  • If you’re fascinated by sirens, flashing lights, and the critical work of first responders, you’re in the right place. Our channel provides a unique perspective-literally-from the driver’s seat of police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks. We collect various videos from all over the world and add insightful context and commentary.
    Welcome. Today we are back in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands were we join the crew of this ambulance. Our driver has collected the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit team at the University Medical Center in the south east of Amsterdam and now needs to rush them to the City Hospital Location West. This Pediactric team specializes in Intensive Care for children under the age of 18. In these situations every moment counts. Our driver is skilled but is still dependent on how other road users react to the approaching ambulance. We will find out how unpredictable and dangerous this can be at the end of this emergency run, so stay tuned.

    Nice spot spotting the reduced speed driving a10 west!
    From the same rulebook; a red traffic light can be ignored but only if you reduce speed to 20 km/h, that's why i could easily stop in time for the black VW

    I am pruod of the Dutch drivers (well, almost all of them) who understand that next time it can be you in the back of the ambulance.

    Excellent pace, but the smoothness of the drive is outstanding. Observing hazards way ahead is key.

    My first ambulance response, a woman did the same thing. It is amazing just how hard the cabinets in an ambulance are.

    Thanks for that video. I love the way you do the comments on these. Your use of the first person makes you sound really involved. Compliments for your research as well, you know more about the applying rules than me as a dutchman 😊 And last but not least hats off to @jvo77 of course for navigating the traffic without the help of a police escort. Such a shame really that Amsterdam doesn’t have the same facilities as the The Hague/Rotterdam area.

      There is no patient onboard, just a team of medics. No reason for police escort, and Amsterdam does have police bikers that can do escorts (as every region has), they just don't have a youtube channel where they post them...

      @@davidc2328 how do you know they weren’t carrying a patient?

    • @jvo77
      @jvo77 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@b.anders it is in the description of my video ;-). And the police escort is possible but much less needed in Amsterdam because most of the hospitals are really close to the highway

    I had one of them once. Obsessed with what they just "HAD TO DO". No one around them are safe, at any time.

    Two things, firstly, there was no swerving as mentioned,only a controller exit from one road to another. secondly, the Ambulance driver could see the black vehicle was not stopping & adjusted their speed accordingly to slot behind the passing vehicle.
    Basically this was a non event drive with amazing responses from 99% of the other road users.

    The majority of Dutch drivers seem to have excellent situational awareness 😁👌👌👌❤️❤️❤️

      Maybe, got distracted by the lights turning green and completely forgot that the pov ambulance was trying to cross. Although probably also had hella loud music or something playing in her car and she never heard the loud ass siren.

      That's why you always stop looking at the traffic lights when you hear a sirene. You watch the emergency vehicle and react accordingly. Only when it has passed or will not be in your way, you look at the traffic lights again.
