Modem in the PCI slot? I remember modems that were separate from the PC... they plugged into the serial port on the back of the PC (my first ever computer was a Commodore 64), and moved at a rocket fast 900 baud... my first PCI modem, I think I was maybe 20 or 21. I also had a pager, and the projector gave me PTSD. I still have a manual pencil sharpener, and my dad's car had a bag phone in it. My daughter had heelies for a little while when she was younger, and I thought power windows were cool and fancy when I was a kid, since they were so rare. I've never used snapchat, but know how it works. I never imagined that I could take so much emotional damage from a video on the internet.

Pagers didn't receive just numbers. You could call an operator and ask to send a text to someone's pager.

Even though I was born in the very early 2000s I understood a lot more of the “boomer” topics more than the “zommer” subjects. Probably just because of not having internet at a younger age and our parents age.
