Can you guys also please react to The Legend of Tarzan (2016) starring Alexander Skarsgård, Samuel L. Jackson, Margot Robbie, and Christoph Waltz? And maybe The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013) directed, produced, & starring Ben Stiller
They actually lay out what happens in the film early on at The Winchester. “We’ll have a Bloody Mary first thing [they kill a zombie named Mary in the backyard], a bite at the King’s Head [Shaun’s stepdad Phillip gets bitten in the head], couple at the Little Princess [Liz is the Little Princess and David and Dianne are the couple], stagger back here [they imitate zombies to get through a horde of the undead to the Winchester], and bang, back at the bar for shots [they use the pub’s Winchester rifle to shoot the zombies].” Also you have "You're dead" to the kid with the ball. "Next time I see him, he's dead" to the flatmate and " If you want to live like an animal, go live in the shed" to Ed who ends up living in a shed.
here's another 'blink and you'll miss it' (or in that case, don't freeze-frame and you'll miss it) joke I've never seen mentioned: "the place that does all the fish" is the literal name of the restaurant in the yellow pages xD
also I've just noticed on this rewatch that pete tells ed "you wanna live like an animal, go live in the shed!" when he's angry after throwing the record out of the window... this script is tighter than I thought. Hot Fuzz does it more obviously, probably to its own advantage.
17:35 Everybody always calls out how he doesn't notice anything but this is such a good presentation of the stagnation in his life. The exact thing that Liz broke up with him for. Every single day he walks the same path, trips over the same curb, to the same store, making the same choice of drink. He's so set in his routine that he doesn't notice the zombies.
I love when they do that. I notice it in American films sometimes, too. Clearly need to go to London, so I can catch it in future films. That's a business trip, right?! - Des
Now you got the zombie film out of the way, Des can relax and enjoy Hot Fuzz. Same jump cuts but completely different movie. A lot of fun as a parody of other films (no spoilers). Thanks for reacting!
Between them, Pegg, Frost and Serafinowicz have voiced 6 characters in Star Wars projects. As well as Peggs role in The Force Awakens. That said, given the saturated output, who hasn’t worked on a Star Wars project in recent years?
Holy moly. I never until now realized that the crappy teen coworker at Shawn's job is one of the Andys from Hot Fuzz! Might've never made the connection if you hadn't put that little info note up on screen. Fantastic reaction!
He was in the single season of Cameron Crowe's "Roadies" in like 2015/2016 and it was the first time he stood out enough to become recognizable to me. Then I was amazed at all the times I had actually already seen him once I recognized his face.
So, the back story you're missing here is that prior to this movie, they had a TV show called "Spaced" that Edgar Wright directed, and that Simon Pegg and Jessica Hynes, who played Yvonne the Shaun female counterpart, both wrote and starred in as strangers that posed as a couple to get a flat, in kind of a "Three's Company" type thing I guess, but are just flatmates/friends, and he's just a geek that works in a comic book store, and whatever else. Nick Frost hadn't even been an actor when Simon Pegg met him when they worked together as waiters in a restaurant, but they became fast friends, and Simon just thought he was so naturally funny, that they just threw him in the show as Simon's buddy, despite him having no real experience as an actor, so that's how that started. My assumption about the Yvonne character has always been that they just wrote it in to the script as an inside gag for the "Spaced" fans, and probably also just to throw Jessica Hynes a bone as a friend, even though she wasn't really apart of this at all.
Awesome stuff, Richie, thank you for this! I watched "Spaced" well after the fact and kicked myself for missing out for so long. I don't think Des has seen it, so maybe we'll have to do it at some point because I'd love to re-watch. Thanks again! - Greg
There are sooo many references to George Romero's Dead trilogy here... from music cues (Dawn of the Dead '78) to "Were coming to get you Barbara" (Night of the Living Dead '68)... even Ed's reaction to getting bit (similar to a scene in Day of the Dead '85). Btw Edgar Wright sent his final cut to George via DVD before the film was released, to get his blessing... and he absutley loved it. So much so he gave Simon and Nick cameos in his 4th zombie film, Land of the Dead.
I’ve seen confusion from a few American/Canadian reactors, while watching this. The reason ed (Nick Frost) has bald spot is because he was shaving his scrotum so he would naturally scratch himself throughout filming as part of his character. Simon Pegg grabbed the electric razor and took a chunk of his hair with it. Not sure why Nick Frost decided to shave his nuts while Simon Pegg was in the same room. You're partner never laughed at all!
Thanks for watching. I’m not his gf. I was stressed about zombies, so no, I wasn’t going to laugh at everything. And I did laugh. You were probably busy laughing at everything to notice. Glad you like the film! (Also, your not you’re)
But that's the story behind the bald spot.
Is that really the story? Because it’s amazing 😂😂 Thanks for sharing that! Appreciated! - Greg
@@videovillagereactions apparently so. They were drunk and shaving, Simon confirmed in an interview what exactly it was that they were shaving, Simon said 'the next morning they convinced nick frost that he himself suggested shaving his head'.
Ahh skipped the best joke of the movie.... Ghaaaaay!
Wait, which joke??
Love your reactions. But the comic book movies are stupid and my horses deserve to be loved over watching modern no talent trash movies that suck. If you guys want to see some old masterpieces id totally make time to watxh with you. Frist recommendation"the man who shot Liberty Valance" second any Romero zombie film. Love yas see ya next time
Nobody cares about your deep tracks from the 60's
Wait, Shaun of the Dead was a comic book? - Des
@@videovillagereactions No, it's not, this dude is just spouting BS.
@@videovillagereactions shawn of the dead is not a comic book i was talking about previous videos you posted that i skipped because old people dont like comics or video games
@@Tensen01 obviously you didn't read my whole comment
These husband reactors who have already seen the movies reactions are too put on try hard fake laughs
First of all, thanks for watching. Second, not my husband. Third, that's Greg's laugh. - Des
I wish I could say it was a fake laugh or a try hard one, but I was born with that loud cackle, I just love movies. (also, not husband just for the record). But I hear you, I don't mean to overwhelm the reaction.🍻 - Greg
Sure seemed genuine to me. Added to my enjoyment.
@@StomDoth 🍻🍻
@@videovillagereactions I've hated Greg ever since the Johnny Flame debacle but even I thought his laugh was genuine... and rather sexy (like a donkey pleasuring itself on a cheese grater 😉)
