Can barely hear here in the beginning where she signs in the lower register even with microphone. This is potentially a stunning voice but there is a much bigger sound that she could produce in my opinion. She has beautiful presence and stage appearance but there is more meat to the sound that is missing that would make her voice much more moving. I would like more body to the sound. All the best to her as she obviously has a nice career ahead.

The sound at a basic mf is metallic and wobbly. And she sings the difficult upward scale out of tempo. Aside from a sort of detached pp, I hear nothing much of interest in this voice.

Garanca has a beautiful instrument but should not be singing Eboli. It is obvious she is forcing her voice to sound big.

This is just so stunning, as if this piece were written for her.

I’m new to watching operas so I’ve been going to the cinema screening events. Last May, I saw her perform this at the Met both in the rehearsal and the main performance. When the interviewer asked her about her connection to the role and Asmik replied about how her mother was pregnant with her when she performed the role, I was thinking to myself “this singer must be committed”. Her performance made me cry twice. It was beautiful.
