What are those towles you use in all your videos? Are they disposable ones that you've purchased or are they just a bit old sheet or something that you've cut up?
They are just white clothes that we purchase in large 20kg bags. Very useful 👍
Well done ol lad. Very nice bandit.
How much fork oil it takes to vfr?
👍
Magnificent channel. I would like yo see repairs for R1, R6, Zx6, Zx10 motorcycles. Greetings.
Well done Steve, glad to see your videos as always. My son has also an YBR125 and if its time later on in future, we then knoq how to manage this job. I'm an motorcycle mechanic in my small garage, but only do my own bikes, specially BMW K-bikes from the 80's. Doing this kind of job outside in all weather conditions is difficult and troublesome, so all consideration is warranted. Excuse my bad english, I live in Sweden and it was long time since I was learning english in school. 🙂 Excellent job and videos Steve !
Your English is much better than my Swedish 🇸🇪 👍 And thank you for commenting and enjoying the videos
Those front forks are a joke. Looks like it's from a MTB haha..
It’s a 125 what do you expect?
@@Jestersson look at the front end of a Aprilia RS125 , then you'll understand what I'm talking about😉 I'd never buy a Chinese 125 That being said, I just got off the CF Moto 800MT and it's awesome! So not all things are the same from the old empire anymore.
@@laz1go286 Back in the late 80’s we all rode round on 50’s, 100’s & 80’s with forks like straws but so what? They did the job.
@@Jestersson yes mate and back in 1900s people were riding horses and they were fine on them too 🤣🤣 C'mon it's 2024..
@@laz1go286It’s a cheap Chinese commuter bike and the forks won’t be any thinner than on any Japanese 125 commuter bike or scooter. You expect R1 forks on a 125?🤣
Are you able to work on bikes still under warranty?
"The power band has gone loose, so we're gonna swap that out"??? 😂😂😂 Is this a joke? Checking for April 1st.... ahhhh, ok... nice one 😂😂😂
All the Hondas that I have worked on require the radiator to be slid sideways to remove, that saves removing that grommet support.
Super job again Steve, well done mate, kudos for spotting the timing out by one tooth!!
Great job 👍 Heart surgery would be less fiddly.
Nice one Steve! Thanks for sharing!!
this channel is an absolute gem
Hi Steve, yet another top job done and dusted, are you what is known as a master mechanic, because you certainly know your stuff
Think I'd have just sprayed some ACF50 in that switch - way too fiddly for my fat fingers!
Please link to that impact screwdriver you were using in this video.
Link should be in the description
Hi. Thanks for this video. I have to to my venom clutch shortly. What size was the special socket required.
Great work! Can please share the vacuum hose brand/type you have bought? Maybe a link too? That would help me a lot, as I am about to replace my vacuum tubes. Thanks!
It’s just 3mm vacuum hose, nothing special
Well done some of that job looked awkward needed more fingers and hands😂😂😂
thank you sm
Good job mate I was praying those exhaust studs didn’t snap on you😆
How about a length of earth wire from some 2.5mm cable. It’s flexible but stays in shape so makes feeding the chain through the various orifices during refitting much easier than using a pic & screwdriver 😎🔧
Removing the tank is often difficult without a second pair of hand especially if it is full of fuel, I sometimes go out with a guy when he is busy to lend an old pair of hands, doing valve clearances out of the workshop is definitely a challenge when time is against you, it pays to have a full day when doing these.
After 40 years in the trade it is always the same when working on older bikes that have not been looked after, and doing it on the floor gets much harder after your 50th birthday, especially in the winter time without a garage, respect to all you mobile guys out in all weathers.
I like the honesty in your videos; "nipped" skin when grips slip, getting annoyed when bolts seize etc. This, to me, makes genuine and interesting watching, not to mention the skill and knowledge needed. Many thanks for posting. Stay safe, all the best.
Thanks 👍
Love your videos. Please keep them coming 😂
Thank you! Will do!
Un saludo. Buen trabajo.
Shame about the annoying drone most of the video, had to leave the wife in the living room, and watch the rest up stairs.🤪
Yeah it was an extractor fan at the place we did the job. The editor lady tried to remove it from the audio best she could 😊👍
Just a thought while you had the cylinder off you didn't put a new piston and rings in
Not requested by the customer and no point. If it works leave it alone. We don’t spend customers money just because.
@@themobilemotorbikemechanic fair point sometimes money's tight for the customer
Nice job.
Thank you! Cheers!
I am sure it runs better now that the timing is correct.
Nothing worse than right at the start the job bites you, but you saw it though, Well done Sir.
My first motorcycle the good old YBR. Hope you got paid well for that job. What a marathon.
Sorry to be picky but you did not say anything about alining the piston rings with bore and you might have beaded to recheck the valve clearances as you have removed the cylinder head
You can be as picky as you like, and yes the clearance probably should have been checked which is something we didn’t do on this occasion.
Hi Steve I use to tie a cable tie to the top of the timing chain and tie it to the frame
Nicely done.
Well done you must have edited a few swear words out of that video. I have been a biker for more than 40 years and learn a lot watching you. After watching a few videos i get the impression people have been in there before you and left you with problems.
That could well have been the case. We only get to see the bike on the day so it’s always fun 👍👍👍
When I did this, I used a zippy tie to hold the cam chain and thread it up the tunnels. You've done it perfectly, but that tip helped me. The job is so much harder on the floor. I'm surprised it doesn't rain on your vlogs. Great job.
Great tip!
You obviously haven’t watched all of our videos 👍 it sure does rain sometimes!!
Takes me back that! Great video, as always, mate.
Glad you enjoyed it
Do you come to lincoln

Sorry but do not come that far from Warwickshire
@themobilemotorbikemechanic I will just have take a nice ride to you lol
In a 12v bike battery there are 6 cells, 10.2V which means 5 of them are OK and the other is shorted out.
When you were balancing the carbs the temporary fuel bottle appears to be lower then the float bowls, is there a pump in there somewhere or am I missing something?
It is just a gravity feed bottle so it may have been a camera angle thing.
I always use a little grease on pivots such as gear levers and clutch levers just to prevent corrosion. If it moves grease, if its stationary copper slip. That left clip on is well bent.
Was well bent. We sorted it before we left 👊
Easy fix, great video
I nearly had a nervous breakdown just watching that. Bikes are not made to be worked on. I have a beautiful VFR 800 Fi (5th generation) and if I tried that I am sure my engine would never run again. Why would anyone design a fuel tank that leaked when you had to remove it? My main learning points from this are (for me) :- A. Never try and do anything to a motorcycle yourself - not even an air filter change. B. Motorcycles are fiendishly designed so that you must take them to a main dealership for servicing or repair. C. Mechanics are superhuman deities who should be as revered as cardiac surgeons. I have a CBR 600 FW in bits in the garage to remind me of the consequences of having a bash yourself. Now all I need is a scrap merchant to pick it up. That was a frightening video which will probably give me nightmares.
Came on TH-cam tonight and saw that Mat Durrans of The Bike Show had passed away, then watched this...very emotional, something must be in my eyes..lovely video guys, thank you.
Great video, thank you more decent people around than bad, hope it can be a annual event with more money going to the charity. And all in the name of Dave of course.
Amazing turnout for a good man. Nice one Steve👍
Wow wow wow, what an amazing turn out for Dave,he'll be watching down with a tear in his eyes ,just goes to say that when the biking community do something they do it big style, respect to all those who turned out ,what a sight ❤
