Clothes and sleeping bag can only retain heat, if you’re cold you need to burn calories to warm up: jumping jacks, pushups, hiking….
❄️👍
The Bandicoot looks identical to the Vango Hydra , but costs a £100 more than the Hydra. I guess the price difference is because they’ve labelled the Bandicoot as being “Ultra Light”
It's a very impressive tent Steven. I took mine out for the 1st time on Thursday and managed to put a hole in it . I am still hitting myself on the head with a sledge hammer :(
Ah no way mate! Repairable?
Mine arrives on Monday. I've got a couple of days off work the following week, so might be giving it a test then.
Have fun!

What a well shot video!
Ive been considering this shelter for a through hike of the US Triple Crown. I do believe you helped make my final decision so I thank you. As a Yankee I had some trouble understanding you, and the US Subtitles absolutely butchered your dialogue hilariously. That's alright - I think I got the relative gist. After two views. Cheers mate!
Glad I could help! Shame about the dialogue 🤣🤣🤣
I’ve got plenty winter gear. My most efficient winter sleep system is soulo rl exped downmet9 and my warmest bags are rab alpine pro 800 and rab summit 1100. Snow pegs or deltas for this look. I need to upgrade my clothing tho. I wear stuff to work I shouldn’t to keep warm.
Thanks for sharing!
Not expecting to see mine until April but it looks promising.
Can't believe your xmas tree is up before December 😮
Tree up already! Almost unsubed🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I can't wait to see someone actually using it in moderate wind... Come on, get on with it 😂
How much did it cost?
tree fiddy
£340, plus another £100 to get it into the UK.
@sf808yt if you're in the UK you can get the import tax refunded to you because it's Canada trade deal
@@PHYSIZIST I'll have to look into that. Thanks.
Do you have to set this tent up fly first
Get it out !!
Ah, I get mine next week. ⛺️
You should take that lovely rug as a footprint! 😂
Easton pegs are good, ....to a point. I personally use pegs that wouldn't break in frozen ground. I have used 6" nails before in rock solid frozen ground. Need a hammer as well.
Not much point having a Soulo BL and all the gear if you didn't
It’s a allak and snapped my stakes
❤don't work with children or animals.....or your missus😂 not a chance my wife would sign up to a hill top camp🫣 class vid both👌
Thank you mate!

On my way out the door to do just that
I wouldnt be put off by the concept, but I wouldn't go with the current gear I have. Im just not equipped for this. But overcoming the challenge is part of the excitement for me.
Vivo barefoot boots, Thermarest mat, Atom 50 backpack.
Yes, but I would deploy the guy lines before the poles fail.
I broke all my Pegs and couldn’t do anything
Good man: I enjoy your posts. Down to earth and not constantly promoting trash.
@@thegeordiewildcamper get 9” Eastern pegs. I swear by them. From Valley & Peak.
@@chrishamilton2527 they were Easton 🤣🤣 broke on rocks mate - the video is on TH-cam
@@thegeordiewildcamper use rocks? Or small sticks? Another trick is to tie the lines them around the broken pegs and bury them. In sand I use old carrier bags: fill ‘em with sand, tie the guy lines to the handles and bury the whole bag. Works a treat.
To right I would
Only if I was escaping the nazis or Israelis
Hi Stephen, I have just recently bought a very similar tent, What is the H/H on this tent? My tent is 5000 H/H cost under £50 hopefully a bargain! Hopefully you stay warm in these colder days! Cheers Mark!
I’m not entirely sure anything above 1500hh is fine for me
Some decent tents inthatlot Steven...how did you get on with that stratospire ??? i have got one but i havent got around to using it yet and not sure if i will
It’s a notch in the video buddy. I’ve got a storm video using it in 60mph gusts if you wanna have a browse
@@thegeordiewildcamper Cheers, i will have a look at that thanks . ATB
Hi, interesting video, I use the osprey sack as well, when I remember !! I do find it tends to stick as you push stuff in ? You get the same ? Would love to go lighter !! Cheers from the Bivy
hey mate, it tends to move a bout quite a bit for me but i believe in its quality to keep those key items dry so im a little more forgivign!
Hi It’s the only way to sleep Cheers from the Bivy
Hi and good topic, I certainly don’t talk locations anymore, I think you learn not too with what goes on now, perhaps on a known summit it would not matter, there is too much mess appearing, if you have a map it’s not hard to check locations anyway from views in videos. Cheers from the Bivy
Very true! althought there are some lazy folk about!
Totally agree re OS maps just paid for a years subscription. Wish I hadn’t bothered got the app for bike packing and so far crashed on three different trips even though gpx files all downloaded. Useless. Keep up the good work 👍
You and me both!
Agree with the lads, don’t say the places, like you said finding them is part of the reward, unless it’s an obvious location then fine,if someone asks, which people do, I’ll only tell people in a private message the spot im at if I know they are a responsible camper, interesting talking point, good video mate , atb Mick 👍
You're doing the right thing. Northumberland is still a wild place and long may it continue. If it remains a hard place to get to them it stays preserves for longer. The Lake District still has quiet corners but the core areas are blown out now. Keep doing what you're doing 👍👍👍
Totally agree with your sentiment in terms of having a bit of a clue, but then making an effort yourself via map reserach or better still, going for a hike to 'case the joint'. Respect and taking care of the precious gift that the outdoors provides doesn't seem to feature in some people's vocabulary or mindset.
Couldn't agree more.
Ooh a nice discussion. I myself have in the past given away a couple of locations in Northumberland purely due to naivety when i first started wildcamping. However nowadays i dont like to. Simply because of a, it encourages those who dont follow the LNT policy and b, as someone who works for a large estate in the area knows that they don't want too many campers in areas where they are trying to work the land and look after the livestock and wildlife. Ive been asked to move twice and both times have moved on out of respect for the keepers, shepherds etc. Ive also been asked not to advertise where i am in the national park. It is a bug bear of mine when exact locations are advertised via grid references etc. Probs get some stick for saying that but hey ho 😂. Good topic steven. Interesting to hear others views on it 😊. And as an often solo female wildcamper i genuinely feel safer out in the hills than i do in a city or town. Alot of my wildcamps i dont video for purely selfish reasons 😊
Hello, Possible to know which inner tent do you use inside the pyraomm ?
ive got a couple - the first is the liteway single inner and the other is a 3ful 4season solid inner. be sure to get the smaller size version
Thanks for your help !
Great upload mate and a very important topic. I think COVID really messed up the wild camping committee. You had so many " non camper " trying it for the 1st time and absolutely trashing the places. I think leave no trace includes not highlighting exact locations. Just found the Channel mate. Great presence on camera. New sub from me. Greetings from Ireland ☘️☘️🤙
yea, there are people out there who ruin it for the rest, gotta be care who you name places to, i mean i can read a O/S maps, so i can follow the clues and from what i see too. i do enjoy "finding the treasure".
I could share my spots for like minded hikers/campers. People who share the principles of leave no trace and peace and quiet. But you never know these days.
Hi Fellow Geordie's, great vlog. I agree that there are some irresponsible people who care not about their environment but I think on the whole I would like to think that the vast majority of campers do LNT ( Leave no trace) and are responsible when camping. I would love to get out on a wild/stealth camp but I do not drive and being disabled I am reliant on kind friends giving me a lift. It is two years since I've been camping now and I miss the freedom and peace that camping gives you. At 68 people may say I'm too old to go camping now- My mobility isn't good and I have a pacemaker, but I'm sure there are places that don't tax the body that I could go and spend a relaxing time with like minded people. If any of you guys live in the Wallsend area and could offer a lift I would be very appreciative. I would be prepared to share costs.
I'm a Dartmoor camper so many people know where you are, but, if I go elsewhere, not a chance would I share. I also have a camper van and I wince when I see the muppets with fires and leaving rubbish. i think it's this throw away and entitled society in which we live and I really don't know how to solve it. It's sad
i hold my hand up i used to give the odd location (probably over enthusiastic) when i first started wild camping it was like a secret society.social media has opened the floodgates to a small minority of disrespectful so called wild Campers 😏 finding our own location's is a big part of the adventure for me ⛺👍 I'll try keep my big mouth shut in future 🥴
Definitely approve of gatekeeping. I don't even like to tell friends where I am when I am out. It's about seclusion. Great video and well done on the education.
Love that!
Thought provoking and entertaining video, well done 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
