PREVENTIVE CARE for an AGING SHIBA INU | 5 things you need to do NOW
มุมมอง 78121 วันที่ผ่านมา
My shiba inu just turned 3 and as much as he is still young and healthy, preventive care starts as early as 1 day old. Even though we cannot control everything, like predisposed illnesses and conditions, we can do our best so they can be their best self. Shiba Inus are generally healthy dogs with a lifespan of 12-15 years, but as they age, they require specific preventive care to ensure they re...

My boyfriend and I started our pet-setting business a couple of months ago. Since then, we’ve had over 10 dogs over and I can say that each experience was unique in their own way. SHIBA INU transformation from PUPPY to ADULT | what to expect
มุมมอง 4.9K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Aoki will celebrate his 3rd birthday in a few weeks and it dawned on me how much he changed over these past few years. One of the questions I get the most is about how they grow up, who they grow up to be and what it is like having an adult pup. That is something important to look into as when getting a pup, we usually envision ourselves with the baby version of our dog. When reality kicks in, ...

SHIBA INU 101: PUPPY BASICS you NEED to KNOW 🐶🐾
I remember reading a book on shiba inu where they were described as having the ability to be active without being hyperactive. This certainly described my girl.
Question, do you still use treats to do any training.
I have a roomba and it's scheduled to go after my shiba is her bed. She totally ignores the roomba.
I never babyfy my little baby.
😝😂
Alright my parents failed me soo I'm okay though
🫢😂😂😂😂
Such a cozy video, love it! Happy holidays🎄
Thanks so much ⛄️ happy holidays to you too!
I would love to see some bloopers from the boot wearing training 😂 my girls HATE winter booties
😅😅
That paw soap is so nice never tried the balm but I really want to. The balm I use is mushers secret it’s really nice.
I love this duo!!
I love my hand warmers. Also great for massaging around my neck.
Name of doggie boots.
Canada Pooch
I have a shiba inu his like 16 months now and his only problem i would say is other male dogs , he gets along with females and cats and humains but not other males he seems dominant his gotten into a few fights already. He walks off the leash and doesnt run away.
Love your videos! Started watching them before I got my black shiba girl last month. I live in the mtl suburbs :) thanks for the great content
what’s the name of this hand warmers?❤
I don’t see any name on them but I believe they were bought off Amazon :)
What size coat do you buy for Aoki? I'm thinking I need to buy a winter coat for my 20 lb male Shiba. We are in Georgia. The winters don't get too cold, but they do get to 30 degrees F. Even with his double coat, he does get cold at night and always ends up scooting his body next to me for warmth at night when we sleep. lol He's used to the warm temperatures in the south, I guess. lol
Hahahaha that’s so sweet! It depends on the brand as they all differ from each other :/ but in general he’s wear S - M. It is important you account for the harness that will add an extra layer under the coat so I usually need to size up depending on the brand
@@aokiandanais Oh that is a very good point! I didn't think about the harness adding bulk! Thank Anais!
First winter with my Shiba Inu! This was very helpful!
So excited for you! 🥰 glad that you found the video helpful
Same!
Lovely time for all dogs, they love it, have the best time, great video!
Thanks so much! 🥰🥰🥰 really appreciate your words!
My Shiba had raised by a young girl in its first weeks so he (it’s a Shiba boy) loves children, especially the higher voice of them. He also loves run with kids like with flying kites. Socializing in the first weeks and months is the most important part.
💯
I love how Montreal is so dog friendly. I wish Toronto was too so that we would take Gamja to more places.

Very nice indeed!
Many thanks! I
Aoki so well behaved. ❤
He has his moments 🥲🫶🏽
I love Shiba Inu I follow the TH-cam channel of Shirosuki ❤
What? Your shibas like water? My shiba hates water like a cat. Lol
😂😂😂 he only likes it when he needs to fetch his water toy…Aoki will not start swimming on his own account although, he does not mind walking in water!
Long time owner of Shibas here and luv your videos! Two B & T's (God rest their souls!) and now a Sesame like yours, but a girl. IMHO, the best small dog breed on this planet! Our recent girl came from a breeder that also shows: Brooks has four generations of champions and grand champions in her lineage - she is the best! She's never been shown but stands like she is on display! That regal look, a true treasure breed!
Hi i love all your videos you are an inspiration ❤ I have a 14 month old shiba and i would love to know where you got that little elevated tray that you put Aoki bowls on please 🙏🏼😍
Our shiba Haru lived to 14 years old and many of these tips are definitely helpful for any future/current shiba inu owners! Love your videos!
Awesome great video I love how you share stuff google and other TH-camrs hide from the public I just got a white Shiba Inu he’s 10 weeks old any puppy tips ?
Thanks so much 🙏 yes loads of tips! You can track down my previous videos : my suggestion my Shiba Inu 101 playlist ;)
Hi! I love all your videos ❤ been fallowing you guys for awhile.. i have a 14 month old shiba and i would love to know where you got that elevated little tray you put Aokis food on 😍
Great video, you've been doing such a great job, thansk for teh tips!
Thank you so much! 🥰 There is so much time and effort that I put into content whether on YT or IG, your words mean so much!
@@aokiandanais You're doing a great job :)
I need cigarettes I can't I need you to get them
LOVE this, thank you!! I’ve been going to pet stores to speed time with Shibas and definitely forced my loving on the first one and he was not having it. The second was a girl and she loved me so much and didn’t want to leave me 😭 The third hated my guts. 1st and 3rd were both older than the second (3 months old). So I’m definitely going to try to aim for a very young pup if possible. Debating if I’ll get one from a pet store for convenience or do the long haul of waiting on a breeder. This video really helped me to see that pushing a Shiba to love me would be counterproductive. So I’ll be patient until I become their special person over time and care.
Thanks for the breakdown! Just a quick off-topic question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
Enjoying this so much! After our election here in the USA, I want to move to Canada. I know my Shiba would love the cold! I can't convince hubby tho.
Great video! I am on my 3rd Shiba in the past 25 years... i presently am the proud owner of a one year old male. My first was a female who let me trim her nails, but my last one and my male, no way! Going to try calming meds but... My last Shiba a female didn't let strangers touch her but Cody loves every one! i love your content!
Great video again. How do you get him to stay down for the 1st time? Our Shiba Puppy seems to understand Sit. She also wants to eat our food and tries to jump on our dinner table. She also does a flurry of small jumps and soft bites when she sees us in the morning or when I come back from work... (No wagging tail though)..
My kids keep running around in the yard with our Shiba puppy.. is that a bad thing?
sorry didn't catch what the boy did to make Aoki scared; or what was Aoki's reaction to what "john" did? 1st time dog owener here and my 2 boys love playng with "shara" our 2 month old Shiba Inu. She likes to bite (playful ones) so came across your video while looking for guidance in Shiba inu's
Lovely, alway enjoy ur videos
Very sweet!
Aoki is so observant, always wants to see what his pawrent is doing in the kitchen, or setting up. Lol reminds me of my male Shiba. Just follows me around to see what I'm doing. Love your Aoki videos and all the hard work you put into them. He is such a good boy!
I WANT A SHIBA SO BAD FOR CHRISTMAS😍😍😍😍
your shiba is so well trained. do you have any training videos?
me and my Shiba Kenai love watching your videos together keep it up!

Hi, I'm probably getting a shiba soon, can I ask how much they shed? I've heard that they shed a lot, and it's not a problem for me, I'm just curious. Btw Aoki is sooo cute.
I know this is just a simple "top 3" video but I just so wish I knew about other complex problems that might arise when training a Shiba Inu or any other similar breed. Because they are so cute and people constantly want to invade their space it's super easy for them to get reactive to people. Trying to solve their behavioural problems with more activity might lead to overexercising a puppy which can lead to hip dysplasia. Because of hip dysplasia we cannot even find enough of energy to socialise our 5 mo puppy anymore. All of her mental energy is directed towards her therapy and post-op recovery. I also need to focus very hard on managing her reactivity when we go out for walks to potty. Our walks are a mess mostly because of all the trash that is left out there in my neighbourhood. We are also unlucky that there's plenty of construction work in our area recently and the noise makes our puppy much more sensitive. Shibas are known to adapt to living in an apartment but with no balcony nor elevator I wouldn't do it again. Really, no amount of breed specific short guides and tips can prepare someone for raising those dogs. There are so many unexpected challenges and facing them with a Shiba puppy can truly make you regret having them in a moment. I love my girl but she's basically a part time job at the moment. Fixing mistakes we did in the first weeks just takes that much time and energy. I really want the best for her but I'm no longer sure I will be able to give her as good of a life as I would like. To anyone that's considering a Shiba Inu puppy: try at least to practice dog training with some other dogs to have any skill at the start. Correct, effective dog training is really hard to learn and obedience is really important in preventing reactivity that can lead to aggression.
Heres some info i wrote from my dog training document; Dogs often pull on the leash because they have learned that pulling brings them closer to things they want, like interesting smells or other animals. Use the leash as a tool to guide your dog, not the other way around. Aim to give a verbal cue a second or two before any leash correction. This gives your dog a chance to respond and encourages them to listen to verbal cues over time. Avoid yanking the leash, but instead stop moving completely when your dog puts tension on the leash. Pressure & Release This technique teaches your dog that leash pressure/tension will always release when they follow the direction. Give a verbal cue Give the dog some time to process it Apply appropriate tension to the leash , preferably steering the neck of the dog where you want it. As soon as your dog moves to the desired direction or position, release the pressure. This teaches your dog that moving in the direction of the leash pressure, brings comfort, and a release of tension. Using a neck collar is preferable during training, since it directs the dog’s head and front legs more precisely. Later, you could switch to a harness, when your dog has learned to follow guidance through pressure & release. Techniques to stop leash pulling Teach a command: To walk beside you (heel) or leave something (leave it) and focus on you. Stop moving: Halt immediately and wait for your dog to release tension on the leash. Once they return to your side, reward this behavior. With consistency, your dog learns that pulling leads nowhere, while calm walking earns rewards and positive interaction. Change direction: If your dog pulls or gets ahead, use a recall command, apply appropriate leash pressure and move in the opposite direction. Over time, this builds your dog’s awareness of your movements and reinforces your role as the leader.
To stop stop your dog from pulling the leash when walking, stop moving, and freeze up, as soon as your dog puts pulling tension on the leash, and wait for your dog to release tension on the leash. Once they return to your side, reward this behavior, and continue walking. With consistency, your dog learns that pulling leads nowhere, while calm walking gets to his objective.
You built time touching his paw up too fast. I would reward with food after every nail trim or 5 seconds touching, to make it a positive experience, and increase the time slowly. Never keep going if you see a lot of stress signals. It's normal they don't like it, especially if it takes long. Always try to stop before they try to get away from you, or they will learn that it's effective to try and get away from you, and you can reward them. For resource guarding to other dogs, i practiced with leash corrections, and food rewards when he stayed calm, when i give another dog food or when training it. But i have to do it again for every different dog. Try not to avoid too many things, but be pro-active and train with food rewards and eventually leash corrections if necessary, when the dog has learned the behavior through a lot of positive reinforcement.
Have you heard of Cesar Millan? He has plenty of helpful videos on these topics!
Thank you. After all the effort and training you put into Aoki, it concerns me to know that he’s still not great on the leash. My pup is 4 months old and I’ve been putting so much time into it but I’m getting the impression it will be a long journey. He does all the reactivity things, wants to jump on every dog and goes to nip them right in the face, he also play bites people when they greet him, and the most concerning part is when he eats everything in sight and I’ll try to get something like a rock out of his mouth and he’ll bite so hard I bleed. I’m struggling with how to address these issues and want to address them early on. I even got a trainer to help but I’m not so sure it did. Some of the things they advised made him even more aggressive. Any tips would be appreciated!
What a sweet sweet walk
