposes of barefoot shoes--to re-strengthen your arches and get to the point of not needing arch support. But maybe you meant something else. I actually did swap out the insoles on mine for a thinner one that has a less "plasticky" feel, so my feet won't sweat as much. Other than that though, yeah, they're a style I like, fairly wide and comfortable, and reasonably priced--can't complain!

@@barefootshoejosh Yes, but the other reason is toe-spreading, so for drumming or some casual martial arts, it's okay for older folks with no natural ball-padding left, to support the arch and add a cupped heel. We have bone to concrete once we pass 60 and we need a little cushion or it hurts to walk.

I typed a long response to your comment yesterday but for some reason I don't see it here now. Apologies, I don't know what happened. Realfoot is notoriously wide in the forefoot... but you're wearing Ahinsa which also has a wide forefoot... so I'm not sure what you mean about having narrow feet--unless you mean the midfoot. If that's what you mean, Realfoot is pretty narrow in the midfoot area. I don't like telling someone whether a shoe will fit them or not, because there's no way I could know that... so I'm going to steer you to Realfoot's info on fit. 1) please use my link bit.ly/joshrealfoot 2) navigate to the Highlander Vegan boot (if that's the one you're getting) 3) scroll down a little and click the red text link that says "How to choose size?" 4) Use one of their two methods for sizing described there: a) foot measuring and follow the instructions for leaving extra space, etc. b) print their PDF, stand on it and follow the instructions on it. Different strokes for different folks! These are hot, and the black/gum version I have is possibly even cooler; and good luck finding a single pair of shoes in any mall that would comfortably fit my feet. Splays are awesome.

Hi, I just went and looked at them. The answer is yes, there is stitching kind of countersunk into the sole... but the interesting part is that it's black stitching, whereas you can see the stitching above the edge of the sole is white (or maybe beige or whatever).. so it looks like there may be a couple of layers of stitching involved--possibly one for the midsole, and one for the outsole? I'm just guessing. All of that said, these are stylish, looking nice boots in my opinion. I'm not saying they couldn't stand up to work situations; but I personally would feel bad even scuffing these up. If you are looking for something more like work boots, I have two suggestions for you: 1) Use my affiliate link bearfoot.store/discount/joshua10 (this will save you 10%). Hi Mack-- Yes my normal shoe size is 10.5 or 11 US men's size. I mentioned the price in the video.. I think right now they're around $48 Euro--right now that's around $52 USD. You should just have ONE of your kids try them first and see if they work. I haven't tried either of these so I don't know if they fit the same or if they're similar quality or what--but if one of them works, you would save quite a bit since you're buying so many. I'm still not allowed to put any weight on it, so I'm still on crutches. Yes I've seen several versions. I've seen some comparisons, and this is one of the wider ones--plus I think they originated the idea--so I gravitated to them. So far I like them but I haven't gotten to give them some tougher tests yet, since I broke my dang ankle.

Hi.. yes.. the length is true to size, so very similar to Vivo in that regard. These are a few mm wider though, your feet will have just a little more space. Check Origo's sizing chart for more specifics. Click that link, and it will tell you the inside length and width of the shoes. Measure your feet, and try to allow an extra 8-15mm length inside the shoe, that should give you a really good idea of the best size to order for you. That's my two cents. If you don't want to do all of that, order your normal size and my guess is that you will be good. :)

Well the boots can accommodate them; but the question that matters is--can your feet fit in there once they do? If you have lower volume feet (the thickness from bottom to top), then yes, you should be fine. If your feet are thicker / higher volume, then it might be a little tight, depending on how thick of an insole you're talking about. I would just try them. Origo's return policy is pretty good--I think they only charge a $7 restocking fee. Just make sure they look just like they did when they arrived, don't try them outdoors, etc. Hopefully they'll fit perfectly for you and you won't have to use it--but this makes it pretty easy to give them a shot. I'll be honest with you. This one is sitting in my drawer, perhaps for a special occasion where I'm dressed with brown accents and I want to be hyper detailed. If my current wallet wears out at some point, I will probably just move to this one, it's really beautiful. Hi.. the length and width should be similar, if not identical between the Flex and Tanga. I have not tried the Flex. The Flex has a tongue, while the Tanga does not. I don't know about you, but I'm a simplicity fan, so the less edges and pieces and parts that are involved and potentially rubbing on my feet, etc, the better. My vote is for the Tanga. However, if you have lower volume feet, you may actually like having the tongue, because it might allow you to cinch things down tighter. Personal preference I guess. I thought of the "model" solution; but nobody I would do this with has the same size feet as me, so I don't think I can do it LOL. Thanks for the recommendation. I'm currently doing "seated' Qigong and "seated" yoga, since I can't do my regular yoga or qigong.. I like the swimming option though, we have a community pool in my neighborhood, so I will probably do that as soon as I can do so safely. Thanks again!

I've worn them in less than freezing, roughly 20 degrees F, and they were plenty comfortable to me; but different people's feet run colder or warmer than others--and I do have the extra warm insoles but I've actually never needed to put them in yet. As you mentioned, the website makes no claims of these being waterproof (having a membrane), so I'm not sure why you would expect them to be, or be disappointed that they weren't. Also, they're more of a casual boot vs. a hiking boot, so I've never worn them in muddy conditions, as that doesn't really seem to fit this type of boot--but if you found yourself somewhere where you needed to cross a muddy area for some reason, I guess I could see cleaning the soles being a problem. If you're looking for hiking boots, or waterproof boots, or extreme cold weather boots, there are some great options out there, some of which I may have covered here on the channel, and many others I haven't yet. When possible, it's always best to determine your needs up front, then find boots that are made to suit those particular needs, rather than trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, in my humble opinion.

Hi.. sorry I can't say that I have but I've walked in them a lot. I like to jog but right now I'm out of commission. As I mentioned in the video, these run a little narrow for my feet, so they probably wouldn't be my choice for running even if I was able to right now. I'm sure they're fine if you're already used to running in barefoot shoes though.

I think they only had half sizes on one or two models but I could be wrong about that. Their advice on this model is if you're ordering men's and you fall between sizes, order down. If you're ordering women's and you fall between sizes, order up. That's their advice not mine. That's very interesting. I've NEVER ONCE worn socks with either pair of Flux shoes I own. I've worn them both for miles and miles of walking and they both smell like new. I think experiences like this must vary by the person. One option you might consider is getting some different removeable insoles. You can wear them for a while, then get a new pair if they get stinky. My favorite insoles on Amazon: amzn.to/3TNPe1q
