    • @neerajmathrani
      @neerajmathrani หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are right, there are cases when the boss has already made up their mind. Why write a fantastic self-review anyway? Best case - your boss gets the data they need to convince themselves and higher-ups that you deserve a raise. Worst case - you get data that this may not be the right company for you. Either way, it's a good moment to reflect, be proud of your accomplishments and leave a record of your great work :)

    On 8/1 until I will no longer be with my company. I have been going through the grieving process and I'm not sure when it's going to be over. I've been considering taking time off to get refreshed with the job search. Interviews I have been invited to have been great, but there is an emptiness, like I wouldn't be happy at a new workplace because I don't feel like I'm done with my current company. My question for you is, do I stay until 8/1 to maximize severance or should I just right into a new position? Thank you.

    • @VerStarr
      @VerStarr 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In this context, probably the latter. But u mentioned how HRs interest is in the company so one should be very cautious when reaching out to HR for help I would think. How does one navigate that?

    • @neerajmathrani
      @neerajmathrani 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It depends on the situation. Sorry, I feel like I'm giving a cop out answer. If I was in a situation where there was a clear violation of the company's code of conduct, I would escalate and tell my side of the story to HR. HR is supposed to listen, do due diligence (investigate, gather data, hear all sides of the story) and act accordingly. Depending on the severity of the situation and how things turn out, you may need to get legal help.

    Wow!! Mistake number 4 for real?! I’ve thought of maybe 7 out of 13 of these. The tough part about resumes when applying to soooo many jobs tho is what is discouraging I think since not all jobs are the same either and may require small tweaks to get ur resume through the ATS. I’ve found getting the resume through an app as well as somehow getting in touch with a recruiter and sending it to them helps too!

      @@mohibquadri4053 the job description should help. But to learn more, you can ask this at the end of the interview, "What is the biggest challenge/pain point on your team right now?" Then give a one-liner succinct answer how you can help.

    This is so good! I’ve been victim to the first few examples and the STAR method is so powerful here. Sometimes I also use something I’m currently working on. I used to be a speak technically yo non-technical stakeholders and improved over time to translate my explanations which helped relationships from cross teams

      Thanks Ver! I love your idea of sharing something that you're currently working on! It takes courage to be this vulnerable and your excellent personal example shows it! 💪🏼

    Have you used any cliché weaknesses in the past? If so, which one? I am pretty sure I have used the perfectionist one many years ago.

    It has been a while since I've interviewed for a job, and this will help immensely. I can see that if you follow these steps as a game plan, then as long as you've got the actual skills for the job that you're seeking, you won't get knocked out of the running by oversight and silly mistakes.

    Using past performance reviews to prep for this interview question is a great idea! After you have that in hand, your response will be authentic and easy to speak to. I like the STAR method to structure your approach.

    If I was asked "how did you overcome adversity", how should I answer that? Should I get really personal or talk more surface-level?

    • @neerajmathrani
      @neerajmathrani 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would do my best to strike a balance between the two. The adversity can be personal and something related to your job. The important part is what steps you took to overcome the advertsity, and what did you learn from the experience. In the future, I may make a full video about this with an example.
