Beautiful Family! SO PRECIOUS to be together! The cake looked so good! Carrot Cake is my favorite! I’m with you about the nuts. However, I like the raisins in it.

Suzzane, I was thinking about you a couple of days ago when I was at the local thrift store. As my friend was browsing the store I saw three shopping carts full of books for $ .50 each. I rummaged through all the books and found two 1950s Betty Crocker cookbooks. They still had the grandma smell on them if you know what I mean. There was just a certain smell of grandma's kitchen that brought back memories. I also like to find vintage garden books from years ago. They didn't know that they were organic gardeners back then because it was just how everyone gardened. Those garden books are all so detailed and some even have stories about their gardening. I found a book on foraging from that era as well and a natural remedy book. It was quite the hall. The entire stack of books filled with my grandparent's generational wisdom and knowledge came to a whopping $3.21 (4.43 Canadian dollars). They will be a great addition to my library and give me plenty of hours of Winter pleasure. I have a special room in the house that is my own private library with my books and magazines of interest as well as a Chrome book to read my digital books. A goose neck lamp looms over my recliner to give my old eyes plenty of light to relax and read. I'll be heading off to my family in Las Vegas for Thanksgiving this year. It's always a special time to be around family on holidays. I've not been able to celebrate with my family there for many many years due to family responsibilities where I live. I found an affordable plane ticket so, I'll be riding the big iron bird once again. Three hours of flying compared to 23 hours of driving is much better. Our American Thanksgiving is the 4th Thursday in November. I pray that your family gathering was a wonderful one and the carrot cake was a hit. Nebraska Dave Urban Farmer

I wish our Thanksgiving was in October rather than November. It would be so nice to have a bit of space between that and Christmas. Everything looked great! Your husband posing at the end made me laugh! 😂

Even in the States thrift stores are no longer thrifty but are so ridiculously expensive. 😢.

Charity shops are very variable in the uk , it’s always the luck of the draw and there are certain chains of charity shops that are more expensive than others . It is good fun though having a good rummage and always interesting what people give away, the other day I was in one of the charity shops that is in our town and there was a beautiful pair of curtains all lined and interlined with goblet pleating so they would have cost a lot of money to make however I didn’t buy them as I didn’t need them but I’m sure somebody will get a good buy . Love the flower picture it’s beautiful
