  • Welcome to another Red Beast Adventure to the GOAT Trail (Old Buzzard Roost Rd) in NC where I take my 2024 Ram Power Wagon (aka Red Beast) for some off road fun. Also ran a bonus trail (Hurricane Creek) while I was there as I wasn’t done having fun that day.

The GOAT Trail is probably still the same. However, the Hurricane Creek road/trail just had some major grading from end to end and is no longer the same as before. Just ran it again yesterday and it was a huge difference. Will post a video later showing the before and after sections for Hurricane Creek.

So Hurricane Creek has been graded since you ran it after GOAT?

@@That_Paul_Guy Yes it has. You could almost drive a Toyota Camry down the trail now.

How do you like the ram boxes? If you could, would you do a regular bed with a decked system or you’re happy with your setup?

Great question. Short answer is I like my Ramboxes and would use it over the standard bed. Continue reading for the long winded multipart answer. So, with Ramboxes, rack choices are way more limited for RTT, etc. I found a great company Dethloff Mfg that makes a nice Contour rack that will work with the RamBoxes and will get that in a few weeks. The Decked system is a nice system as well, but it weighs 200 lbs which is not bad but still somewhat heavy taking up payload capacity. I will reorganize my RamBox contents after I get my rack mounted as I will have to temporarily remove the RamBoxes to install the rack. In this case, I will put more frequently used items for camping instead of the current contents like tools, saws, etc in those RamBoxes. I will put tools, saws, etc that I use less frequently in some FrontRunner WolfPack Pro boxes and strap them in the bed. I will also continue to use a lockable bed cover that is somewhat water and dust resistant. I carry the fridge in the rear seat cargo area on the passenger side and have created a tie down system to hold that in place. I can also later (if wanted) mount the fridge on a slide in the truck bed area instead. Once I get the rack and other stuff mounted, check back with me again and ask the question once more. I will need to reorganize and use it camping to give you a better definite answer. I will be posting videos of the rack install, RTT setup, etc over the next several weeks...

@@redbeastadventures Thanks. My next truck will be the Power Wagon. The people with ram boxes seem to really like them. I’ve had a Leer topper on my current 1500 for as long as I’ve had it. The ram boxes definitely limit the topper and rack options. I’m just trying to do some research. I like your channel, there isn’t a lot of Power Wagon content available. Appreciate it.

@@user-yb7fp7is4h Thanks for watching. Like you, I couldn't find much content on TH-cam about the Power Wagon. That is one of the primary reasons I started my TH-cam channel to provide info on building and offroading the PW.
