HOW to build a STRONG RELATIONSHIP with your SHIBA INU DOG
Whether you just had a new pup , or fostering a dog or adopted an adult one, strengthening the relationship with your dog is essential for several reasons. Although important, building a strong relationship that fosters trust between you and your dog is not discussed often.
That’s crazy to me because the base of any relationship determines how your listen to each other and act with one another. When your dog trusts you, they're more likely to follow your guidance and feel secure in their environment.

why SHIBA INU is the WORST (and best) DOG BREED
มุมมอง 12K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
Getting a pup regardless of the breed is a serious decision. For you to choose the best breed according to your personality, your lifestyle and your requirements takes a lot of work. I’ve had aoki since fall 2021 - that’s close to 2 years now and there a multiple times where I felt discouraged and overwhelmed and other times I also felt lucky, grateful and happy of my choice. SHIBA INU PERSONALITY EXPLAINED

This year, i noticed that Aoki’s personality really flourished. He matured quite a bit and, his true colours started to shine a few months ago. ❤

Hey! Do you think you could offer some advice? I'd be really grateful! So two weeks ago I brought home a new shiba inu. But he's already almost 7 months old so it's a bit harder to work with him. He's really a good boy, okay with any manipulation,, friendly with animals... But he's scared of everything. He doesn't want to go on a walk much and leave his comfort zone. He was used to be on a garden whole day and sleep inside with other dogs from the kennel and his sister and brother but he wasn't going out that much. He's not used to towns at all and to meet more people and hear noices. I was hoping I'd travel with my dog one day and I'll be moving in a big town. But now I'm scared he won't get used to all of that. That he will always be scared, anxious and scream or try to run. He's doing good in nature and he is even getting used to walks in a smaller city, but every time I stop somewhere or wanna sit for a lunch outside or he simply is having enough , it becomes a fight. And I'm afraid he won't get used to it or worse that I will mess the training and hurt his mental health . He'll also live inside with me but he's only used to a garden now and he doesn't even want to go to sleep inside so I have to TAKE him inside. I'm looking for advices on the internet but our situation is kinda specific as nothing I found really helped. I was raising a shiba once and he belongs to my ex, but there was no social issue with him so I don't know how to react... :( He's still getting used to a new home and me as well of course so I still hope everything will get better. I wanted to try a way through treats but sadly when he's nervous, he doesn't want them

We've had 2 Shibas a girl and boy - they are exact opposites. The only thing they have in common is we can walk them off leash. We didn't have to teach the girl who was smarter, but she barks & hated everyone & loved to eat everything and woke us up to eat, super loyal to my husband and follows him everywhere. Koji is silly, playful, loves everyone, cuddles, never barks, and picky eater.

You should only get one of these old ancient dogs if you really want to live with the dog and not only to own it. Have you tried freeze dried treats? Try tossing a variety of treats in your pouch so you offer a variety of textures. Also refrain from giving too much all the time to create scarcity. Another option is that your pup might not be food driven ;)

Oh they shed like crazy you could make another dog with the amount of fur that comes off them. I’m a dog groomer though so I’m used to it

If you can, brush with de-shedder at least twice a week and you’ll be fine. Mine loves being brushed. 🤷🏾‍♂️

BAD 🥲 if you don’t like hair on you, in your house sometimes….in your food, Shiba Inus are a no go 😅 I have to vacuum everyday.

Mine surprisingly not bad. But I brush at least once a week to once every two weeks. In the spring/summer, I use an undercoat rake to get rid of the old shed fur. Otherwise I use a slicker or metal comb brush like the furminator or a steel comb to do general brushing. They’ll still leave a couple fly-aways but I’ve not had any problems. (Granted, mine is 8.5 months). However, two words of advice: always brush them outside and they will eat their own brushed fur. 😂

i spent a very long time not wanting a dog (mostly because my lifestyle didnt allow for one).... after a few years of loneliness and recognition that i need a companion, i changed my mind.... i've settled down a little bit and have finally come to a place where a dog would be rather good to have. i recently started work as a dog groomer, and it just feels right. i've spent a good deal of time studying different breeds, and comparing how they are at work and i've decided that a Shiba feels right for me. i always loved the idea of a husky, but thats just. too much dog. i *adore* cats, and have always had them, and having a dog that is mildly catlike feels so good. I'm going to be researching and speaking to some local breeders to begin the process, and spending the next year or two readying my lifestyle for a pup. I'm so excited to begin this chapter! thank you and thank aoki for being so awesome and sharing your story.

do they require a lot of maintenance? shedding?

    • @roguetheotter
      @roguetheotter หลายเดือนก่อน

@@laurencel.7980 mildly. they do need routine de-shed's and brushing, and a bath every month or so just to keep them from getting impacted. like most double coated dogs, they shed out their inner coat at the changing of the seasons. but they don't need to be cut or shaved like many other dogs do.

a lot of shedding and I would say high maintenance during their first year or so but then their energy gets more balanced :)

My Shiba Inu was born wild and lived wild for about 8 years. He was not socialist by humans. I found him near death and helped him. He decides to stay with me and I never had any problem. I handle him on a co-operating basis and he always does what I want him to do. We rarely use a leash because he comes immediately when I call him and stays near to me in general.

Really loved this video, we just got our 11 week old shibe yesterday. He is AMAZING, however we were met with some judgement from our friends since we’re in an apartment but your video gave me so much validation and reassurance. Thank you so much for these videos, will look back on your training videos as we learn!
