Foxhole War 119 - LTD + Tank Clips
A collection of assorted tank clips from my first Foxhole War. Made a lot of mistakes, but learned quite a bit.
Mostly LTD/Pelekys with some Spatha and Nemesis in there, largely avoiding typical tank-line stuff.

Malogos Rant #8 - Avoiding 3 More Months of Star Citizen Winter
มุมมอง 2.3K6 ปีที่แล้ว
Combat in SC is dead after 6 months of 3.0 and 3.1, and the community has been decimated. 3.2 can easily reverse the trend, but CIG has to focus on fixing existing gameplay loops like combat and that starts with IFCS/ESP and AC. starcitizendb.com SC4: discord.gg/E33hjpg

Malogos Rant #6: AC/combat in 3.0
มุมมอง 1.5K7 ปีที่แล้ว
Due to the poor framerate and netcode, combat in the PU is basically impossible. So talking about combat in SC all comes backs to AC. This video just goes over a handful of the issues we're dealing with atm. Some quick fixes: 1. Allow multiple items to be rented again 2. Reduce TTK by re-tuning armor (especially around energy dmg), reducing shield regen, and fixing PIPs 3. Increase rotational a...

Played this game for a few hours, never went back to it, had fun but logistics was a quiet waste of an hour or two
Yo, I watched a noobifier video from like 5 years ago and I think you may have a significant indirect influence on how I fly nowadays
Is there any chance that you return to tell us what you think about SC now or in the future? I mean 4 years have passed and most of your criticism in this video is still valid, but I'd love to see if anything changed from your perspective.
I haven't played in years. Playing daily became increasingly frustrating and painful. Maybe I'll peek in after this next patch.
Its time to post some new content. Unless you have given up on SC, 3.14 has new combat stats and gameplay.
2 years later things have only got worse, let that sink in
1 year and a half later combat has became even worse lul
12 months later, shit still smells the same
I'm scared of the game ending up being a carebear themepark. It should be focused on an EvE-style challenge. If they chose to go the ED route, they will die like ED. Leave the exploration to No Mans Sky. Make it a possibility in SC, but not a focus. Let's hope 3.5 changes things. Good video Malagos.
Brother your denial that SC is being designed as a p2w Mirco transaction hellscape is troubling. Ya need to step back from your emotional attachment from the game and take a hard critical look. Ya think a company finds out there community is willing to pay ungodly amounts of money for a leg up or short cuts in there game they aren’t gunna design there game to cater to that audience and and maximize profits? People don’t donate money to sc. they buy advantages. Think anyone is gunna drop 27k just because they wanna support the game with nothing attached to it? The path the community has paved by the means of funding this game have sealed its fate. It’s gunna be a game that gets you financially and thus emotionally invested in it and this company WILL exploit this now and certainly after a official launch. You will always have the option to buy those incredibly priced ships and if you try to get it in game they will certainly put a insanely crazy grind wall. Welcome to SC 2018 and beyond.
You are usually always right and I hope, you stick with us to address those problems to make dogfights a skill based part of the game....not scaring all people away and actually make it easy to enter, but difficult to master. And I hope they can really somehow make controls at least fun for everyone. I made that whole transition to HOMAS, although I wannabe the guy playing solely with HOTAS or dual sticks and I basically somehow want to get completely rid of the gimbals or make them...whatever...autoaim in the last resort and make fixed weapons the choice for real dogfight pilots....rediculous...but I still feel that way. The only long lasting learning curve is about fixed weapon and then maneuvering as the superior skill. I am coming from a IL2 and I still think it is the best way to get it fixed. I dont know otherwise and have to rely somehow on decent and honest people no only want their personal best for dogfight, but the best approach in general and I think, that some of you are those and some of you high skilled players arent. I did a huge amount of forums back in the day (recently since 1 1/2 not as I dont have the time) and usually could agree on most of the stuff. I think, it was a good idea to step back a little, just appreciate the PU in exploring and left the combat a little bit behind, although that is the ultimate thing I will return to. Dont lose your faith...once the combat gameplay is also coming for real to the PU and we can finally see how it turns out in a large scale they imagine, we should start hammering on them. As I usually said in the forum over and over: Noone is really really bothering about balancing, fixing dogfight or that stuff. We need to grab them later, if it is garbage and a garbage feature of the main PU....wether it is performance crap or in general the mechanics or HUD visuals, etc. I think, they at least have reached a point, where the flexibility to change it towards our wishes is there. So at least that makes me sleep at night, when I think about SC. :)
Well said.
Honestly, I think they should revert the flight back to how it was in 2.6.3.
That is actually impossible at this point not with how systems will affect flight and the like.
One of the biggest thing that has been decimated with recent updates have been the game play loops many of us have been playing for years, AC / SM and Even the PU had a fairly decent combat community that would jump on every night and do battle. Now beyond the rudimentary trading we have in the PU, SM/ AC and the PU feel empty and lifeless. It quite interesting the i say that, YES content keeps coming out and NO one will say CIG haven't made progress, but to quote CR's words "we are looking going back and working on the base game play" features that have not been completed. Get the basics right before rolling out more and more half baked features.
Kidding me? AC has been broken/glitchy since the first release, and it only got worse over time.
People should stop playing. I stopped trying to play a long time ago. The problem is that they're releasing these features on a drip-feed, people consume them and get bored, then wait for the next thing. If they just waited until the game was built properly with finalized features, they'd enjoy it a lot more.
I think people are overstating the importance of combat in sc. This is going to be largely an industry game. For a couple reasons. Exploration was the number 1 thing most people want in a.c. that's why so much hype is around the 's carrack. 2 perma death is a thing so more people are going to be reluctant to PvP. When risking instant perma death. Also a.c. isn't dead most of the people are on oh. Just more to do and PvP has purpose unlike a.c. and sm
While my in-game allegiance and goals differ significantly from that you - I have a lot of respect for you folks; it's nice to see competitive PvP focused folks who value maturity and professionalism; it is inspirational and a positive example for the SC community imo. o7
I can definitely understand what you mean, and share the concern - the SC community has never been as dead as it has been since 3.0 and I do think that much of that is due to CIG's neglect of the combat balance and systems (as well as low frame-rate issues), combined with much of the anti-PvP mindset that exists in the SC community atm. So many folks that act irrationally terrified of PvP, even though PvP was what kept much of the game community alive and active prior to 3.0 and it's issues with combat balance. I don't fear that CIG will not make SC good eventually, but I do fear that if they do not address certain critical issues - even more folks will become disgruntled with the game and / or give up; which I don't think many would want that.
The game is doomed for combat. It has been for over two and half years. It can’t be fixed. The SINGULAR guy that created how everything operates doesn’t work on it anymore. We got a junior programmer cast off from ED instead. It can only be RESOLVED by one person & it simply will never happen.
Until there are more combat pilots than carebears CIG will never change. Its always about money, and appealing to the broadest audience possible. SC has always been pay to win. SC requires a top end PC to even play/test(lol) the tech demo. Anything and everything is always subject to change, like selling the hurricane as a heavy glass cannon, now its only good for shooting cap ships? Bait and Switch. Turrets are garbage. Concepts that jump the pipeline to justify this BS direction they are taking. The 27,000 dollar package. 15-20 FPS for the average user. Pointless aUEC grinding, to buy what exactly? Guns to shoot players that say PvP is griefing? Crap meta, its been mono pips for 3 years. And finally, a toxic community, enabled by CIG, and the banning of players off the forums for bringing this into the light and not falling in line with the shit narrative. Yea Malogos, people have quit. This is bullshit. Oh, and they wont refund me =) Not one fucking playable gametype. Pathetic..media0.giphy.com/media/RL0xU1daTlMoE/giphy.gif
Yeah, I agree. I love seeing these new features online, but it seems meaningless without having the core of the game, combat, working. Also 100% feature complete. service beacons don't seem feature complete, a lot of the PU missions still have a lot of bugs and not feature complete. All that would be fine... if there was combat, either player vs AI, or Player vs Player. It was amazing in 2.6 and prior to get a squad together and either go hunting, or challenge other various people in PU. It was player Content, and though netcode, and other various issues made it hard to stomach sometimes.. it was fun and doable. Now it just seems like a large mess. TL:DR fix the core mechanics of combat please. Player driven content from combat.
What kind of fucking moron would thumbs down this video? Truer words have never been spoken...
Upwards of a dozen players! Really pushing the boundaries of MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER! Stop saving PC gaming so hard!
do you feel optimistic about gimbal mouse having a competitive future at all?
flight of combat lol that is all you care about. most people are now in the PU. But hey after 2.6 is sucked the fm. before that i would say it is beter.
Store Citizen *is* a scam. The progress is glacial at best, and Chris has been promising things he doesn't know how to achieve, and is steadily proving he's utterly incapable of achieving -- but still taking money, going to Monaco, driving limited edition Porsches.
Templar was right about Star Citizen. Oh wait, that was Derek Smart.
who is templar even?
the myth and legend himself
Flying and combat in this game has been shit since the start. I remember when AC launched in 2014, people commented on the same combat core design problems that still exists now. CIG has no idea wtf they are doing with combat or flight mechanics, you'l see in the end. Refund Squadron over and out.
combat was fun for a while, sure some bugs existed, and some fine tuning was needed, but now its just not even playable or fun.
Speak up man.
(ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻ ESP!!
Might be due to people playing mainly in the PU now. Once they bring in ground AI you probably will see even less in the FPS/Dogfight mod. Also do not think anything is "dead" people have moved on to things better than FPS module. They've become pirates in the PU, they've become protectors in the PU they have moved on to deeper things than simple PEW PEW reset, Pew pew again. Where you can setup beacons now as a player has added a mechanic that others are enjoying, with the drug lab and SPK they do FPS and Dog fights in these and of course helping each other in the PU with rescues rather than in the limited FPS/Dog fight only modules they've taken to a richer option for now.
I have to disagree with that. Once combat is fixed you will see a lot of the competitive players flood back. at the end of the day AI give 0 challenge.
Appreciate you taking the time to express your opinions about the state of Star Citizen! I definitely don't see eye to eye with you on every point but I think it is important we share our thoughts about the game with each other and CIG as long as it opens up a positive dialog, which I feel like your video does.
Star Citizen sucks
listen to how unhinged the bootlickers are. They have a bag so they resort to racists slurs personal attacks it's all very telling lol Bootlicker shill we're laughing at you
Why are you talking to yourself.
If you are going to make a 20min video. At least take the time to fix you mic.
Please stop fumbling around with your microphone it's super distracting and annoying.
100% agree with you that combat will be the main gameplay of Star Citizen. The biggest end game content I can see are orgs fighting over territory but for that to happen players do have to be able to influence some to a degree. The people who keep saying they don’t want large orgs to have an lasting impact don’t realize that is what will keep the game alive. Though I do lose this question: Supposedly orgs will be fighting over resources which are forms of money in the game. But why should orgs care about having the most money to begin with? Do they need it for operating costs? What will they actually be doing with the money for players to care to acquire more, especially when someone’s already gotten all the ships, gear, reputation, etc they’ll ever want? These are huge important questions that need to be answered. One last thing Malogos, you should put background music in these videos. Helps to fill the silence when you stop speaking and makes the video easier to listen to.
I used to stream SC PU PvP (griefing/piracy or whatever the carebears call it these days) on twitch pretty much everyday and I would love to again. Looked today and there was literally 3 live streams, one of those was the radio station to :\. Sad to see our once thriving community not playing/testing the game right now. Nice vid o7
It still is a very small group that can afford to get anything above 30 fps. Add that to the changes that are crapping combat (the only activity that is more rewarding) and.. well, we have to wait next 3.x. :(
Hoping that the SC flight model gets a revamp so i can watch your stream for some SC PvP :) AC revival sounds great too
Yea man will be right on it when its all sorted, I should get to work uploading some videos tbh, tons of footage saved since 2.5
Nobody needs to pay real money for anything beyond the base game package, for as low as USD$45 currently. There are no monthly costs involved at all. With that base game package, you can play in the persistent universe as much as you want. Once the game is released, you will only be able to buy ships with in-game currency, and you'll be able to buy each and every ship in the game (as long as it is player-flyable at all... some alien ships require modifications to accommodate humans, like the Glaive). Also, how would bad flight combat mechanics affect Star Marine's play numbers? Are you sure you're not mistaking low player counts in AC & SM with interest in playing the PTU where CiG is obviously looking for the most help with testing?
Jon Weir no way will SC take away buying ships with cash after release. You’re blind AF if you think that.
yeah, i won't refund the entire game because they will come out with it eventually, but i'm just tired and frustrated and will try and seek refunds for the majority of my ships. they can't even get basic flight combat down. i'm sure it's not easy but not too long ago there were two people who were working on flight mechanics who publicly said, on one of the CIG youtube shows, they don't like doing it. it definitely shows.
Molexer good luck getting that refund now :(
too late. Should of refunded 2 years ago. Only the stupid money is left in and its not going anywhere.
For 4 hrs a day, every day, competitive combat, a lot of friends and fun... #DEAD
I've said it before but people get really mad. CIG hasn't shown they know how to make a fun game, just a pretty one - and there are plenty of games like. Battlefront being the most egregious example.
Thanks for posting.
Superfluous, unintuitive doesn't even begin to describe the level of idiocy that is Star Citizens UI. I agree with everything you've mentioned here. I attempted to type out a thick bitch and moan piece but you've covered it so well, I thank you. Sub'd
Great to see constructive criticism of the issues. A lot of these issues seem to be brushed over that really effects the player experience. Particularly the use of ship cockpit visibility as a balancing tool I feel.
1- Hud: Really can''t wait if it is planned to see you pull stuff from MFD's to the HUD 2-Hud Color: Really wish you could edit HUD color to your desired color. I know Space-moose, throwing him under, is color blind to some colors and blends in really bad with others. So changing it to a desired color would be amazing for both "cool" factor and for those that might be impaired. 3-G forces and AB: balancing on these two things and making sure they both are of = value is important. 4- IFCS: we know the issues 5- ship weapon balance: we know the issues again. I wont be joining this tournament, 3rd place last year in the 2v2's was fun, Tor and Lundy knocked Moose and I out, and we loved every minute of that competition, but with all the issues we have now.. I just can't. Nice video a lot more could be talked about and rants for things we need to make combat and SC amazing as far as game balancing and certain mechanics should be worked.
Agreed on the UI suggestions. I *think* the mouse shake was introduced to balance mouse-users, who have a clear advantage with gimbaled weapons, to joystick users.
very good summary of a lot of issues. the Radar is also something very useless in its current form. It just tells you that there are ships around. The targeted ship has no higlight anymore, no pinned targets. I miss the old versions where it was easy possible to locate enemies without following the arrow
weapons get missing at the ship customizer: robertsspaceindustries.com/community/issue-council/star-citizen-alpha-3/STARC-58005-AC_ship_customizer_weapons_items_get_unavailable_in_current_session_by_unequipping
I wonder how much of the ship UI is in like a half-way stage because they are waiting for resources or tech to make it as they really want, I suspect often its the case that they know about the shortcomings but haven't had either the time or tech to make it as they want. Clearly also some things are also just bad decisions, where something that might seem or look cool hasn't had that much thought when it comes to actual gameplay. Constructive feedback like this video though is invaluable I think, well done.
The UI is a discussion topic since day one when the screen actually showed more graphics than space without providing proportionally more information. It is basically in a half way stage ever since without any significant progress. Even if it was owed to waiting for tech implementation the lack of any prototype showing the thought or intent behind it is disturbing. There was enough time to come up with something that would show at least a sensible concept even if only as a mockup or a half functional prototype. But everything we have seen so far is aimless fiddling with graphics. CIG seems to try to find ways to fill as many MFDs as possible instead of making one single screen that actually servers a useful purpose for the most basic functions. There were space games which achieved this 10 years ago even though they might not have been so pretty....
Thx for making this video. you point out what is actualy wrong with the game. CIG will ajust, we just have to tell them.
