Your budget gear fail video hooked me, your insight and the incredible landscape reeled me in. Glad to see new videos and you still doing this. It’s amazing how relatively little has changed In technology for tents in 40+ years. Thanks for showing us a little bit of your history. Cheers!
Fantastic, that the tent was actually made in Northumberland and it’s 40 years old and still looking good. And it definitely ‘tea’ for me- not dinner 😄👍
The factory unit where they made the tents is still there on the Willowburn Trading Estate in Alnwick (behind the old Hardys Store) - half a mile from my house. Next door neighbour worked there as a machinist - ya never know she might have made that one! ATB Dave
Great video... different content and much appreciated 👍 I've had a number of Phoenix tents back in the day. Phlighter Phor 3, Phreebooter, Phreeranger and another I can't remember the name of! Fantastic tents, if they were to be made with today's materials they would still hold their own! As an aside, the Phreeranger is in fact being made by Trekkertent in Scotland I think. Thanks again for posting, cheers Alistair 👍
Love the look of that tent i was 13 when it was made it's definitely aged well got a Hilleberg look to it do you know how much it cost back in the day nice video mate atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
i used to have a phoenix coat back in the 80s different to everyone else wearing burglarhouse .loved it wonder if it was made in Northumberland ? the tent looks in good nick 👌
Yes they had a few tents all prefixed Ph - Phlighter ,Phreedome, Phantom etc. It's a pity that they aren't around anymore. The Phreerunner gore tex tent was excellent. I 'm surprised that no one makes something similar today.
@@thegeordiewildcamper Yeah I know about Trekker tent. It was the Goretex version I was referring to. I think the material was called Gore tex Nexus. I've had a few solo tents over the years and it was easily the best.
@@calumbark7073still got my Phreerunner but the bottom corners let rain in. As you say, awesome design, great in strong wind. Such a shame there's no modern version in goretex( or similar).

What a brilliant tent , so jealous 😅. Whats the flysheet made of ? Is it silnylon or like a polycotton or something
It looks like some form of nylon maybe. Either way it’s mint!
Looks a great tent! Bargain for £25😊
What is the foil mat you have? I know you’ve said in other videos but I can’t remember
It’s a wildskye gear - check them out on enay
