    2:52 Stay on task. Prove it is a fuel problem before dicking around with a choke blade. It ran at some point, and that blade won't change that. 3:55 Head gasket? No that is timing. Is this your first time seeing Kohler magnets fall off, or a sheered flywheel key?

    • @CaptFerd
      @CaptFerd วันที่ผ่านมา

      The choke plate was preventing it from starting at all. They bent it to the point of being stuck. Once off it fired up the way it did. (Sputtered and popped). I think you miss next, where I zoomed in on the rocker arm that moved off the top of the Valve. 4:17 That was the sole problem of it not running and answering the question of why it had 150 lbs compression, spark and fuel but still did not run. This is rare but I have seen this happen before with hydraulic lifters. Sorry if the video didn't meet your expectations Ill do better next time. Thanks for watching and sharing your comment.

      The older ones I believe had that raised ridge outline of the gasket. That extra gasket laying there in the video goes to them. You could probly use that same head on this newer style (2012). Same bolt pattern. Im sure they saved money somehow changing it. Great question. Using my old brain cells to answer wish I knew more. Thanks for your support and for watching.

    Thanks for sharing your time and efforts with us. This will be a great reference If I ever have this problem. If the exhaust valve gets over heated due to an overheated engine ; there's a chance that the exhaust valv spring could loose some of its temper and tension and the spring keeper could disconnect from the valve again.If you can afford it ; this might be a good time to replace the spring when you put it back together. There is less chance of this happening with the intake valves .You might also want to put some permanent LockTite red on the outside of the guide for installing. Thanks again for your video.

    Now I can't get the brakes bled. There is always something. new hose, new master cylinder, new pads. bubbles and bleeds for a bit, pump foot pedal, open bleeder, a few bubbles and fluid, repeat process and it stops. I am guessing it must be a bad master cylinder, ordered a new one. Racking my brain of what I could have done wrong.

    • @CaptFerd
      @CaptFerd หลายเดือนก่อน

      Here's a few ways you can try. Fill the cup and open the bleeder and see if it will free flow without pumping (could take a few minutes for this to happen). Keep the cup full and don't let it go dry. After it flows a few seconds tighten the bleeder and see if you have brakes. repeat if not. Another way - you would fill the cup Open the bleeder press the brake slow and easy and before the brake bottoms out close the bleeder without letting off the brake. May have to repeat it a few times. Pumping the system up usually doesn't work well with these. But then you can get bad parts. Good luck

    • @tomcaho54
      @tomcaho54 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CaptFerd We filled the cup, opened the breather and level in the master cylinder always remains the same. As they say, we also closed the breather, pumped the foot brake several times, open the breather, nothing. I have this same 5hp compressor with 60 gal. tank bought from Tractor Supply. After about one year service the contacts on the pressure switch welded together. Tractor Supply had an exact replacement in stock. The new pressure switch states inside that it is intended for 2 hp load. I installed a Square D magnetic starter rated at 7.5 hp. Now I am having issues with blowing capacitors. The main breaker rated at 25 Amp in my power panel trips often. Not sure whether the motor is of poor quality, the capacitors are not adequate or if the unloader feature is failing. Nothing short of a recall would make me want to purchase this type equipment again.

    • @CaptFerd
      @CaptFerd หลายเดือนก่อน

      If its the start capacitor burning up. Once the motor starts the motor should switch it to the run capacitor within seconds. If it doesn't and uses that start capacitor to run it will burn it up. The start capacitor and start winding are de-energized, usually by a centrifugal switch inside the motor. Now that you have bypassed the switch from that capacitor the burning has moved to the capacitor. Im thinking either the windings are bad or the switch is stuck or broken. Back pressure valve could be bad but not to likely knowing the history of these motors. Thanks for your support and let me know if you need further help.

      At 7:11 in the video there is a fuse across the top before it gets to the solenoid. Check it for 24 volts on both sides. It goes back to a master switch and to the batteries. The other side of the fuse 24 volts goes to the top of the solenoid. On the left are 2 circuit breakers check that they are not tripped and working. Glad to help further if this isnt what you were asking about.

      @@Anonymices343 Sounds like its bent out of shape not springing back and locking. In the Honda hrx video ( th-cam.com/video/TTemwVPcHFM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=sUK_E_I5OB0atdai ) they are much the same as far as taking them off to bend it back or replacing it. They are kind of spring loaded.

      @@Anonymices343 I found the pic you posted. I have to admit Ive never seen this setup before. It seems to be a style sold outside the US. I did research it and the diagrams I found for it as well. Have you checked the other side of the roller assembly for loose bolts over there? It looks that if its loose over there it could kick out the adjuster. In this diagram ( www.lsengineers.co.uk/rear-roller-and-heaight-adjuster-assembly-for-honda-hrd535-mem-pro-lawnmower.html ) part #6 adjuster is spring loaded by itself and should take some effort to pull out for adjusting. The pic looks like it could be worn out. I see them on Amazon and ebay for around $10 us.

    Do you have a video of full disassembly? I just got a 271 and I always like to know how to properly tear down and repair all the equipment I own. But I can’t seem to find a full tear down video on the 271 anywhere.

    • @CaptFerd
      @CaptFerd 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry that I disappointed you. This saw like most came to me with a box of parts already removed. I don't have any video of it anymore. Just don't have the space to keep them all. If it helps any at all when working on this model. It's easier to remove the carb and head as one complete assembly rather than taking everything off on the saw individually. I do quite a few carburetor jobs like this as well.
