  • Installed the Thuren/Carli suspension components on the 2024 Ram Power Wagon. For the front, I have Thuren 1-1/2” front coils, Thuren front track bar, Thuren/Fox 2.0 IFP shocks and a Fox 2.0 IFP steering stabilizer. For the rear, Carli R2 coils, longer Carli sway bar end links, Thuren/Fox 2.0 IFP shocks and a Thuren rear track bar. Did a quick 15 mile road test and it rode and handled great. Will be taking it off road soon to test it out.

Awesome. Congrats on your upcoming Power Wagon. Thanks for watching. This PW is an absolute offroad beast. Just point it at the obstacle and go.

What made you choose this setup, instead of just going with a Carli commuter kit? Not knocking it, just curious. I’ve been thinking about doing the piece together method for a good while too (to save money). I don’t like the Thurren rear spring options, so I definitely agree with the +2 Carli springs. I’ll be following to see how you like it. 👍🏻

I certainly thought about the Carli kit as it is definitely a high quality kit. It doesn't include the rear track bar which I definitely wanted. When adding the Thuren rear track bar kit to the Carli kit, the cost difference between my setup and that setup was around $1600 more. The Carli R2 rear coils are great so far. It rides slightly higher in the back vs other options. I am definitely okay with this as I like a more rear to front height difference especially as you add more weight in the truck bed. Also, I was not a big fan of adding the radius arm drop brackets to the suspension. I am sure they serve a good purpose but also cause that part of the truck to have less ground clearance (although not sure how much difference it would make on the trails). Speaking with CJC, the Thuren system didn't require that drop bracket because it didn't lift the front as much as the Thuren 1-1/2" coils. By having the drop bracket, I believe the drive shaft also sits more at an angle and requires a spacer to lower the skid plate in that area. The overall suspension wheel travel is the same with both setups. The front increases from 8" to 9.5" and from 9" to 11" in the rear. So far after driving a few more miles, the suspension setup rides fantastic on the road. I am looking forward to seeing how it does off road and hopefully can find some spots to do some serious flexing.

I was thinking you’d probably say that you went with the Thuren front springs to avoid the Radius arm drop brackets. Seems like a solid plan/setup you have. I’m thinking of doing a very similar setup, except with Bilstien 5100 that are 2” taller than stock. I know they won’t be quite as plush as the Foxes, but I can save some more money, and avoid the periodic rebuild that comes with the foxes. Keep the updates coming 👍🏻. Red Power Wagon fist bump 🤜🏻.

@@marvinheadrick3511 Sounds like a great plan. 🤜back to your red PW from the Red Beast. Overall, it took 8 hours to install all of the components with an experienced mechanic using nice lifts and tools plus some alignment rack time.

If I may jump in the convo. I’m very pleased to have come across this video because I am in the same boat and torn between the Carli / Backcountry or doing exactly what you did (but possibly the 2.5 foxes Thuren sells). I already have a Thuren rear track bar uninstalled and for what I need I will also need bumpstops which they sell as well. I think after seeing this I might copy what you did. Only ? I have is did you order through CJC or Thuren?

@@d.bcooper4480 I ordered from CJC Off Road since I used the Carli R2 coils and Carli end bar links. I used the Thuren tuned rear shocks to go with the Carli coils. Everything is working out well together and I get some great flex on the truck. Rides great, as good or better than factory. I just used the Fox 2.0 IFP. Unless you are running at higher speed across whoops or jumping those shocks work pretty well. I am just going slow and crawling over rocks, etc.

AEV Prospecter XL is similar to what you are looking for…. I could put 40s on with my suspension, but would definitely need to cut out the fenders, etc. So, AEV makes a HighMark fender kit along with other parts that facilitates using 40s on the Ram HD trucks. Check out thier website at aev-conversions.com. The main issue for me would be the regearing of the truck axles for the larger 40 tires. I am not sure who makes 5.13 gears or similar for the Power Wagon as I believe they are different than standard RAM HD axles because of the electronic lockers. Also, another good source would be to call CJC Offroad as they have a lot of experience with modifications to these trucks. I am not sure what wheel offset would be best for 40x13.5x17 tires (again CJC Offroad or AEV would probably have information). I have the Method 704HD 17x9 +18mm offset which works great for 37x12.5x17 tires.

I have the Go Rhino Dominator D6 "slider" steps for now. They have been holding up but are getting a little dented on the bottom. I have hit them several times off-roading, but I decided to go with some frame mounted rock sliders from White Knuckle Offroad. Those are on order and I am patiently waiting for delivery. I do have several videos about those rocker panel mounted D6 sliders already on my channel if interested.
