Miles 42 was supposed to be Spiderman. The spider was just about to bite him before being taken away from his classroom. Unfortunately, he became the Prowler. Our Miles of 1610 was supposed to be outright the prowler, if you go back to ITSV you see his purple colours when Blond Peter Parker senses him. Phil Lord and Chris Miller had no intention of making a sequel, in fact Into The Spiderverse didnt do well at the box office but thanks to streaming it blew up. Basically, what were references in the first film became huge plot points in Across The Spiderverse. 42 was a reference, out of the explosion births The Spot. It was absolutely brilliant from those 2.

Watching this back in the day, it blew me and everyone away. It was a game changer as far as the action genre goes. It also meant an unprecedented salary for a big screen debutante. Actually, pretty much any actor. Word has it that other Hollywood actors were unimpressed and didn't exactly have nice things to say about Bruce. Maybe it was a case of jealousy? Regardless, he clearly proved them wrong... repeatedly.

I've seen a bunch of theories about how the two cakes thing is some big foreshadowing, but just now while watching this reaction it occurred to me that maybe it's just alluding to writing so much that they had to make two movies. I mean, Miles wrote so much that he had to get a second cake to fit the whole message, and the writers wrote so much that they had to get a second movie to fit the whole story. I dunno, makes sense to me.

The line in the movie when Ray talks about his father...only knowing him later in life when he was worn down. My Dad was 55 when I was born. Our little league baseball field was right behind the family store but Dad was so busy he and I and only played catch once. That last scene just slays me everytime I watch it..."hey Dad, you want to have a catch?" My sons know I love this movie, we were planning a trip from Ontario, Canada to Yellowstone National Park a year ago. I said there's one stop along the way I want to hit. So the 3 of us stopped in Dyersville, Iowa on the way to Yellowstone. The movie site is very well maintained, it was a nice stop on the way out!

As much as I love this movie overall, they really did Miguel dirty for his big screen debut, and that really bummed me out since he's one of my favorite Spider-Man variants. He is not a bad guy at all in his comics. He's an edgier Spider-Man (being a product of the 90's) but he is very much still a hero who would not behave as he does in this film. Some info about him under the cut if you're interested since this film doesn't really give you anything: . . . . He isn't a vampire, that was a joking comparison on Gwen's part. He was not bitten by a radioactive spider; instead his DNA got spliced with spider DNA during an experiment gone wrong (to simplify it haha), making him half human half spider. His red eyes are very sensitive, giving him night vision, telescopic vision and the ability to see fast-moving objects in slow motion. His fangs are able to inject a venom that causes temporary paralysis (the venom was powerful enough to paralyze a Hulk in a variant comic). Instead of the ability to stick to surfaces with electrostatic forces like most spider-people, he has talons on the pads of his fingers and toes that are sharp and strong enough to dig into almost any surface; he uses them to climb and to fight. He's a flawed character who's a bit of a self centered jerk at first, but learns to become better as he takes on the Spider-Man mantle. He lives in a super-late-stage-capitalism future where the corporation Alchemax is basically the government, and the police force is privatized, working for Alchemax. Miguel is a cyberpunk hero, so it really irks me that the writers put him at odds with the likes of Hobie and made him all about the system. Honestly the writers could have used the Superior Spider-Man character instead of Miguel; he fits the role of the morally dark grey control freak much better. If you read all the way to this point, kudos! Sorry for the little rant haha. I'm very passionate about this character if you couldn't tell. 😅

33:18 Gwen never said they all die she literally means that "it doesn't end well" in this scene, they just never end up together one way or another because we have Spider-Mans in this movie that have Gwens that are alive such as Tobey Maguire and Spectacular Spider-Man in both of these versions Gwen falls for Peter/Spider-Man but they don't end up together Sadly for all we know Andrew is the only one that lost his Gwen

And you will notice in Spots backstory. When the spider is taken away from earth-42 there a frame where it’s right next to a braided Miles. So Miles from earth-42 was supposed to be Spider Man of that universe but the spider was snatched away. So the theory is his Prowler is actually an anti-hero fighting the sinister 6 but he was supposed to be fighting them as Spider Man. I guess we will see when it finally comes out!

See No Evil, Hear No Evil (1989): Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder star as a blind man and a deaf man who witness a murder. (Bad news: Kevin Spacey is in it) It’s a comedic take on the crime genre, with plenty of slapstick humor and witty dialogue

Minority Report (2002) is a mind-bending sci-fi thriller where Tom Cruise plays John Anderton, a cop in a future where crimes are prevented before they happen-like being grounded for something you haven’t even done yet! When he becomes the target of a prediction, he’s forced to go on the run, diving headfirst into a world of moral dilemmas, slick visuals, and some seriously creepy tech that’ll make you rethink your online shopping habits.

The Maltese Falcon (1941) - This is the film that solidified Bogart as the quintessential hard-boiled detective. He plays Sam Spade, a private eye who gets tangled in a web of deceit over a priceless statuette. It’s like “Indiana Jones” but with more trench coats and less CGI. The Big Sleep (1946) - In this convoluted noir, Bogart is Philip Marlowe, a private detective navigating a case so twisted it makes a pretzel look straight. With Lauren Bacall by his side, their chemistry is hotter than a jalapeño pepper in July. Key Largo (1948) - Bogart and Bacall reunite in this tense thriller set during a hurricane, where a war veteran faces off against a mobster played by Johnny Rocco (Edward G. Robinson). It’s claustrophobic and suspenseful, like being stuck in an elevator with your ex. The Enforcer (1951) - Here, Bogart plays a district attorney trying to take down organized crime. It’s gritty and packed with tension, showcasing the battle between law and chaos-like “Law & Order” but with more grit and fewer commercials. Dead Reckoning (1947) - In this film, Bogart’s character is drawn into a web of murder and deceit after his friend goes missing. It’s classic noir with enough twists to make your head spin faster than a DJ at a rave. In a Lonely Place (1950) - Bogart plays a troubled screenwriter suspected of murder, exploring themes of paranoia and obsession. It’s as dark as your favorite emo playlist but with better dialogue.

M (1931): Picture a city gripped by fear as a child murderer lurks in the shadows, like a twisted game of hide-and-seek where nobody wants to be “it.” Fritz Lang’s film is as dark as Darth Vader’s wardrobe, exploring justice and morality with more twists than a pretzel at Oktoberfest. Peter Lorre’s performance is haunting, making you question if justice is ever truly served. The Roaring Twenties (1939): This film is like “The Great Gatsby” but with more bullets and fewer flappers. James Cagney and Humphrey Bogart navigate the Prohibition era’s crime scene like they’re playing Monopoly with Tommy guns. It’s a classic tale of rise and fall, proving that crime doesn’t pay unless you’re in Hollywood. Arsenic and Old Lace (1944): Think of this as “Psycho” meets “Golden Girls.” Cary Grant discovers his sweet old aunts are serving up arsenic-laced elderberry wine to lonely old men. It’s dark comedy gold, where murder is just another family quirk, like Uncle Bob’s bad jokes at Thanksgiving. Mildred Pierce (1945): Joan Crawford serves up drama hotter than a summer sidewalk in this noir classic. It’s a tale of ambition, betrayal, and pies-yes, pies. Mildred’s climb from waitress to restaurant mogul is as treacherous as navigating the line at Starbucks during rush hour. Gilda (1946): Rita Hayworth sizzles in this noir flick like bacon on a Sunday morning. Her character is caught between two men in a love triangle more complicated than assembling IKEA furniture without instructions. It’s glamorous, seductive, and packed with enough drama to rival a soap opera marathon. The Big Sleep (1946): Bogart and Bacall light up the screen in this detective story that’s as convoluted as trying to follow the plot of “Inception” after three margaritas. With snappy dialogue and enough plot twists to make your head spin, it’s a quintessential noir experience. The Killing (1956): Stanley Kubrick’s heist film is like watching Ocean’s Eleven if Danny Ocean had the charisma of a wet sock. It’s gritty, tense, and proves that even the best-laid plans can go haywire faster than you can say “plot twist.”

The Sugarland Express (1974) Spielberg’s debut, is a wild ride across Texas with Goldie Hawn leading a parade of police cars. It’s like Bonnie and Clyde had a love child with Smokey and the Bandit. Heartfelt, chaotic, and a bit of a mess-just like your average family road trip.

Charade (1963) It’s like a Hitchcock film that took a wrong turn at Albuquerque and ended up in a rom-com. It’s got Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant dodging bad guys in Paris, with more twists than a pretzel factory. It’s charming, witty, and has enough suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat without spilling your popcorn.
