As someone who has written Fanfics in high school. I have not once known about lemons until my senior year.
Meanwhile, as someone who learned the term "lemon" before I learned about the term "smut" in my history of reading and writing fanfiction, I'm surprised that Dez doesn't know the latter term. Probably hasn't been keeping up with more recent fanfiction writing, then?

Damn I relate to my boy Vesper hard, one of my best friends in elementary once we got to High school joined X-country and track and field and somehow I ended up learning a lot about macros, running form and general terminology despite not being on the team. I forgot all about it at this point but it was funny that I could have conversations with some of his teammates about all that stuff.

Tbh, I think having subtitles directly affects audience retention, because there's always something happening on the screen and you are unconsciously paying attention to it. You are also utilizing different areas of your brain by watching and hearing, it's almost like there's more content without there actually being more content.

Slash actually refers to homosexual relationships, not whether a story is a lemon.
I believe it originated in the Star Trek fandom of the 70(?)s. Kirk & Spock, for example, was a gen fic, where Kirk/Spock (or Spock/Kirk, order was important) was a romance, therefore a 'slash' fic. It applies only to M/M romance, as F/F is typically dubbed 'femslash'.
Really? My guess was it was a horror related theme. As in “slasher films”

No idea what lemon or slash is but I am becoming more and more.. relatable to Vesper. I do the same thing too, knows a lot of stuff for subjects I barely am interested in. I know what tweening is, though that's probably because I actually studied it (part of the course, not what I want out of the entire program). But even as an IT person, I know quite a few terms for civil engineering because my dad loves to talk about it. You just kinda remember it when they talk so passionately about it.
I know of slash fiction, so I’m assuming lemon is just a term for shipping fanfiction.
@@KeiosKod lemon was an old term for nsfw fanfiction, there was a whole citrus scale at the time because fanfic sites having rules about nsfw and such
@@ramiveekiu3667 yeah i remember that. Lime has light, ecchi content. Not fully explicit. Lemon is full r18 stuff. Orange is the lightest one, usually for intimate kissing and hugs, maybe some touching.

Smut/NSFW/PWP are the tags I generally remember seeing while I used to browse through AO3, I usually read sappy fluff stories but even then I haven't read a fanfic in about a year or so and I don't remember all the tags.

B d s m... weirdly I just know a lot about it. More than the average person who is just into it I guess anyway. Also precious metal scrap and secondhand jewellery, antiques and restoration, environment and habitat management, certain aspects of biology and zoology, fossil hunting, survival skills...... the list goes on and on. I have a sponge for a brain, it can't hold things like names or important things I need to do etc but it retains so much "useless" info on very specific subjects, especially when they are weird

lemon is how authors called their rated 18/nsfw/story with seggs fanfiction back in the days. during aff and ffn era. nowadays it's just called as smut.
it's from citrus scale thingy with the most segged up being called grapefruit. nowadays you tagged it as nsfw, mature, smut or if theres non-con or dark materials as dead dove.
