I’m doing training runs against bots and squids, and SES Beacon of Gold is sending solo divers against bots to build strategy for mission control. Only two runs so far, but we’ve cut deaths per mission from 5 to 3. Democracy knows no limits.

I like this theory, but I disagree with the idea that the spores develop in human bodies - I think the spore thing is true, but that they simply latch onto us and get brought to other planets via our Helldivers suits and ships, but if they aren't spores and are in fact eggs, there is a real world example I can give; Cicadas lay their eggs not on the ground or in it, but on tree branches, the larvae freshly hatched have to chew through the branch where it falls and then they burrow deep into the soil for several years to mature, so even with a bug that spends 99% of it's life underground, the babies all start on the surface

Maybe the Automatons are synthetic copies of Human minds, perhaps rouge Cyborg Elements that fled their deserved servitude constructed the Automatons or the automated process that would create the Automated legions as a despotic revenge plot. The Automatons are uploaded with copies of the consciousness of the cyborg survivors, maybe soldiers, maybe whatever scientist & engineers the fleeing Cyborgs could take with them. & millions of copies of the same few consciousnesses are what command each & every bot. They may well be inferior/altered replicas of whoever uploaded their consciousness, explaining their lack of fear, with the more heavily armoured units perhaps receiving more complex (& thus expensive) recreations of cyborg minds. I think most of these uploaded brains are very simplistic, not 1-1. The bumbling nature of the troops we meet on the ground & their questionable accuracy despite holding low recoil laser guns in strengthened mechanical limbs, perhaps more complicated (& intelligent) minds are being simulated in their Automaton command bunkers, the range & accuracy of those turrets certainly suggests it. The fact the low level troopers can still operate striders, gunships & even their own fully mechanical bodies certainly raises some interesting questions about how simple different parts of these "brains" are & the line between simulated enemy of freedom & preprogramed machine, but I digress. I think the use of propaganda suggests some stuff about the amount & nature of the cyborgs who uploaded their consciousness. I don't think there are 2 or 3 veteran Cyber-Warlord minds in whatever database the fabricators pull consciousnesses from. But rather a potentially huge amount of non-combatants or conscripts. Maybe each Automaton IS a perfect simulacra of whoever's mind is uploaded into it, & instead their poor individual combat performance comes from the fact that they had little to no combat training before the upload. I.E inside every devastator is the mind of a rouge Cyborg AI technician with an expert understanding of how to copy & upload human minds into robots but a basic grasp on how its own machine gun works. With most of the Cyborg military destroyed by the end of the First Great War this makes alot of sense.

An automaton is like any machine. They only reflect their programmers desires. Any hate they feel is not their own. They preserve not themselves but their masters will. Garbage in and garbage out, and to whence they came, garbage shall they go. Even disconnected from the infinite they will continue to serve. I believe that if such an outage occurred it would allow us to retake a planet without retribution. Perhaps we could disconnect a planet and divert resources when they respond to a disconnection.

With all these technologies, you forget that you don't just deny the planet to the socialist automatons, but you would also deny it the inevitable FREEDOM of Super Earth colonization for hundreds of years. High command is not willing to pay that price, yet. We already lost Meridia and planets to be liberated don't grow on trees!

I've spent more time with this enemy than any other. It's when I'm crawling up on their bases alone when I get to hear things that are normally drowned out by the gunfire of my squad. I hear them speaking to each other... in our language. Old military songs are what stick out. "Left, left, left, right, left." What I also know is that whenever I make it out of that hell, I'm covered in human blood, and not my own. The bioprocessors turn humans into machines. I believe they somehow take the sentience of a human and use it to run those machines, while simultaneously reprogramming the mind with hatred for mankind. I guess that's just speculation, though. What do I know...?
