  • Welcome. Today we are in Germany, where we join this first responder on his way to the Essen University Hospital with a high urgence delivery. We start our ride in the nearby village of Gelsenkirchen. We will make our way to the A40 Autobahn from were we will head west towards the city of Essen. In normal circumstances this would be a simple and smooth trip, especially at this hour, but we will be in for a big surprise on the highway later on. Stay tuned.
    If you’re fascinated by sirens, flashing lights, and the critical work of first responders, you’re in the right place. Our channel provides a unique perspective-literally-from the driver’s seat of police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks. We collect various videos from all over the world and add insightful context and commentary.

    5:05 it was clear why, as the gps remarked the accident a few seconds ago, you could hear it clearly.

    Well, other than the one guy on the Autobahn who didn't move out of the way until our driver honked at him, everyone else was behaving mostly ok. The rescue lane still has room for improvement, but it looked great compared to some others I've seen on video :-) So, other than an untimely accident enroute, at least the other parts were reasonably uneventful...

    4:30 the voice says "Because of an accident, 50 meters..." but then they cut it off, manually it seems

      Even if they had listened to the GPS, they wouldn't have been able to turn off the highway. The road marking arrows seems indicate that the turn was right where the accident was.

    The transports starts in Gelsenkirchen but literally seconds after that they drive under a bridge and be in Bochum until they get to the Autobahn

    Good old Rettungsgasse... although there should always be one as soon as there is a traffic jam, at least the very first cars reacted quickly... after that, it went smooth towards the accident. While it took them a moment to get past that point, it came with the advantage of a clear highway for a big part of the remaining route. I live in that area, and the A40 always is good for some surprises... we locals call it "The longest parking lot in the Ruhr Area" for a reason!

    The Highway area at the beginning between Wattenscheid and Essen is always full, starts in the morning when everyone wants to go to the office, and there is also a construction site on the A52, the A40 connects both routes. Greetings from a local resident

    wouldnt it have been quicker to use a helicopter?

    • @b3nnilein481
      @b3nnilein481 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Rescue helicopter fly under visual flight rules (VFR) in Germany. All VFR traffic flying during nighttime needs a flight plan filed latest 60min prior going airborne. Therefore rescue helicopters fly only during daytime

    • @joandsarah77
      @joandsarah77 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Here in Australia we have care flight helicopters. They fly at a moments notice, day, night or rain.

      @consti7161 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      In Germany there are more "allweather/daytime" Helicopters but a helicopter is much more expensive and is not faster in every case.
      When there are big distances, for example from Munich to Hamburg, then the cargo is delivered to the airport or train Station by car, and in Hamburg at the airport or train Station there is the next car which brings the cargo to the destination.

    Interesting, why dispatcher did not helped ambulance driver to avoid this situation? They did not control road situation to plan fastest way to destination?

    There is a control centre managing such a drive.They have failed seriously.

    • @einsatzfahrteninside
      @einsatzfahrteninside หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      No there is no control centre managing any drives! The drivers themself checks out the route. The Autobahn wasn't closed when the driver turned on the Autobahn. Exiting the Autobahn and going through the city would't have made a difference. The driver knows this area and the sorrunding streets very well and did the right thing.

    • @Klaus2m5
      @Klaus2m5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@einsatzfahrteninside Let´s make this "There should be a control center managing the drive" much like an ATC. Alternatively they could monitor the local emergency channels and would be notified of an incident that way. But that is quite a workload.

    • @einsatzfahrteninside
      @einsatzfahrteninside หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Klaus2m5 Sorry but no. That's not even a "there should be...". Every Organisation has a Control Center of some sort that's manageing all their assignments etc. The things you mentioned like monitoring the local channels and so on are redundant. It's much quicker when the driver checks his route and if necessary contacts the local Control Center of the Police or Fire Services. There is the possibility that this is done for the driver, but in most cases, this is just more time consuming. I've done this a few times for colleagues, but I have the contacts and experience for such a task. It is simply not possible to set this up for all colleagues in a Control Center
      Just FYI: If the Control Center of that Company would monitor the local channels where their cars are operating and driving at the time, their need to listen into approximately 200+ channels constantly.
      Regarding the technical and personnel perspective, this is complete nonsense!

    • @Klaus2m5
      @Klaus2m5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@einsatzfahrteninside Well, the complete nonsense works with air traffic control, doesn´t it? If you were to get a police escort, it would work as well as they rely on their dispatch to be informed of blocked routes. But yes, it takes a lot more manpower. Let´s hope that you never end up in a road closure that can´t be resolved so easily.

      @@Klaus2m5 i can't i even hit my head against the wall hard enough to understand the stupidity to compare an ATC with a Control Center of an Company which uses cars to transport medical goods...😒🤦‍♂
      I have organised police escorts. The Police always met with the driver and talks things through or does this by phone/radio. There ist no need to put a Control Center between that. It's the same in the netherlands. The personell talks to each other when they have met.
      I've been there when MVA's happend a few minutes in front and the road was completly blocked. When the Emergency Services where there and took over the scene, the Autobahn was completly blocked and we truned around, drove to the next exit and countinued.
      There is always a way to get out of a situation like this. It depends on some factors but there is always a way.
