    Is it really always the way we relate to life? Your advice is very easy if I'm a wealthy mam with few problems. It seems uncompassionate to tell a single immigrant mother with 4 kids that she just needs to relate to her stress better. There are widespread systemic issues in our culture that cause stress. Throwing it all on the individual seems to be lacking something. I'll tell you what I think it is, try it out: we are dealing with stress/anxiety/depression as some outside, different than us. This disidentification from our emotions, this seperation and creation of duality is what feeds and sustains the problems. We can create artifical space, artificially calm ourselves but as long as this seperation exists of me and my stress, me and my overwhelm the root is still there. It's not really my individual stress; human beings all over the planet feel the same thing. How can we really know what created our stress, isn't much of that unconcious generally without a lot of work?

      Hello Mark, I appreciate and agree with a lot of what you say especially about separation. We are out of touch with our bodies, emotions, the environment and others. As to your comment about the single mother with kids. In the video I differentiate between the pain and difficulty of life and every day stressors, like a traffic jam or a difficult person in line at the grocery store. Viewing this from an eastern psychology we would say there is certainly the pain or unsatisfactory nature of life. The suffering is what we add to the already painful, unsatisfactory experiences. Wanting the things we can't change to be different. I've traveled and worked in developing counties and been with people that live in the most challenging conditions, and yet they are some of the happiest people I've met. How we relate to our pain and difficulties definitely makes a difference. Thanks again for the comment.

      @naturalbodhiwellness8960 Mcmindfulness by Purser could really shed some light on this conversation. I believe mindfulness like this is a misuse of eastern philosophy. I mentioned a real scenario in this country, a struggling mom possibly threatened by deportation. An example of stress from an outside source. You countered with a totally unrelated scenario. It's hard to discuss like that.

    Is anxiety something different than me, something external which I can control?

    • @naturalbodhiwellness8960
      @naturalbodhiwellness8960 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Anxiety is not who you are, it's a reaction to something happening within you or in the environment around you. If there is something external that you are reacting to and you can change it, then it is possible to reduce the anxiety associated with that thing. Hope that's helpful.

    • @mark43oiu2o3iu4
      @mark43oiu2o3iu4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @naturalbodhiwellness8960 what is anxiety if not expressed in a human? It is some outside entity, are you sure? The fact is that I'm anxious when there is anxiety. I am that, as surely fact. If I say it it is different than me (nonfact), it is only thought putting together a duality that creates some temporary, illusory division. This conflict is anxiety itself. It is a turning away from ourselves towards the idea of the better, which is how we humans all over live today. It doesn't seem to ever bring lasting change, even if we are able to pacify ourselves to some minute degree.

    is it helpful in shutdown response also?

    • @naturalbodhiwellness8960
      @naturalbodhiwellness8960 ปีที่แล้ว

      Without knowing why your system is shut down, it’s a bit challenging to answer the question. But in general with shut down, we want to bring some mobility into the system like movements of joints, and/or yoga, stretching. If I were going to use this containment exercise for shut down, I would use it in a way of giving myself a compassionate, supportive, hug, and feeling what it’s like to be supported in my challenges and how I feel. You also might be very curious about what’s underneath the shut down. It could be some fear or unprocessed emotions. Try to befriend the feeling of shut down and be curious. Hope this is helpful. Be safe and well.

    • @ruudschulten
      @ruudschulten ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorrow is a very painful and consistent feeling dear Brother. There will be a good reason for being there. Don't try to get rid of it. Try to learn to radical accept it, by acknowledging your sorrow and Talk with it it may be there. That's bot a Moments work nur a hard Job to do mentally, so you habe to learn perhaps weeks or even months to esse your mind and creatieve accepting thoughts about your sorrow and the reasons. Perhaps it desires thougts of forgiveness also. Did you manage that then try the pendulation. You can try to do it at the same time but as long your head das or whispers I want to get rid of it the Method will fail. Alas the common 'head' rule we 'westerners' learned from our childhood is:resistance . And Freud learned and the eastern psychology learns: resistance will double your pain.

      Chronic sadness can be challenging. Certainly one needs acceptance and patients. But sometimes it's important to have a compassionate witness to give support. Sadness can be tricky because sadness can manifest in different ways. When sadness seems to be chronic it may actually be overwhelm. Overwhelm is like an anxious sadness that arises when we don't have the capacity to be with difficult experiences or feelings. It can be a kind of disconnection from life and feelings. If we experience sadness all the time we may want to look at what might be under sadness, like true grief or anger. It may also be helpful to be curious about the sadness and whats under it. What's it want? What's it conveying? What's it's intention? You are listening to the feelings, not asking these questions in an intellectual way. Most of all be kind and gentle and hold your feelings with compassion. Hope this is helpful.
