Building An XJ Rear Tube Bumper & Tire Carrier From Scratch
Fabricating an off road rear bumper for a Jeep Cherokee XJ. Utilizing parts from Barnes 4wd, EMS offroad, and 4xinnovations I create a tube bumper with styling inspired by Filthy Addictions offroad. The bumper is complete with recovery clevis shackle mounts and a spare tire carrier.

Welding Rock Sliders INTO The Body Of My Jeep Cherokee XJ
มุมมอง 2.4Kปีที่แล้ว
Gain ground clearance and rigidity in a Jeep XJ unibody by welding your sliders directly into the body! Jeep XJ unibodies can weaken and twist overtime due to hard off roading. Cutting out my rocker panels, welding my sliders directly to the body, and bracing them back to the frame should add a tremendous amount of strength to this chassis. And provide a great place to tie in a roll cage!

    Would this work on a TJ wrangler? it has an issue with rough shifting, 1st to 2nd, and if you unplug it for the night it fixes it temporarily. I have done some digging and everyone else with the same problem says it IS NOT the PCM, but possibly the "transmission range sensor" which ive been told is the same thing as a neutral safety switch?????

    • @machinesinc
      @machinesinc 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I’ll be honest, I’m not sure what is causing your issue. The NSS is simply letting your vehicle know what gear you have selected, so this should not affect the shifting performance of the transmission itself. But also keep in mind that XJs have different transmissions than TJs

      Hey the Amazon bumper as an awesome first welding project. Just prep all your surfaces, don’t weld too much at once, and weld a good portion of it while bolted to the vehicle to avoid warping. Adding frame tie ins is HIGHLY recommended, weld them directly to the bumper if you can.

    • @Anthony_Adventures
      @Anthony_Adventures 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@machinesinc for sure I’ve done as much research and stuff as I can and do a lot of practice welding on scrap metal and soon will be doing both the DIY front and rear bumpers and I do have tie in brackets as well already and I got some center section frame stiffeners to weld on as well but scared to do that lol

    I was removing rear shackle mounts for a no lift shackle mount relocation kit the other day. I had the three angle grinders, Sawzall, electric metal shears... I was able to nip it all off to a certain point, I was fed up at this point as I had spent about 20 min trying to figure out how to get the last bit out. Well, I pulled out my oscillating tool with a metal bit and surprisingly it cut pretty good. I was expecting it to flop. Anyways, that probably would have worked on that booger weld.

Once the kids are old enough I want to take them off roading but would want a roll cage in it and would probably install 5 point harnesses.
