Lund Alaskan Boat Restoration
มุมมอง 43K9 ปีที่แล้ว
I restored this Lund Alaskan a few years back. This style Lund had the gas tank mounted on the port side. When the boat was in the water it sat lop sided. So, when I restored it I installed a 17 gallon tank below the floor. I also installed a new casting deck and added more flotation as needed. All new wood, new carpet, new hinges, new vinyl and also installed an AM/FM/CD Player and a horn. I a...

    Thank you for posting this. I have a '64 J200 that I'm converting to disc brakes. From the shop manual, it appears that there were a few options for rear axles in these early J trucks. Mine has a Dana 53 - is that what yours is? Also, did you ever decide to sell the brackets you designed? I know this video is from a long time ago, but hey, the truck is old too!

    I can't believe you left the old open cell foam in the boat, even if it looks dry to the eye it is wet inside and it never ever dries no matter what you do. That foam will rot the new floor and if you ever take on more water that you can pump out the boat will sink like a boat anchor.

  • @ultimatemadmaxcar

    You really should Mount that coil vertically as they are oil filled and laying them down on the side like that will cause them to overheat and fail prematurely. They describe that in the instruction manual

    What’s the name of the fuse

  • @chiptom6461
    @chiptom6461 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    FYI - I have been following USDA potato-canning procedures for decades BUT without peeling the potatoes. I have experienced no deleterious results. I looked into this in 2011. My 2011 question - Have USDA test results (or any credible test results) shown that, by following USDA canning guidelines re: canning potatoes, the "destruction of the largest expected number of heat-resistant microorganisms" is ensured REGARDLESS of whether potato skins have or have not been removed? On Apr 21, 2011 I received a response to this question from Elizabeth L. Andress, Ph.D. University of Georgia that no testing had been done on unpeeled potatoes. Unless such tests have been subsequently done, with contrary results, anyone who states that potatoes MUST be peeled, makes such a claim without any evidence to support it.

    A breaker is not a pry tool FYI. Its better to break up the concrete and then peel it all away with a tooth bucket. Doing that leaves galling in the bushing and along the tool section above the scraper seal. It's a good way to end up resealing a breaker twice as often and creating a pathway for contamination into your skid steers hydraulics.

    Nice Job! I am attempting the exact same restoration. I have a question for you: on the bow, when you attached the angled aluminum (ledge for the plywood deck)to the side of the boat, I'm assuming you riveted it to the boat side. as you approach the bow your ledge goes below a rivet Line for the flange on the outside of the boat. this is typically below the water line. did you rivet this as well and did you have any problems with leaking? any key learning's or advice?

    • @outdoorguy5485
      @outdoorguy5485 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rand Woods I didn't rivet the angle aluminum to the outside of the boat. I just anchored it to the lower braces. It provided more then enough support. If you have any other questions my email is aharris@npdodge.com Good luck!
