  • I restored this Lund Alaskan a few years back. This style Lund had the gas tank mounted on the port side. When the boat was in the water it sat lop sided. So, when I restored it I installed a 17 gallon tank below the floor. I also installed a new casting deck and added more flotation as needed. All new wood, new carpet, new hinges, new vinyl and also installed an AM/FM/CD Player and a horn. I am now selling it to buy a bigger boat. I hate to sell it but don't need two.

    thats what i call a great job. i just purchased a 92 18ft Lund in July of this year. i researched every 18ft aluminum boat i came across. i have no regrets at all, ive been out 9 times in the short month ive had it. funny thing is, i sold my 36ft Catalina sailing yacht. After 28 years of sailing and three sailboats, to buy a small power boat was big change. i will gladly admit, the Lund 18 has been everything i hoped for and more. it has a 40hp Suzuki with a 13" pitch prop that i upgraded to a 14"pitch, it now goes 30mph, i gained 4mph. i also added a chart plotter with GPS and an HD depth finder, ac converter and a stereo. i also upgraded the electric panel to a 6 switch/fused. i also put guides on the trailer for single handed launching. im on the northern Chesapeake bay so fishing and crabbing is a lifestyle here. your boat is beautiful, i learned so much from your vid, thank you for documenting all the work you guys did, very good work.

    What a pleasing video. I loved the soothing music and the video editing was perfect. So much better than talking.
    I just bought an 87 Lund Alaskan with an 85 Yamaha. A bit of a fixer upper but nothing like your project. So much you can do with a tin boat.

    I can't believe you left the old open cell foam in the boat, even if it looks dry to the eye it is wet inside and it never ever dries no matter what you do. That foam will rot the new floor and if you ever take on more water that you can pump out the boat will sink like a boat anchor.

    really great job. I'm looking at restoring my little '71 C-14 but not that elaborate. I'm reinforcing the transom by having someone weld a piece of aluminum channel in it, then I'm just going to repaint the outside and put new seats in it. Did you paint yours in a booth? Beautiful paint and decals.

      Paul Cihoski wasnt painted in a booth. Thanks! Good Luck on yours!!

    I need to replace the floor on my 2002 18’ Alaskan. How did you secure the floor back down screws or rivets? And did you use 3/4” thick marine grade plywood? Beautiful job on yours

    • @outdoorguy5485
      @outdoorguy5485  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used stainless steel screws I had ordered in bulk locally thru fastenal (a lot cheaper). Boat had 5/8 plywood I replaced with 3/4. I could not find marine grade so i used a better grade plywood.

    Nice Job! I am attempting the exact same restoration. I have a question for you: on the bow, when you attached the angled aluminum (ledge for the plywood deck)to the side of the boat, I'm assuming you riveted it to the boat side. as you approach the bow your ledge goes below a rivet Line for the flange on the outside of the boat. this is typically below the water line. did you rivet this as well and did you have any problems with leaking? any key learning's or advice?

    • @outdoorguy5485
      @outdoorguy5485  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rand Woods I didn't rivet the angle aluminum to the outside of the boat. I just anchored it to the lower braces. It provided more then enough support. If you have any other questions my email is aharris@npdodge.com Good luck!

    Was the foam waterlogged? Im going to re-vynil the floor and try. And lighten up my 1800.

    Was the original floor pop riveted down? If so ,how did you remove them? I’m lookin at changing the floor in my Lund rebel. It’s riveted,and the outside ones leave little room to drill out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    • @outdoorguy5485
      @outdoorguy5485  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the floor was riveted down. I drilled them out and then used self tapping stainless steel Phillips head screws when replacing it
