MY CROHN'S SURGERY: STEP BY STEP WHAT HAPPENED + WHAT I WISH I KNEW
Hey there! Melyssa here. I am a Crohnie in Colorado and this is one of many videos that I hope will create a safe, fun, educational and collaborating environment where those with autoimmune disease or invisible illnesses can come and hang out. It is important to remember that though a hidden illness is tough, we are never alone! So let’s talk about all of that embarrassing stuff TOGETHER
This is just MY experience and am speaking as a patient, not a medical provider. The best person to get medical advice is from your doctor. This video is created with the intention of explaining my Crohn's Disease surgery to provide some awareness of the process and hopefully not make it as intimidating! Please remember that this surgery was apart of my journey, not a necessary step for people with Crohns. I hope that this video provides comfort in knowing you are never alone!

LOW FIBER PALEO Turkey Chili | Perfect for Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis and IBS
มุมมอง 8474 ปีที่แล้ว
Hey all! I have been living for this low fiber turkey chili recipe and I am so excited to share it with you. As someone who has Crohn's, sometimes I get a flare or need to take it easy on my digestive track which is why I go low fiber. Dietary fiber, or "roughage," is the portion of plant-derived food that cannot be completely broken down by human digestive enzymes and it is extra difficult to ...

How to love someone with a CHRONIC ILLNESS
They say you can put a little alcohol water and dawn and water in a spray bottle and the alcohol sanitizes.
I am chronically ill and in a lot of pain.I have to limit what I do in a day.
I absolutely love your authenticity and strength!!!!
I got an ablation in my neck for the nerve damage I had and it was a big fat zero. i knew it would be. i am beyond help. next stop.... spinal cord stimulator. i hope you are feeling alright.
I have serious nerve damage in my neck from C3 thru C7, i had a spinal fusion and discs replaced from C3 thru C7. I am the bionic woman. 10 months before that i had lower back surgery from L6 thru L6. I now have nerve damage there. My arms barely work and the pain is so severe in my neck it scares me to death, stops me dead in my tracks and I basically sit here in a ball. I look forward to taking my meds at night and passing out for a few hours. I sweat it out during the day. I take no pain meds, they make me crazy. Thank you for doing this.
Where are u
Thank you for sharing your story and the information.
Can you share the supplement products you use. Are the products organic?
Good morning Are you taking any supplements? If so, do you mind sharing the brand and quantity. I have reached out to my doctor and I do take iron daily due to anemia. I suffer from IBS and Acid reflux/GERD.
Are your supplements organic? Can you please share the brand and size of your instapot. You have been such an inspiration. I literally feel apart last night with what I’m dealing with and started looking for videos. Your video appeared and I thank you so much.
Hi Melyssa, thank you for this video. Would love to see another one on how its been since the surgery.
Totally in fight or flight tense
I also suffer from chronic neck pain and migraines. I’ve had several surgeries and now have a pain pump implant, which doesn’t completely cover the pain. Just had a block of c4-6, did have some relief, now facing second procedure before ablation. Do hope it helps you , you’re so young .
He Melyssa. I was wondering if you’re going to make any more videos since this was 3 years ago. I like your vids cooking with cfs
thank you. self improvment channels often forget to took about this kind of responsibility
Did you have a history of using antibiotics?
Holy smokes she talks a lot.
Did ut cured the crohn's disease i am on starting to take prednisolone tablet
Im on the low fiber diet because I found out that I have meckel's diverticulum…. After all of these years, no clue. Well, it perforated and had to go into emergency surgery. Took a good portion of my small intestines and my appendix (to avoid appendicitis down the road, I suppose). So low fiber as my innards heal.
God bless you. Hope you did well having a procedure done myself in the near future.
this was really helpful. thank you. i'm going to watch it again.
I'm on love fiber diet
I am 5 days out from my procedure and my neck feels week and painful with a bit of swelling. I have pain in my neck and lower skull. I am hoping this gets very less in the next few days.
SKINLESS FRUITS AND VEGGIES, MAKES THEM EVEN MORE LOW IN FIBER. THANKS FOR YOUR VIDEO.
I hope you choose to upload videos again. I came across your channel when looking for chronic fatigue tips and I really relate to and appreciate your perspective on things. Hope you're doing well!
If people think they deserve their desease, well, it's a crazy world.
If I didn’t have children and a full-time job it’d be so much easier. I push through work everyday and by the time I get home I crash hard. I can’t do anything. Weekends are when I try to get things done but I usually spend it sleeping because I’m still recovering from the week. It’s so depressing. I’m tempted to take my two weeks of vacation to rest and then try to slowly tackle the house that has literally fallen apart over the last two years of my CFS.
Didn’t the Dermatologist suggest Accutane?
This is non-reversible damage to your spine.
"My" RFA of the lumbar and sacral spine was a disaster. It was a painful 50 minutes with no sedation. It was very painful for weeks afterward. No pain meds. The pain post-op pain continued and at week 5 the surgeon said it "did not" take. The nerves were severed, so what happened. She did not answer.
Any updates ?
you did a great job here. very brave and well spoken. your propensity to help is appreciated
This video relates so much to me when I had my ostomy surgery. So traumatizing and I wasn’t really led well by anyone else and I wasn’t prepared for an ostomy at all. My ileocecal valve was taken out as well as part of my ileum. Thank you for your testimony.
Thank you ❤
Tank you.
I just had this done, on my lower back, three days ago. It wasn't that bad. He gave me lots of Lidocaine. I didn't even take any sedation. He said, I did well. I thanked him. I'm not in much pain now either. The first day, it felt like my foot or leg does, after it had fallen asleep and woke up again. It only tingled, like that, when I laid down on it. The second day, it only did that, when I carried half basket of clothes. I went shopping, with the bus and was fine in the store and on the bus. The third day, I didn't hurt. I even did the dishes, which, usually, hurts a lot. He said it could last 18 months. I hope he's right.
didnt work for me at all in my neck. my pain doc does not do ablations without being sedated. he said they are too painful. just the tshirt on the front of my neck or back of my neck makes the fire in those spots worse. i can't imagine being awake and having it done. my lower back also has nerve damage. i also had a spinal fusion from C3 thru C7 and all discs replaced with cadaver discs. I am left with sever nerve damage. i am scared and alone. i basically have a bar on my spinal column with nuts and bolts thru my vertebrae holding me together. my head is on a post. i am the bionic woman.
This looks so good! I will definitely make it soon!
God bless you 🙏 ❤
Yes… ty. Finally a video that makes sense and is super helpful for getting stuff done even tho chronic fatigue ❤
Thanks for sharing about the blood test (21 day) I'm so underweight & struggle with the prep IE, couldn't even get it close to my mouth, it made me so ill.
My doctor ignore meat
But u looks so healthy
These are truly good strategies and I will be watching 2 or 3 times to get it down. I wish I could throw all the “onion wrappers” from counter to the floor but the assumption there is that I will have energy to then vacuum. I won’t. My illness allows me far less spoons in a day. I can clean the bathtub, sink & toilet then I’m finished FOR THE DAY. Next day I can clean the br floor and I could easily be finished for the day. I can do some laundry and that’s it for the day. Next day I may not be able to do anything. I would like to know about others whose lives/illness is like this.
You can vacuum and mop in the same day? What’s that like?
Im exausted just thinking about it and .I live in a 1/1 aroubd500square feet!😊
Me too but I can see how these tips would help someone with mild or moderate chronic illness and I will watch the rest ( I'm 5 minutes in) to see if any hacks I can use. Long handled tools like grabbers and a long handled kitty litter scoop are 2 things that help me as well as a suggestion on other videos to find a way to do tasks like ironing, weeding the garden ect seated. But yeah I cannot do even a moderate activity for 30 minutes straight! Addendum: Well watched the whole thing. Not practical for low income people with moderate to severe chronic illness but glad it exists to help people with less severe chronic illness 😊
I was just placed on a low fiber diet. This recipe looks pretty good. I will gladly try it. I got the majority of the ingredients except for the last one the red bottle with the chicken on it cannot recognize what it was hoping to see more recipes from you. Thanks Gloria from New Orleans .
Thank you!
Giving myself permission to rest has been really important for me. Thanks for the helpful video. You're honest & have integrity and shouldn't apologise for your views. Just doing one thing at a time helps, or I can get overwhelmed jumping from task to task. Staying off socials and my phone for most of the day (usually 9:30-4:30) so I remember that I like to read and journal and make art etc, offline things also helps. I also love walking in nature & regular hot baths. I don't know what you're up to lately but I hope you post more content in the future, if you're able to.
This recipe helped so much! My fiancé and I have been having a difficult time trying to find recipes to make. As he has been newly diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and has been an extremely difficult transition for him since he is a foody. Thank you this gave me some hope to make him a nice meal that makes him smile 💙
First you snap the pasta in half, cut vegetables with fingers exposed, + then you scrape the cut onions with the blade side off of your cutting board. Complete amateur hour! 🫵😜👎
inspiring video! i think this will really help with my routine. something i recommend to anyone with a chronic fatigue issue is a robovac. mine is by the brand Eufy and i've had it for years now, still works great.
I know this is an old video but these probiotics are no good for those with ibs as they are high in fodmaps
