Two-tone sirens are much easier to locate, spatially. I have no idea why so many places have switched to screamers. The change of speed of the siren at junctions also makes it way easier for motorists to read the situation.

In Australia, Traffic Controllers can set a route from one place to another (giving all green lights for fire trucks) from the command centre _surprises me that this is not done here or are they yet to get the technology?_

The sirens should have been on from the start. To only use them as he did he almost caused multiple crash incidents because other drivers were unaware of his approach. Did you notice how well the roads are giving directions to all users? Talk to your local politicians if you care for much more safety on the road. Let them watch this video. Same goes for your local police.

Makes a huge world of difference when drivers are not distracted on their phones, road raged or feeling self entitled unlike those in some parts of Canada or most US cities. In Netherlands, driving a car is viewed as a special privilege's with responsibilities. In America, drivers feel driving is a god given right as much as owning guns but without the responsibility. So naturally, traffic is made much worse for emergency vehicles as drivers refuse to let each other into an escape lane to let the emergency vehicle through. NYC is a pretty extreme example of this.

This is much, much cheaper than transporting the patient by helicopter to the nearest hospital. Helicopter ambulance rides cost $75,000 per 15 minutes of flight.
