    How do you like the ram boxes? If you could, would you do a regular bed with a decked system or you’re happy with your setup?

    • @redbeastadventures
      @redbeastadventures 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Great question. Short answer is I like my Ramboxes and would use it over the standard bed. Continue reading for the long winded multipart answer. So, with Ramboxes, rack choices are way more limited for RTT, etc. I found a great company Dethloff Mfg that makes a nice Contour rack that will work with the RamBoxes and will get that in a few weeks. The Decked system is a nice system as well, but it weighs 200 lbs which is not bad but still somewhat heavy taking up payload capacity. I will reorganize my RamBox contents after I get my rack mounted as I will have to temporarily remove the RamBoxes to install the rack. In this case, I will put more frequently used items for camping instead of the current contents like tools, saws, etc in those RamBoxes. I will put tools, saws, etc that I use less frequently in some FrontRunner WolfPack Pro boxes and strap them in the bed. I will also continue to use a lockable bed cover that is somewhat water and dust resistant. I carry the fridge in the rear seat cargo area on the passenger side and have created a tie down system to hold that in place. I can also later (if wanted) mount the fridge on a slide in the truck bed area instead. Once I get the rack and other stuff mounted, check back with me again and ask the question once more. I will need to reorganize and use it camping to give you a better definite answer. I will be posting videos of the rack install, RTT setup, etc over the next several weeks...

    I put 35" 12 Ply on 20" wheels at Wheel & Tire Connection yesterday. 2024 Power Wagon. Now my tire pressure system is saying I need service. Front left driver's side. They said I had to drive it for 15 minutes over 15 miles an hour to reset. I can't believe I fell for that. I had driven that an more. I called after doing it again. They said well its a Dodge and we reset it or can put in a new sensor but it won't be OEM. $3,500 later, I had to take it to Dodge. I feel taken advantage of.

      Sorry to hear about your issues. I didn't have any issues with mine. They reused the existing sensors from the factory wheels and put them in my new Method wheels along with the 37s. When I rotated the tires last month, I had to drive it for around 5 minutes for the new tire pressures to show as I run lower pressure in the rear tires. However that is the same with a previous 2019 RAM 1500 Rebel I had before this truck.

    The actual size of a 35” tire is 34”. The actual size of a 37” tire is 35”. These larger tires cause a lot of additional wear on the drive train. I have a 2019 PW. I don’t care about cool looks, I care about performance. The factory 33” tires will tackle 98% of obstacles I may encounter. I do put on a set of 35’s if I go to Moab, but that’s it. Ram engineers spent millions engineering this truck. The 33’s are on there for a reason. Did the local tire shop spend millions engineering the effects of these tires on this truck? So many people foolishly think the Power Wagon needs larger tires, but it’s their ego that needs larger tires.

    • @redbeastadventures
      @redbeastadventures 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for watching. The Toyo Open Country RT Trail 37x12.5x17 that I have measure out at 35.5” loaded tire height. I like the extra ground clearance for offroading with the 37s. I was already planning on installing the Thuren kit after the 37s were installed. The Thuren kit seems very well engineered to me and rides better than the factory in my opinion. I have had other lift kits on other trucks before and they made the truck ride worse and were mainly for looks. This isn’t the case with the Thuren kit. I believe Thuren did spend quite a bit of time tuning and testing the suspension for these trucks and it shows. 33s on the PW are a good way to go as well, but I love the 37s for performance not ego. BTW, the 37s don’t rub at all during full flex and full steering lock with my setup. I did replace both of the factory track bars with the Thuren versions already as those seem to wear out quickly from what I hear. I will be closely monitoring the ball joints and other components and replace those when required (probably with the Carli version ball joints). I am definitely offroading the Red Beast and having fun. I will let you know if the larger tires have caused any wear issues as I will be stress testing the truck heavily. 😀 If interested check out the Adventure video playlist.

      @redbeastadventures 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for watching and thank you for your service. I use the cameras quite a bit. The forward facing camera is great to have as it is difficult to see over the new “sport” hood while offroading. The surround camera also helps me parallel park the big beast easier. Also, you can see rocks and obstacles on the sides of the truck while offroading. Definitely a worth while addition to a PW.

  • @patriot5526
    @patriot5526 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Quick note: 35” tires are actually only 1” taller than 33” tires. There’s really not a huge enough increase in capability to justify the expense and the additional wear and tear on the drive train.

    • @redbeastadventures
      @redbeastadventures 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for the feedback. In my case, the stock 33 Duratracs were 32.13” loaded height and my 37s measure out at 35.5” (3.37” taller, 1.7” extra ground clearance). I have no rub with my setup at full steering lock and full articulation (I actually have even more articulation than the factory with the Thuren suspension but the bump stops are the same). Actually working on getting the truck setup to run 38s. I will need additional clearance at the front bumper and inner fenders to make that happen with no rub. Where I plan on offroading extra ground clearance definitely helps. :)

    Great video. I don’t see any obstacle that you went over that the stock 33” tires couldn’t have handled. I run my PW through mountain trails here in Montana with stock tires without any issues. @@user-ij9jo7no9g TRX is definitely a nice truck. However, it doesn’t have solid front axles with front lockers and a disconnecting sway bar like the PW. Plus the PW has some seriously heavy duty axles and hardware. The TRX isn’t as well suited for crawling over rocks as the PW because of the differences in the front axle. I don’t plan on any high speed jumps for my usage so the PW was a better fit for me.

    Great add on for protection. White Knuckle is the best for sliders. Have you looked into the Dethloff mfg. front steel skidplate for your tranny and oil pan? I just got mine on and it is great peace of mind to know the this weak spot on the PW is now covered.

    I was looking into going for some 17x9 or 17x10's with +0 offset and some 37's. Do you think they would rub? I don't think they'd rub on the sway bar, but what're your thoughts about the fenders?

    • @redbeastadventures
      @redbeastadventures 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Definitely shouldn't rub on the sway bar, but probably will rub on the inner fenders. The +18mm 17x9 wheels put the tires in that sweet spot where they don't rub on the sway bar but don't stick out so far as to rub the inner fenders as much. If you used 17x10 with 0 offset you will most likely be cutting on the fenders to fit 37s with no rubbing. CJC Offroad (844) 252-6373 based out of CA know a lot about this topic. They recommended the 17x9 +18 wheels for my application.

      Love the Thuren/Carli suspension I have on there. I have more wheel travel (8" to 9.5" in the front and 9" to 11" in the rear) which all adds up to more articulation. The 37s absolutely do not rub at all at full flex and full steering lock with my configuration and it rides better than it did from the factory. 6:20 is probably the hardest obstacle. Have a good spotter. The GX in this video is one of the 2017+ model years with a low hanging front bumper with a poor (21⁰, I think) approach angle. If you have one older than that (or an aftermarket bumper), it would be way easier.

    The stock wheels looked soo good and had brand new tires on them lol.. now you have tires that rub whenever you flex the truck( which is what a powerwagon is for) and wheels that make your amazing truck look like a cheap work truck model. Man I’ll never understand the craze with these shitty small wheels and 37’s. Get whatever wheel you want and 35’s and be able to flex the powerwagon on fully turning and never rub. Guessing your another guy who is gonna be a mall cruiser power wagon lol..

      Thanks for watching. Check out the other videos on the channel showing some offroading adventures so far. I am definitely wheeling the Red Beast and having a blast. Getting some pinstripes and scrapes (i.e., character marks). It is an absolute offroad monster with these 37s and 17x9 Method Bead Grip wheels. It flexes extremely well with absolutely no rubbing anywhere. Subscribe and follow along as I take the Red Beast down some trails that would make some 4x4 vehicles cringe and wonder if they would get stuck.

    • @SupremeLeaderWPK
      @SupremeLeaderWPK หลายเดือนก่อน

      I went with 35s for just that reason. I wanted absolutely no rubbing issues and you can cram a full size 35 spare in the factory spare location.

    • @redbeastadventures
      @redbeastadventures หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SupremeLeaderWPK Thanks for watching. I hope you are enjoying your PW as much as I am enjoying mine. 35s are a great choice especially with stock suspension (looks proportional). Also, a bonus that a 35” somewhat fits in the spare location. I went with 37s as I knew I was going to use Thuren/Carli suspension and the 37s look good in that scenario. Also, I have zero rubbing at full flex and turning steering full lock, etc. Depends on the wheel and tire combo to have no rubbing with 37s. I did make an adjustment at the inner fender liners (see other videos). I went with a 34” size spare as I carry a nice tire repair kit if I get hole in the normal spots. If needed I would put the 34” spare on the front. I will probably eventually get a full size spare and put it in the truck bed, but after I go to 38” tires. Yes, I will probably go bigger. I see exactly where I need to adjust for no rubbing at the inner fender area and this truck with the 8 speed transmission absolutely works great on and off road with 37s. I was originally concerned about power loss with the larger tires, but this truck would absolutely rock 38s without skipping a beat.

      @xGR1MxREAPERx หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@redbeastadventures no offense but 50 other people with the same exact suspension (as 90% of people all have this same suspension lol) rub like crazy when going full flex. You are doing some light off-roading, you are not full flexing your truck which you would rub. Either way, atleast your in the woods with your truck and not a mall princess, I apologize for saying you wouldn’t use it as a truck. Good on you 👍🏻

    • @redbeastadventures
      @redbeastadventures หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@xGR1MxREAPERx No worries. I appreciate the comments and for watching the videos. I am not sure how much more I can flex it. I have went thru some pretty decent size ditches where several 4x4s were lifting their wheels and the Red Beast flexed beautifully without any rubbing. Not sure if maybe I am just lucky or something has changed with the 2024 version or my tire and wheel combo are just the correct sizing and offset. At any rate, I am having a great time offroading the Red Beast. Check out this video link in the beginning where I flex the truck pretty good. I may have to find some bigger ditches but I can't get it to rub anywhere lol. th-cam.com/video/fN_fgR_giw8/w-d-xo.html
